Rename the particular XML tag

Hi the Indesign Experts,

I am confused many in the sub question. I have an indesign document. In the xml structure, if I select an item and when trying to rename the selected item markupTag.name, is changing all elements with the name of the selected elements.

input.GIF

I use the code to execute after selecting an element of xml below.

App.Selection [0].markupTag.Name = "test";

But the look of the output like below.

output.GIF

But I want onlu to rename the selected xmlelement.

Any idea to do?

Thank you and best regards,

Vel.

You change the name of the tag applied rather than assigning another tag. Try this:

var testTag = app.activeDocument.xmlTags.item("test").isValid ? app.activeDocument.xmlTags.item("test") : app.activeDocument.xmlTags.add({name: "test"});
app.selection[0].markupTag = testTag;

    1. I saw the warning "Content contains characters that cannot be encoded." when importing xml, but have never tracked down what is happening. Or if I have never seen different content in InDesign than what I expected after seeing this warning. Perhaps, it occurs when the imported xml file does not have the attribute of coding on the initial processing instruction, but InDesign figures on the encoding? I do not know.

    2. If you want to remove any olinked attribute on keyterm items, simply modify the XPath in .evaluateXPathExpression to //keyterm[@olinkend] . If you want to match multiple specific values, just do//keyterm[@olinkend = 'KT01401' or @olinkend = 'KT01402' or @olinkend = 'KT01403'].

    This code turns into a completely different XML schema, I don't think that it is designed for the export of the form at all. There is JavaScript methods to export shape data, I think. • Error code for absence of [JS, CS4-5] XML tag

    Hello

    I have a javascript to import XML and, as well as various other operations, apply styles of paragraph and character Indesign to XML tags.

    However, if a particular item does not appear in the XML (for example, < author >), it generates an error, as you would expect.

    Is there an example of a javascript script that intercepts the errors and matter the XML anyway, ignoring the missing XML tags? What paragraph and character styles, it can be the presentation based on the XML in there?

    I check the incoming XML has empty XML tags, and currently empty XML tags cause me problems (tables in InDesign have additional blank lines for example).

    Thanks in advance,

    Simon.

    He answered myself and to complete, I thought I'd post the answer.

    Implement the styles for mapping tags to

    Try

    {

    myDocument.xmlImportMaps.add (myDocument.xmlTags.item ("body"),

    myDocument.paragraphStyles.item ("body"));

    There are loads of these

    }

    catch (Err)

    {

    Alert ('Alert');

    }

    In my case, I thought about having an alert but I commented out and it works as expected.

  • Rename the XML via Javascript tags

    Currently, I have a script that detects some paragraph styles and renames them. For example:

    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;

    var myStyle = myDoc.paragraphStyles.itemByName ("bar SIDE B HEAD");
    myStyle.name = "SIDEBAR HEAD of NOTE"

    I would like to do the same thing with some names of XML tags, preferably as part of the same script. I'm sure it's pretty easy, but for some reason, I can't find any info on how to tell the XML tags!

    I looked in the tutorial Scripting InDesign CS4 and Adobe Introduction to scripting, but at this point, I feel I'm wasting my time on a simple problem. Anyone can help out by an amateur?

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

    Yes you are right Matt, it is very easy.

    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var myTag = myDoc.xmlTags.itemByName("Old");
    myTag.name = "New";

    Hello

    You must declare the namespace of each element used in the XPath expression, like this:

    SQL> select extractvalue( XMLDATA
      2                     , '/samp:Field1/UTI/U01'
      3                     , 'xmlns:samp="http://www.oradev.com/chipsxml.xsd"' ) "XMLDATA"
      4  from chipsxmltable1 x
      5  ;

    XMLDATA
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    No

    SQL> select extract( XMLDATA
      2                , '/samp:Field1/UTI'
      3                , 'xmlns:samp="http://www.oradev.com/chipsxml.xsd"'
      4                ).getstringval() "XMLDATA"
      5  from chipsxmltable1 x
      6  ;

    XMLDATA
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      No
      Y
      Y
      Y
      Y
      Y
      Y
      Y

    Please see EXTRACT and EXTRACTVALUE documentation:

  • How can I find and replace the xml tags?

    Hi, I am using xml in my workflow and want to be able to remove some tags if they contained particular text.

    Here is an example of the xml struct...

    < Entry >

    < name > DEFAULT < / name >

    < such > default < / such >

    DEFAULT < address > < / address >

    < / Entry >

    I use this initial structure to define paragraph styles to follow when you import the xml data.

    This leaves DEFAULT in place everywhere where an entry is not any content of this field.

    I want to be able to import my XML and then run a script that deletes tags that include by DEFAULT, - I need to the xml tag to remove not only the text, if I do a normal find and replace will remove only the text not the tags that is causing problems with style. I also want to remove the end of para/return (^ p) that I placed at the end of the line. So it would be the same opening editor mode and removing content, tags + hard back in there, but I want to automate the process...

    So I think that's what I'm looking for in each case

    "< name > DEFAULT < / name > ^ p.

    and I want to replace it with nothing.

    Is this possible in a script (ideally javascript)?

    I have a little knowledge of javascript, but don't know how to search for and target this kind of string in indesign...

    using indesign cs5

    Thank you very much

    Hello

    Script should do it in two steps:

    1 find all occurrences of that is ' > by DEFAULT.<>

    2 delete the whole paragraph which is a found_text container.

    For example, in this way - JS - (a textFrame filled your text must be selected):

    var mStory = app.selection[0].parentStory;
    app.findTextPreferences =  null;
    app.findTextPreferences.findWhat = ">DEFAULT<";
    var myF = mStory.findText();
    var count = myF.length;
    while (count--)
         myF[count].paragraphs[0].remove();

  • What is the easiest way to read a value of XML tag

    Hi all

    Im not at all experienced in the use of the XML parser library.

    How can I retrieve the value of the label?
    I use the matching node get all (see attachment). Get XML gives me:

    ABDELKADER<p class="help"> <p class="help">How can I retrieve the value of the tag (AAAA), without the XML tags directly?</p> <p class="help">Thank you all</p> <p class="reply">You can use the get node text Content.vi of the same range as the other function XML you use.</p> <p class="reply">From a node property uses the "node value".</p>

  • Error in getting the brother following non-text for XML without CR at the end of tag

    Hello all,.

    I have a strange error of parsing XML files with labview. I have an XML file in a single line, without CR at the end of each tag. A normal browser or analysis tool XML is able to read, but not with Labview.

    The error I have is with "Get Next non-text Sibling.vi", which in their own country fails to read the Type property (error-2630, property node (arg 1) in NI_XML.lvlib:Get next non-text Sibling.vi-> XML Get siblings Childs Nodes.vi-> encode data to label (Path) .vi).

    Parser XML LabVIEW works if I add a CR to each node/tag.

    I am quite sure that this is a bug in labview. I found a workaround is to open the file, then save the file with the Save File (Pretty Print) method and then open again, but it's a lot of time and I would avoid it.

    Kind regards

    Daniele

    You were right, I did my own necessarily get a brother following text nodes (which also includes RC, I did not know it!).

    Now it works, there is no bug of labview, also if the functions XML documentation is very poor.

    Thank you

    Daniele

  • regular expression for the xml tags

    Dear smart people of the labview world.

    I have a question about how to match the names of xml text elements.

    The image that I have some xml, for example:

    Peter

    13

    and I want to match all of the names of elements, that is to say: no, son, grandson, age, regardless of any attribute have these items. There is a regular expression, I can loop, that can do this? (Something like "\<.+\> ". "") It is no good because it matches the entire xml string.) I'd really only two different expressions, one for the match start elements, e.g. and one for the correspondence of the elements, for example.

    Thanks for your help in advance!

    Paul.

    The site Of regular Expressions will be very convenient.

    They have some good tutorials on regexp with a demo of the XML tags:

    Here is a small excerpt:

    The regular expression <\i\c*\s*>matches an opening of the XML without the attributes tag corresponds to a closing tag. <\i\c*(\s+\i\c*\s*=\s*("[^"]*"|'[^']*'))*\s*>corresponds to an opening with a number any attributes. Put all together, <(\i\c*(\s+\i\c*\s*=\s*("[^"]*"|'[^']*'))*| i\c*)\s*="">corresponds to an opening with attributes or a closing tag.  (source)

    If you want advanced XML analysis I suggest JKI XML toolkit.

    1.No. multiple tag will vary how to extract those and concatenate them into a single column. I assumed that his occrrence in 3 for example:

    Use the fn:string-join() function:

    path varchar2 (4000) of comments 'string-join(comments/comment, "-").

    2. how to set the value NULL if no tag is not present. Tag in XML record number can vary.

    You don't have anything specific to do in this case.

    Missing tags with a projection in the COLUMNS clause will produce a column NULL by default.
