Rental short term for the Mac Pro Tower - transplant ramdisk hard

Hello

I am a composer based in the United Kingdom and use round of mid-2010 Mac Pro 8 Core (2 x 2.4 GHz) Intel Xeon with 64 GB RAM and four SSD drives.

I am going to Los Angeles for a project of long months of work in July and need a same computer set up to use while I'm there.  It's too expensive/complicated to ship my computer to the United States, then I'll probably rent a machine in Los Angeles.

I found in a place that I can rent a tower 2012 Mac Pro 12-Core (2.4 GHz) with 16 GB of RAM, and I wondered: if I take my four SSD drives and my RAM modules, then I simply transplant these pieces into the 12 basic machine and start as my home machine?  Or must I buy an additional empty SSD and use the Migration Wizard to clone my main boot drive?

I've never done this before, so I don't know if the boot drive will recognize that it is connected to a computer with a different motherboard etc.

Thanks for any help and advice,

Laurent

Change the RAM and the disc should be fine. I would take the sleds with your SSD and just slid the old sleigh and do drag in your.

  • 32 bit or 64its windows 7 is recommended for the mac pro?

I have a mac pro OS X Lion 10.7.5 considering to install Windows 7 but do not have 32-bit or 64-bit is recommended? Can someone advise. Thank you

    Hello DreamerChin,

Yes this (bootcamp) allows full access to the processor and other Windows components.  Since you have 8 GB of ram, using the option of bootcamp, it is preferable to obtain the 64-bit edition. If you choose this option, after you bought the disc, start in OSX and spotlight (top-right) of type "Boot camp assistant" within this wizard will help you in setting up the amount of space for Mac OSX and how much space you want for Windows 7. After completion, insert the Windows 7 disc and click ok in the wizard. Once Windows is installed, put in the Mac OSX disk provided with the computer to install Bootcamp for Windows and this will also contain the drivers in order to ensure that everything plays well with Windows / computer.

I have CS6 installed longer, so I don't remember the exact tree that he uses.  There are 2 text files, that you need to remove.  We're in the Premiere Pro installation directory, and the other is in the Adobe Media Encoder, a.  You locate the file called opencl_supported.txt.  You can find this file in the installation directories.  Delete both.  PR of restart and you should be able to choose OpenCL as the hardware renderer.

  • Where can I find the drivers and software for the LaserJet Pro M1132 MFP on Mac OS Mountain Lion?

    Hello

According to http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01664444 it doesn't seem to be a software and drivers for the LaserJet Pro M1132 MFP.

    When will they be available?

I read in http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03427752 that "today, a solution for your printer is not available for the Mountain Lion. However, an update of the driver will be available in fall 2012 . "Since it's already winter 2012, a solution will be available before January 2013?

    Thank you.

    Hi Chun Pong,

Seems to download the software I mentioned before has been deleted. This means that a new driver will be downloaded.

Please visit the site from time to time if a new software is available. I'll keep an eye as well and provide an update here, if the new software can be downloaded. It may take a few days.

  • Compatibility «?» (Mac Pro Tower / Firewire / climax together, etc..)

I take Logic Pro 9, but after looking at all the improvements for Logic Pro X, I can't wait to get up to speed.

I like the look of the improvements to the plug-in; logic adding distance (not available for LP9?); Drum Kit Designer, synthesizer, etc.

When he (LP10) announced that there is a flagrant limitation I had with my current set-up but I don't remember what the hiccup was... perhaps there is none and I could be good-to-go.  Can anyone confirm if and where I'm looking at compatibility problems?

System: Mac Pro Tower (mid-2010) 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xenon

    OS: 10.10.5 (Yosemite)

    Interface: Climax together - Firewire

If I remember, the question I met was first introduced with the announcement of Logic Pro X was he needed El Capitan - which did not offer the divers "Core Audio" / support, which means that overall height (Firewire) would be uncertain if even not work at all.  "" Looking at the "tech specs" on Logic Pro X, it supports OS X 10.10.  That looks promising (if it in fact the issue with El Capitan and the lack of support for Core Audio driver still exists).

Can I run Logic Pro X to Yosemite?

Can I run overall height (FireWire) in El Capitan without the Core Audio Driver issues / Firewire?

    Thanks in advance!

I must add, additional hardware, I am running is a UAD PCI card in the tower.

  • MAC Pro tower to new MAC Pro upgrade

Currently, I have a MAC Pro Tower and will be upgraded for the new MAC Pro, probably within 6 months.

At the present time, I have 1 HD SSD (with programs and the OS on it) and 3 hard drives regularly in-house.  One of the internal HD contains the data of my programs, while the other two are used for backups, etc.

    Here are my questions:

I plan to go with the 256 GB SSD drive in the new MAC Pro, but my question is can I get another internal HD (SSD, or other) to store my data?

I plan on the withdrawal of the other HD and their use for external storage, should I do access these drives with the new MAC Pro?

I currently have 3 external HD used to store photos and movies, I'm going to him again able to use with the new MAC Pro?

I have speakers external, purchased from the Apple Store, they will work with the new MAC Pro?

I have several printers, a scanner and on my current MAC Pro Tower, they will work on the new MAC Pro?

I would just move the stuff of my current MAC Pro Tour (programs, operating system, data) for the new MAC Pro, this is something Apple can do for me?

Needless to say, I am grateful for any help I can get in that case.

    Thank you.

1 - 2013 cylinder Mac Pro can have only a single storage device internal. Cannot add another.

I would opt for the 500 GB one.

2 - Likley Yes but yo don't say how they are related to the tour D'Argent. The 2013 has four USB 3 and 6 ports Thunderbolt Mac you can get a bolt of lightning > adopter FireWire

    3 see # 2

4 - Yes the speaker, if the USB or 3.5 mm will work

5 - the printer and scanner will work if there are drivers that are supported on El Capitan. You have not specified the OSX version on your silver tower

    6. I've heard rumors that you will now pay Apple to move information to a new system, but you should check. You can do it yourself. It is not difficult. See:

Yes, this card should work. Here's a few other specs for your Mac Pro 2006. FWIW, there are two similar cards, that you mentioned (the map that was an option at the time, these desktop computers are released) and also the BCM94322MC which is an updated version. Either should work. Nevertheless, it would be wise understand return policy in case you get a faulty card.

  • The Mac Pro has a future?

The Mac Pro has a future? Processors seem to have reached a plateau and it is no longer an Apple Display Monitor for it. I want to replace my 2009 model at the beginning because it will not support the Sierra and would prefer a Pro for an iMac as I run SETI 24/7.

I think that early 2009 Mac Pro is supported of Sierra, although...

Sierra has Siri requiring a microphone that Mac Pro does not, so we need to do, even if Apple can't sell microphone or headset for Mac Pro.

I use Sierra Beta Version2 on 2012, MacBook Air and it's fun.

  • Current best way to clean and speed up the Mac Pro?

I have owned my end of 2013 Mac Pro for about 2 years and updated RAM 64 GB. I learned to not install any 3rd party software to clean up/speed up the Mac. They just make things worse. I don't even install any antivirus software. However, I've been seeing a lot of Rainbow wheels lately. So I would ask the same question again and see if anything has changed.

I say on my Mac Pro.

    1. the SSD has more than 50% unused space.

    2. I use disk utility to check the SSD and it is good. What happened to the authorization checking?

    3. we execute the lately of OS X.

    4. the most common used software on the Mac Pro is Adobe Lightroom for photo editing.

So where should I go from here? Thank you.

  • ASUS USB 3.1 PCI card in the Mac Pro 4.1/5.1

    Hello

As the proud owner of a Mac ro 4.1 (updated to 5.1 and 2 X of Hexa-Core Xeon X 5670 CPU) I "suffer" a restriction.

And it is now old and really slow USB 2.0.

I would like to add a PCI USB 3.1 and I spotted the ASUS USB 3.1 PCI card.

Of course, this card is given only as compatible with Windows...

But I've seen a few reports of people claiming to have inserted this card in their Mac and have used successfully with several devices.

It seems that these reports are under "Yosemite".

I was wondering if they are always good with El Capitan...

I put the card in the Mac.

It seems to be recognized by the Mac Pro.

In fact looking at the system information, under "PCI" give "Expansion USB card".

    BUT:

    -No USB key I have insert mounts;

    -No USB stick plug mounts;

    -my mouse lights

    -the keyboard does not work...

    So I'm wondering if:

-El Capitan has got rid of the first USB support 3.1 to Yosemite?

    - Or if my card can be default somehow?

-If this behavior can be caused by updates, I made (Mac 4.1-5.1 online) + 8-Core CPU-online 12 Core CPU?

If anyone would be able to help me, I would be eternally grateful :-)

If so, the card can be sent to the seller...

    Kind regards.

    FRED

    Hello there Penguiner.

Looks like you bought the ASUS USB 3.1 PCI card and questions about its compatibility with your Mac Pro. The following Knowledge Base article speaks to the maps provided by Apple which have been tested and work with the Mac Pro:

On the compatibility between Mac Pro-carte models graphics

Since the ASUS card is not listed, the reference of the article could be a good recommendation to follow:

This article applies only to video cards that originally shipped with a specified Mac Pro or upgrade kit have been offered by Apple. Similar maps that are not provided by Apple may have compatibility issues and you have to work with this card provider to confirm compatibility.

Thank you for reaching out to the communities of Apple Support.

    Kind regards.
