• Weird Photoshop PSD files sizes...

  I use CS6 in Mountain Lion (so do not know if this affects other versions / operating system platforms) and I noticed something weird, saving a file.

  I have a document which is 2048 x 1536 with two layers in it, one is one bitmap, the other a vector shape with 7 points (a circle with a symbol of play in).

  Save it creates a PSD of 18.3 MB.

  Delete the shape layer and saving give me a 9.2 MB file.

  Therefore, by my math, 9.1 for a form of vector with 7 points.

  How is that even possible?

  Remove the layer of the bitmap and save with just the vector shape and the file is 249 k.

  If you have defined maximize compatibility setting in preferences, not only is the form saved as a metadata layer, but there is a flattened composite image created and saved with the PSD as well.  It could be that he is not able to compress this composite flattened particularly well.

  If you have other applications or older versions of Photoshop that need to read PSD files in your working environment, you may experience a significant saving, if you assign maximize compatibility Ask or never and save without maximum compatibility.

  Just to be clear, the older versions of Photoshop WILL read the files without maximum compatibility, if they contain no features available only in the second version (savings) of Photoshop.  When the process of "compatibility" is invoked, the old version (or external application) comes back to playback of the composite flattened, which isn't always useful anyway.

  I just installed Adobe Photoshop and trying to start the application I get this error (Mac OS X Lion):

  «Cannot open a file because the file is locked or you do not have access necessary privledges.» Use the "Get Info" command in the Finder to unlock the file or change the permissions on the files or folders inclusive. "

  I closed Photoshop and tried to start it again, this time taking dow the command + Option buttons. He opens the Scratch disk preferences dialog and it shows that the first disc of Scratch is set to "start". I tried to change it to Macintosh HD and click on 'OK', but I always get the error and the next time I open his back dialog box so that it starts. 2nd, 3rd and 4th are nothing, so I left the 1st start-up and tried to change the rest of Mac HD but the same error and then they all get zero votes to zero.  I tried to delete the preferences file and start over and its not a solution.

  Uninstall PS CC using its native uninstaller from Control Panel > & features of the program and install it using the creative cloud desktop application.

  My computer ran a big update today and I went to make some changes more, my files will open in adobe raw as usual, but when I click on open a cc image opens, but there is no picture. My JPEG files saved opens not in cc.

• Save psd files exported from Lightroom to Photoshop

  I really hope someone can help me, because I'm about to go nuts here. :-)

  When I export from Lightroom to Photoshop psd file, then I can not save the psd file in Photoshop before you close Lightroom. As soon as Lightroom is closed, there is no problem to save the Photoshop file.

  The error I get is:

  Cannot save 'Filename.psd' because

  write access has been failed.

  

  I use an iMac2013 with Yosemite 10.10.5

  I save on a WD MyCloud NAS box.

  Using an SMB connection to the NAS? If so, we have seen a lot of weird problems with SMB since it has been updated by Apple in 10.9. AFP usually works in situations.

  In Bridge cs6 look in preferences (Ctrl + K or Cmd + K) Bridge, then under file types Associations, where you can choose which applications to open files of the bridge.

  Open a psd file in Photoshop CC 2015, the program responds by saying that the file is not compatible. I made the file CC2014 or CC2015 and then worked on it in CS6. Now it does not work on two programs

  Changes with each new version of Photoshop PSD file format, so it is built into the functionality of compatibility built in for when you save should you want to go back and use earlier versions. It was not many changes between PS2014 and PS2015 but CS6 is old and there are differences.  It seems that if you have which off preference saving mode of compatibility and openness to CS6 corrupt the file. .

  

  To activate the dialog box above go to preferences under Edit and change there.

  

  If your file is large PSD files can be repaired with a tool like repair PSD of Phoenix, but you'll probably lose something.

  Hi all. I am working on a few illustrations in photoshop CS5 and save periodcally, but after closing the file I can't open up. I get the message "Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document." I don't have any idea what may be causing this. IM using windows 7 If this is important or not and I started it on the same computer that I now have problems with. I'm not openeing another file type in photoshop in other words, it has been started and saved as a photoshop document and now it does not open. Please help if you have any suggestions, I'd be very happy. Thank you.

  which should be .psd or. PSD for a photoshop psd file. Sometimes the files may end

  to the top with two extensions, which confuses photoshop.

  Example: my file.png.psd

  Also you may need to enable display the extensions of the file types in the folder options.

  Try to open the file in photoshop by using file > open and choose psd.
