  • Related topics buttons are not displayed in v6

After having upgraded from v4 to v6, I encountered a problem with related topics buttons - they are not displayed in what anyone other than the WISIWYG display!

My existing buttons (from my project created in v4) does not display in preview mode or in compiled help .chm file - I have used the original project or import topics into a completely new project.

Similarly, they do not appear if you create them from scratch in an existing project or a new topic in an existing project or a new topic in a new project!

If anyone has suggestions/resolutions for this I would be very grateful - I use them in all subjects!

Thank you for your kind participation in trying to help with this problem!

It turns out that the problem, it is because that I run the project on a server rather than my C drive! (even though I'm a bit puzzled as to why for the past 6 years this was never a problem) However, a solution if I'm not going to cry over it.

  • Related topics like the list instead of button?

I use RoboHelp 8.0.2 to produce HTML Help.

Instead of having a related topics button, I would like a linked list of topics to appear (if the user doesn't have to click to see the list of topics and if there is that one topic is not automatically taken it).

Ideally, it would look like this:

    Related topics

    Heading A

    Heading B

I understand that I could do it manually, but then I wouldn't have RoboHelp keep track of these things for me.

    Thank you

    Hi Victoria

    V Igel says:

I understand that I could do it manually, but then I wouldn't have RoboHelp keep track of these things for me.

There isn't really anything that RoboHelp would specifically do with control of related topics that would offer you no advantage compared to a list of links.

For example, manually add you subjects to control currently. If you update one of the subjects in the control so that they have a different file name, RoboHelp does follow and update the name of the file for you. Here again, he'll do the same thing if you have a list of links.

You may be under the impression that if you were to change the title of the topic that control related topics would be changed to reflect the new title. But you would be wrong.

  • Related topics incorrectly button showing links to the topics of other layouts

I use RoboHelp HTML 8.0.2.208.  I produce several WebHelp Layouts of single Source of a RoboHelp project.  Each presentation has a subset of the files in the project.  For example, in A page layout, I've linked headings 1, 2 and 3.  Implementation B, I only have 1 and 3 related topics.  In all subjects, I inserted the same related subjects button that offers the links to all the topics of the three.  Previously, in other versions of HR, no matter what are the subjects were associated with a touch of related topics, links to only topics that appeared were those that existed in the particular arrangement you were viewing.  So, if I look a 1 subject in the Layout B, it showed links in topics related to items 1 and 3 button.  However, I noticed recently that all the links are appearing, even those subjects who were not in the page layout.  So, if you click on a link, it gives you an error not found page.  Is it maybe a bug?   Or if the functionality has changed and I have taillor each button related topics individually for each topic so no subjects outside his disposal appear?

    Thank you!

I don't know something has changed and then a simple test, I've just set up, everything seems to work as expected, only the headings of the build are presented.

Have you checked your tags to build and expression?

A search also finds the headings "excluded"?

  • Links in RoboHelp 8 related topics now underlined incoherent WebHelp output

I've recently upgraded to Robohelp HTML 8.0.2.208 RoboHelp HTML 7.x and I use the WebHelp output.

Without having to tell the customers (it is a last resort) to allow the IE 8 setting the ' Web Sites display all in compatibility view ', someone a idea how to prevent links to related topics being highlighted with incompatible colors? I'm missing where the formats of related topics are highlighted? Also, my text in topics is underlined inconsistently (some links drop-down text menu are pointed out, which is my preference, and some are not).

  • Where can I find detailed, systematic support for the advanced Thunderbird related topics?

In moving from XP to Windows 7, I opted for Thunderbird as a mail client in order to circumvent hyper intrusive Windows Live Mail to Microsoft (I used Outlook Express for years).

I have a very complicated E-mail structure, and it took me weeks (seriously) to learn how to reproduce it in TBird. Now, I try to customize TBird more, but none of the TBird articles/forum Q & A / searches on Google to ask my questions.

There is no support direct tech TBird, and I'm almost ready to leave for good. However - a last effort: where can I find detailed, systematic support for the advanced Thunderbird related topics?

    Thank you.

  • Related topics: is it possible to change the order of the headings?

    Hello

Is it possible to change the order of related topics? I need to change the order of the items (in other words, I don't want the headings alphabeticized.)

    Thank you
    FMnRH

    Hi FMnRH

Yes, you can change the order. If you have already inserted the control, double-click it to edit it. Then click the themes tab to select the topic you want, and below, the box displays the topic name. The field is called "Title". If you click the field, and prefix the title with 1. or 2. to force the desired order.

If you do not prefix, you will need to manually edit the HTML code. But it is possible.

  • Topics related button does not not in IE7

    Hi all:

A colleague and I tried to get the related topics button to work on a PC with installed IE7. We tried to make the browser as secure as possible by allowing what is normally turned off in the Internet Options pane (Java, ActiveX, etc.), does not. All we get on a subject where the button should be is an empty box with a dot inside. We have tried other options of browsing as related topics as a text link, a context menu and a dialog themes found. Nothing seems to work with IE7, but it worked fine on previous versions of Internet Explorer. If anyone else has experienced this? Is it a security issue with IE7 that we cannot set in the Internet Options pane? Is there something in HR that should be changed? We use RH X 5.

    Thank you!!

    Kind regards
    John Freiberger

Looks like we understood the problem - the PC to test that my colleague has seen first this issue is out of our network and does not update Microsoft. We installed both IE7 at home and the related topics button behaved very well. So our theory is now the PC test missing some patches or updates that prevents indirectly to the buttons.

  • Various suite v6 update...

    Hi all

Previously, I used v4 HR and recently upgraded to v6.

I started working on one of my existing projects (everything seemed fine!) and set up the RS version control system.

I have added several new topics and updated a number of existing ones and the first problem that I found was:

1 in preview mode - images that were present as part of my original topic would not display (although the images inserted using v6 worked well), I had simply a box outline, the size and the shape of the graph with a red cross.

I checked the code on the new images, compared to the old and could not see anything obviously different! So I decided to compile the project and see if the problem remains in the compiled HTML Help file, and then I hit my next problem:

    2. it will not - compile I tried to compile in all formats, but none worked - whenever he fell more with ' Robohelp HTML Application has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenince ' then the software crashes altogether!

So I checked the Forum to find similar errors and did not really find responses other than trying to import topics by lots into a new project and see if that compiles - which I am partially through the practice at present (this is more laborious work - it would be so much better if the software has been able to actually advise to what it is exactly that it is having a problem) with!) and I discovered today a third problem:

    3. in the compiled .chm generated from the 'new' project, the "Related topics" buttons I've included in all my subjects are omitted!

Initially, I have what may be causing problems with the conversion of the v4 to v6 so I tried to add a new button "Related topics" to one of my subjects using v6 and even that does not appear in the compiled .chm file!

Another thing - and probably I forget which the parameter is - in my newly compiled my newly created project .chm, you must double-click the topics and books in order to access them - so in my projects previously compiled, a single click did the trick!

I would be extremely grateful for any suggestion regarding the issues mentioned above (having them spent my initial excitement to a new version) I am now finding the "bug hunt" more irritating.

    Thanks as always in advance

    Kind regards

    Sherri

Peter - start who you are - thank you x

The problem was because of the merged cells in a table associated with the use of conditional compilation tags. After you follow the instructions provided on the site Web of Pete for a workaround, I now have a compiled project.

  • Topics related button - Windows XP platform

    Hi all

Our Organization is migrating from Windows 2000 to Windows XP Professional Edition SP2. The previous operating system, installation of SP4 resolved the problem of button disapperaring related topics. Those of us who are on the new operating system do not see the button.

Is there a solution, other then by changing the registry (too many customers), set the disapperaing on the XP operating system?

    Thank you
    CRO

    CRO,

It would seem that (hhctrl.ocx) HTML Help ActiveX control is broken on XP machines, as is the control that provides the features of related topics. I'm not aware of any update from Microsoft that disables this control in the local .chm files - at least not by design - but it is quite possible that the control was accidentally broken.

To correct the problem, you can try running help Diagnostics of MJ, available at http://helpware.net/downloads/index.htm#MJs. If this does not resolve the problem, try the reinstatement of the ActiveX of the command line control. To do this, open a command prompt window and type the following two commands:

    regsvr32 /u %windir%\system32\hhctrl.ocx
    regsvr32 %windir%\system32\hhctrl.ocx

Under the direction of add: If none of the machines last HTML Help security patch installed ( KB896358), it is highly recommended to install it. This will bring all the components HTML Help update.

  • RH9 WebHelp problem with the buttons next and previous topic

The previous topic and next topic buttons do not work as expected. By example, if I navigate to topics and click on the previous topic, I expect to see the most recent section I read (similar to the use of the back button in a browser to see the previous page). However, the previous button is not available or the user to a random topic and next topic never brings up the next topic.

I inherited this project, my first experience with RH9 and so am not sure something previous author included in the project to check the buttons appear or if these buttons are part of the interface default WebHelp. I looked in properties available to single Source for each output, but do not see any place to specify information on these buttons.

As you can see in the screenshot, is not on the sequences of travel (I saw that there are other questions about Next and Previous as sequences associated to browse).

Any help appreciated because this bug was found by QA and they would like to solve the problem in the next update...

    Hello

These buttons above the table of contents are buttons for the navigation sequence. And that might explain their behavior.

Do you mean any other key? Am I missing something?

  • Topics related to design text changed.

    All, morning

    HR 8.0.2.208 generating WebHelp.

Until today, when I added a related topic to topic, it appeared as "related topic"in the design. " Selected in the related topic Wizard formatting has been applied as expected. I use a related subject of text (not key or hidden).

Today I added a new related topic, and it appears as "Control DTC [related topics]" in gray text. Looking at all related topics, I have added in the past, they too are now in this way. Old and new topics related links seem to work well in the preview window.

  • Any way to change buttons firefox back to normal?

EU back from vacation to find the topic/buttons/titlebar I just an update. The new look of tabs bothers me not so much, but the buttons are in a terrible mess. For some reason, the previous button is stuck to the search bar, and none of the customization controls won't let me put the home/refresh in-between button (as they were before).

I changed to chrome for now until this issue is resolved. I expect this level of user unfriendliness to other browsers, but FIrefox has let me down this time. Hoping a few add-it/update allows to reverse the damage here... Or maybe just something completely forgot.

    1. Classic restaurateur theme installation and restart Firefox when prompted.
    2. Open the modules (Ctrl + Shift + A Manager; Mac: Command + shift + A), then the Extensions category.
    3. Beside the classical restaurant theme, click on the Options button.
    4. On the main tab, make sure that 'Mobile back-forward button' and 'hide urlbars stop & reload buttons' is checked. You can also check "combine stop & reload buttons. Close the options window when finished.
    5. Right-click on a zone empty of the tab bar and select Customize.
    6. Click the defaults button.
    7. Do slide forward/backward buttons, Stop and reload on the navigation toolbar.
    8. Click the Customize the output at the bottom right button when finished.
