Reinstall windows xp without a disc

my computer is slowing down, so I tried to reinstall windows xp by using winnt32.exe, but when I tried to reinstall it I got the error message "Setup cannot continue because the version of Windows on your computer is newer than the version on the CD.

WARNING: If you decide to delete the newer version of Windows that is currently installed on your computer, the files and settings cannot be recovered. »

What can I do?

Looks like you try to perform a repair installation after booting from the hard drive, which will not work offshore.     You probably have a restore disk partition that can be used to reinstall Windows. See your documentation or check with Staples to learn more.

    Note that formatting the drive and reinstalling WIndows are a very bad approach to address any problem. What makes you think you need to do this?

    What is the brand and model of your computer? You have the restore disc that came with the computer. If the recovery partition is still intact, you may be able to reset it to factory settings, but I can't tell you how much, until you post the manufacturer and model of your computer.

    The repair disk you mention does not contain the files to reinstall Windows 7, it simply provides a way to access recovery and diagnostic option etc.

    There are two options available.

    1. you can order the HP operating system recovery disc.

    2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

    There is no download online free and legal from vista

    Contact the computer manufacturer and ask them to send vista recovery discs

    they do it for a nominal cost of $

    also ask them if you have a recovery partition on your hard drive to get back to the way you bought

    you would normally press F10 or F11 or Alt + F10, 0 at startup to start the recovery process according to the manufacturer
