• with the removal of the assosciated file icon. How can I delete the icon?

  I have icons on my desktop that I can't remove.

  They correspond to files (excel pages that have been deleted, the image file when the file has been deleted, etc.).

  I have 3 of them. 2 were there 11 months (not important, I know).

  When I right click on them and press 'delete', I get a popup that says "cannot find the file."

  One, exported image is a separate file. To export the means to make a copy of the original file with usually a file Extension different, JPG or TIF instead of extending RAW file and at the same time, apply the changes, you did so that the exported image. LR is not really the original images. The changes you make on images in LR are saved in the catalog file or XMP file, or in the case of DNG, TIF or JPG the changes are actually stored in the original file in a special area that does not alter the original image. The only time you can see the changes made by LR is when you view the image within LR and or when you export an image. Then the changes applied to the exported image.

  So in answer to your last question.

  If you change an image and then export this image on the desktop, and then decide to delete the image you exported to your desktop remains the original images, and Yes you could / can still see in LR and make edits more on it or remove and or modify the changes you had made previously in this topic.

  Please review some of the very good tutorial available LR on the NET, and perhaps even buying a book on LR.

"  However, in Fusion seems to have no effect - the vmem file is created without worrying.  How can I disable this?  Sorry if this is a basic question, but I'm new to Fusion.

  A quick test on my system with 4 Fusion makes a

  mainmem.backing = 'swap '.
  mainmem.backing = "no name".

  seems to work; http://sanbarrow.com/VMX/VMX-advanced.html#mainmem suggests that you want to vary depending on whether the host is 64-bit. As always, vmx piracy is not supported, can set your dog on fire, etc..

• Removal of the Vmdk files

  I have a SAN connected to our ESX Server.  I want to remove one of the ROW in a data store in ESX.  My question is... If I "remove disc" that deletes only the RDM or it will erase the data on the SAN?  I thought it was only a pointer to the SAN and therefore will not erase all data by "removal of the disc?  I just need to check that won't risk losing data.

  Delete from disk removes only the proxy vmdk file.

  Your data on the LUN is always present and you can re - create disc RDM.

• _mm and visible in the .lck files Panel

  I have a colleague working on a site that can see the _mm and .lck files folder in the files Panel. AFAIK, this should never happen? She has other problems that seem unrelated, but how and why these files / folders display? I work on exactly the same site and do not have these in my files Panel. I hope that if there is a resolution to the visible thing 'hidden' files, which could make other problems go away too...

  I had this same problem and found the solution today.

  In the files Panel, click the "expand button to view local and remote sites. Then click on show-> show hidden files and uncheck the box. Local. LCK, _MM and other files that should be hidden is no longer displayed.

  Now if I could only to prevent synchronization from the server _vti folders down to my machine...

  1 download CCleaner here, install it and open and click on run cleaner.
  2 remove everything in the \Downloads C:\Users\ (yourname) as necessary.
  3. start > all programs > Accessories > system tools > Disk Cleaner
  4. consider upgrading your hard drive.
  5 find the virus that they can fill the free space on the hard drive.
  6 uninstall all unnecessary programs.
  The Dotnetfx3.5.exe can be deleted safely. Do DELETE all .exe files, or it will mess up your Windows.

  Trying to open a file with 3 Expressions .dwt and a lck record prevents my opening. TPL. tried to delete the file lck and messages said I must have administrator access. I signed as editable.
