  I have the following computer: HP ENVY h8 desktop PC - 1437c.  I used the HP Recovery application to do a recovery on a flash drive disk. When you have finished this operation it was not an option to remove the recovery partition (drive D on my computer. I tried to reopen the HP Recovery Manager and try to remove it like that, but to remove it is greyed out. I also tried to delete it using the 8.1 windows Disk Manager, but there is no way to do there either. If I right click on the recovery Partition, I get only an option 'help '. How can I get rid of this partition and recover lost space using it now on my hard drive. Windows and HP did not want to provide more records with their computers, but they do not have a problem of screwing of MY hard drive that I bought and paid for. I should start to charge rent for the space.

  I just used the software and created another partition as drive D using all unallocated space. I can delete probably once again, or maybe I'll just use it as a storage device for my files instead of recovering files sofetware... Thanks for the help

  Yes, you can delete the partitions of recovery and reclaim the space.

  As for aid in the recovery of Win10, my opinion is that the integrated backup/restore solutions are unreliable, so I don't trust them.

  Instead, I have long relied on a third party solution known as Macrium reflect (MR).

  What I recommend is the following:
  (1) download and install Macrium reflect (MR)
  (2) run M. and choose the option: "Create an image of the partition (s) required to backup and restore Windows" to write a full backup to an external drive or USB key
  (3) use the option to create a CD or a USB startup key
  
  I use all the time and it usually takes less than 10 minutes to make the backup of the image and at the same time or less do a restore.  In addition, MR has the ability to add a recovery Boot Menu entry.  This then allows you to boot into Windows re, and then you can use it to do a restore - when you cannot start Windows!
  
  NOW, you have the means to restore a full system that works for the external hard drive or USB key in a few minutes.

  You can use the 8.1 Windows disk management utility to delete the partition. Right-click the icon to the left of the bottom and select disk management to call the disk management utility in Windows 8.1

  Try the command line option:

  Start cmd.exe as an administrator, then inside the window cmd, type

  DiskPart

  then, type diskpart

  list disk

  take note of the correct disc ID to clear

  type

  Select disk x

  (where x is the ID of your disk to erase)

  type

  clean

  your HARD drive will be erased completely

  or you can try the magic of partition:

  Hiren's boot cd and gparted tool available.

  You must create a bootable CD or USB pen as media.

  In your case of removal of Windows 7 as the operating system and using Windows XP, I would say it is safe.  If Windows 7 was used, I would recommend to keep in tact.  If the recovery disks are used, it must put the computer back to factory new, even with the Parition of recovery went.

  Hi, this is my first post, I write because I have experienced a problem with a HP ultra-livre.

  I just bought a HP Folio 13. I burned the DVD with data recovery (using the "Create recovery media" button in the HP Recovery Manager) and I would like to delete the recovery of data stored in the secondary partition (as they occupy almost all of it) by the button "Delete the recovery Partition" in also HP Recovery Manager. What worries me is if I remove the recovery of data stored in the partition of my computer, (whenever I need them) can I restore from the DVD I burned? can you assure me that it will work, or there might be no problem doing this?  If not, what is the sense to display a button named "Delete the recovery Partition"?

  In theory, the recovery discs that you do should work.

  In reality, this is not always the case.

  Please read these tales of woe on the link below (there are 324 pages of discussions) and decide for yourself what you want to do, because nobody would be able to make no assurance that your recovery disks will work.

  Your recovery partition will always be Windows 8.1.  HP won't give you free Windows 10 recovery media even if your laptop is brand new with Windows 8.1 installed.

  The "recovery Partition" in question is not a thing of Microsoft.  Ask that ever created it (the manufacturer of your computer) which will probably help you not because it's beyond their desire to do so.

  I suggest you create / have external media and numbers of series/product key in another place course of the computer itself.

  I do not know what do you mean under restore partition, but if your laptop comes with the recovery disk is no restore partition that can be used for any new OS install.

  When you use the whole HARD disk Toshiba Recovery disk will be deleted. You can install any OS you want, but after using the recovery disk, you will lose everything.

  If you are sure that the created recovery DVD is ok at 100%, you can delete all data on the second partition.
  Open Windows Explorer on the left side where is the second partition, click with the right button of the mouse and choose the FORMAT option.
  Choose the quick format option and click START.

  After a minute or two, all data will be gone.

  Please note: in the future when you want to use recovery DVD for installing Win7 the whole HARD disk is deleted and you will lose all your data.
  Using recovery DVD you can not format the C partition only.
