  If you really don't want / need the Vista virtual machine more and return the necessary disk space, simply remove the Vista VM folder and all the files inside.  If you think you might want to use later in time, then before you delete the folder, compress/archive/zip/stuffit/whatever the folder first if you have a smaller backup of the virtual machine.

  System Restore will not do anything

  Contact the manufacturer of the laptop and getting them to send you the xp recovery disk to reinstall xp if you do not have a xp cd

  If you have not a cd of xp do a clean reinstall of xp
