Reinstall Vista and trying to connect to my local network, he asks me "security key or password"?

It is a peer-to-peer network set up on a few computers running XP, and I don't remember the key code requirements?

  • Satellite L500 - no possibility to connect to the local network

    Hello

I'm new to these forums so please accept my apologies if I don't use the terminology correct tech.

I have a Toshiba L500 laptop satellite. It of ok, but had to make the hard drive replaced recently (under warranty) as she died. I had been using a wireless network before I had to have the drive replaced and now trying to connect to a local network using a cable, but there is no device?

Now, I don't know when this became a question - before or after replacing the hard drive. Not only has he failed to drive hard, but has so the speakers, so I wonder if the LAN device is just another thing that has failed.

I understand that there are two components to the unit - the hardware and software. I learned that the material may have failed.

Does anyone know how to get back the unit so that I can plug my computer on a local network and internet access? No, the device isn't in the network adapters. I don't know how to get it back.

    > I have the replaced disk and now I'm trying to connect to a local network using a cable, but there is no device?
Have you tried reinstalling the driver LAN?

Remember that the network driver is installed correctly you should check this in the device-> network cards Manager.
In this category the LAN card and wireless network card required!

If you're going to see some yellow exclamation points, so this means that a driver is missing or is not working properly and this means that you must remove/uninstall the driver, and after new restarts, the driver needs to be installed once more

    Please check this!

    Hello

Reading between the lines a bit here, it is my understanding...

    1. Never use Ethernet, probably because you don't have broadband for some reason any?
    2. Due to the size of the download, you asked someone else to do it with no broadband?
    3. As a result, which is two screens with a red X icon, but never used to be there?

This icon with the red X is only informative. If you do not use Ethernet then you won't have connected cable, which means that the information you see on "network cable is unplugged" is correct. If you don't like this icon, you can hide...

    • Right-click on an empty part of the taskbar, and then click Properties
    • Click the Notification area
    • You will see a check box for the network, there uncheck and then click OK to hide the icon
    • Reverse this process, if you want to display the icon

Or is your problem you can connect is no longer with dial upward? If this is the case...

    • Click Start, type inetcpl.cpl and press enter
    • Click the Connections tab
    • 'Never make a connection' values? If this is the case, always select "default connection" (or "Number using whenever a network connection is not present")
    • Click OK

  • I have problems wireless on my Acer laptop which has Windows Vista. I am able to connect to my school of university network and used to connect to my home network.

original title: Wireless on the Fritz

I have problems wireless on my Acer laptop which has Windows Vista.  I am able to connect to my school of university network and used to connect to my home network (both are networks limited requiring a password or log in).  However, last week my computer stopped connecting to my home network (no one else has this problem with the home network).  I tried to fix the problem, but my computer says that "Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive response from the access point or wireless router."  That said also thatthe connection "(my wireless network)" has been cancelled.  This is perhaps due to a timeout or user action. »

The only different thing I did last week was click option at my University 'connect long-term' instead of 'connect short term' to their wireless network.  Maybe who has messed up my settings?  That's what my University said of his record long term: "students, faculty and staff also have an option to easily record their computer (or other wireless devices), so that it is not necessary to authenticate each day they connect from the network wireless campus, to resources outside the University.»  However, these settings are saved on their network (I can access it online from another computer), so I think it is unlikely that he messed up my settings.

I don't really know what the problem is.  Any ideas as to what I can do?  I don't want to reset my computer everything.

    Thank you!

can anyone help? After reinstalling vista and by then setting automatic updates, I find after the download and installation of updates that I "lost" more than 10 GB on my drive hard, why is that?

Updates must be stored somewhere, and installed somewhere 10 GIG is in the normal range.  Did you do a disk cleanup?

have you saved or set a restore point?  It has been a decade since I used Vista, but I think that any time you install something made Vista a restore point.

  • What I would do, my computer has so many unwanted programs, is to reinstall Vista and not all HP programs that I don't want.

What I would do, my computer has so many unwanted programs, is to reinstall Vista and not all HP programs that I don't want.  It seems to make the computer too slow.  I don't have a Vista disc, only the recovery CD I did in the beginning. Can I recover and just reinstall Vista, or should I get back it?
    Thank you
    Bill

    original title: recovery

If your "Vista recovery disc" is provided by the manufacturer of your computer, be it Dell, Gateway, Hewlett-Packard, etc... Then chances are he's doing a thing. Completely format your hard drive and restores your computer to the day you brought it home. It's a major nuisance for many people these days, as if you have an error and Windows says 'Please insert the Vista CD to fix it Windows' well, you do not HAVE the CD to correct the error. Your only option is a complete erasure of all data.

So, my advice is to avoid ever NEED to use the recovery CD, and if you don't... hope you have backups of your important data (which is another thing, backup your important data often!).

I'm portable computer maintenance of the customer, a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5885, under Vista Home Premium x 86 SP2, with infections by malicious software and internet connection problems. The two network status of connections 'Unidentified network', and also ' access: Local only ' all other machines hooked up to my router via CAT5e and some via 802.11 g/n, have excellent speeds with internet connectivity, so I know that the problem is limited to his machine. I tried the following:

Deactivation and reactivation of these two connections: FAIL.

"Diagnose and repair" on the two connections: FAIL.

Under dynamic I.P. type to static/static to the dynamic: FAIL.

Uninstalled all network via Device Manager devices, then restart: FAIL.

Manually uninstalled all the drivers and utility and installed the latest versions: FAIL

Guys, I'm really hitting my head against the wall on this one, and I would be VERY happy for any help through this. Thank you!

  • Connected to the local network, but can not use internet

I recently had problems with access to the internet after reinstalling windows 7. Before the reinstall worked very well.

I can connect to the local network without problem, and it shows that the internet is connected. Yet I can not access the internet. When I disconnect and reconnect, I get a few seconds of internet work before it stops working.

When a diagnosis in the network and sharing Center, I get the error "default gateway is not available" and occasionally "the connection between your access point, etc. and internet is broken"

Other computers and devices using the network are working properly, although there was a 'competitor IP address' error on another pc, which, after a reconnection, solved itself.

I use an edimax 802.11n wireless card and a D-link router

I tried several things to make it work again, but without result. Any help would be greatly appreciated

    disable TCP/IPv6 had no effect.

I think I can have fixed me, I installed the driver microsoft before the reinstall instead of the driver edimax and internet suddenly started working.

    Hey,.

The drivers that you downloaded are WLAN Card and has nothing to do with the connection to the local network (Ethernet) normal

    Firewall disabled.

    Printer recognizes the router's LAN.

Was also pointed out that the port does not communicate, can not remove it; Cannot add another...

    Printer does not print.

    How can I fix?

    Hi @AnnisMonadjem,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you are unable to print to your printer HP Officejet Pro 8600. I'd be happy to help you and don't forget to come back to this thread and check "Accept as Solution", if I have successfully helped solve you the problem. If you want to say 'Thank you' to my effort to help, click on the "thumbs up" to give me a Kudos.

When you say 'LAN', are you referring to the network or you try to share the printer on the network?

How is the printer connected? (Ethernet/WiFi)

If you have noticed that the port is causing problems, please download and run the print and Scan doctor, it will be probably diagnose and fix the problem you are experiencing.

What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor? (she print or scan, error messages)

HP has several Officejet Pro 8600 series.

What is the name and the product number of your printer? How can I find my model number or product number?

    • Update the firmware of the printer.
    • Don't hide the SSID (network name).
    • What type of encryption are you helping? HP recommends WPA and WPA2.
    • You have a double router broadband? Make sure that the two groups were not the same network name.

If the problem persists, you may encounter an IP address conflict. It's a good idea to assign the printer a static IP address outside your DHCP range. For example, some routers default DHCP is located between 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.200. So, I would use 192.168.0.232.

To assign the static IP address, use the following steps as a guide.

    • Print a Page of Network Configuration menu of the printer front panel. Note the IP printer. IPV4 address
    • Type the IP address in the browser to bring up the SAP.
    • Choose the network tab, then wireless on the left side, and then select the IPv4 tab.
    • Select Manual IP.
    • Enter your IP address manual (192.168.0.232)
    • Enter 255.255.255.0 for the subnet mask, except if it is different.
    • Enter the IP address of your router that sits on the Network Configuration Page) for the default gateway.
    • Please, click on manual DNS server. For the preferred DNS Server Manual please enter 8.8.8.8 and the Alternate DNS Server Manual, please enter 8.8.4.4.
    • Click on apply.
    • Restart the router, the printer and the computer.
    • Test printing and scanning.

If the problem persists, download and run this patch rollup: resolving printing issues in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2

    • Try printing and scanning.

In addition, if you are still having problems try the steps in this guide, HP printers - "offline" Status Message printer (Windows 7).

Continue on, if the problem persists.
