  A little surprised nobody has answered this earlier. But what you want to do is very easy, and you should be able to leave the facebook software installed.

  With the software facebook already installed (if you install after that it will re - add facebook to your contacts, forcing you again), go to contacts. Press the top menu bar on the left and choose "Preferences & accounts." Under accounts, tap "Facebook". In the next screen, there will be an orange button marked down 'delete account '.

  Boom, you're all set!

  That said, you sure want to actually remove facebook contacts rather than take the time to connect them to existing names in your address book? I'm just wondering this is part of the synergy that is a first point of sale of the appliance.

  When you integrate a Facebook account that all your contacts will be synchronized to your device, you cannot select specific contacts.

  That being said, you can optionally hide your Facebook contacts and don't have Facebook data appear on contacts from another location, such as your e-mail address if you link contacts.

  To hide a set of contacts such as Facebook, open the Contacts application, further down from the top of the screen and tap Settings and then turning off Facebook.

  Well... First make sure your list of contacts on gmail is fine.  I don't want to be responsible for you nothing lose too, when you do a hard reset the phone is completely set to factory default.  MY SD card was not hit at all, but some say it can be destroyed, so it is recommended to take out before a reset (I have not, did not read this trick until after I did lol).  I go through and clean up the SD card, has however, deleted all the folders which created apps, left the Docs folder that I made.

  You get to go through all of the first installation (which I liked) and then give your google credentials.  It will put everything in place and you will be back to square one.

  Again, if you follow this path, make you all your gmail contacts are good lookin.

  So I was wondering if someone else sees the same problem with the triumph. I have synced my Facebook contacts to see that I can't call one of them. Three digits are added before the number when you make a call ("001" the international dialing code for the United States) and for this reason, the call does not pass through.   At the moment there is no way to disable the Facebook contact Sync feature. You will need edit each contact and remove the link Facebook or you can just change the name of the contact so that it displays the name you want.
