Replace the drive of the ASM

Hello

I installed a RAC Oracle 12 c.

Now, I want to replace the shared for a bigger storage.

The database has two groups of disks with redundancy: external DATA, FRA.

Is it true that I have call the commands to replace?

SQL > ALTER DISKGROUP DATA REPLACE DISC WITH new_asm_disk1 old_asm_disk1 POWER 5.

SQL > ALTER DISKGROUP FRA REPLACE DRIVE WITH new_asm_disk2 old_asm_disk2 POWER 5.

These commands cause interruptions in service of database?

Thank you.

JC

Normally, no downtime is required to grow/shrink asm if the disks are presented from SAN.

In the case of discs with through HBA:

1 prepare the disk and present it to the hosts in the cluster.

2. rescan to discover drives on each node scsi bus with

echo "-" >/sys/class/scsi_host/host/balayage

3. configure the multipath/udev if used.

4 create the partition.

5 assign permissions.

6. Add/replace or disks with asmca or sqlplus.

7. remove the old drives.

  • Is it possible to replace the hard drive with an SSD? or would it be too expensive?

Is it possible to replace the hard drive with an SSD?

or would it be too expensive?

Yes.  There are several alternatives.  I found a way relatively inexpensive, using a map of mSATA (very small SSD) and an adapter to connect it to the connector IDE 44 pin internal of my PowerBook.  It works very well.  Rather than repeat what I posted previously, you can watch these two topics (which also has good info, other users)

FYI - I have used the adapter is even cheaper now

  • Problems with folder permissions after replacing the hard drive

    Hello

Recently, I replaced the hard drive on my mac.  Already before the replacement, I got the files that I had locked.  Now I'm unable to open the file.  I get the error "the folder 'nom_de_dossier' can not be opened because you don't have permission to see its content".  I looked at the permissions for the folder and everything he says is fetch.  I ran a command in the Terminal and for one of the records in question, that's what I see-

    drwxr-x - 13 501 501 442 5 July 2013 MG

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Running OS X El Capitan

    10.11.4 version

    Try this first:

Start the mac all holding the SHIFT key, it is slow, connection, and then select Restart from the Apple menu.

    When this does not help:

Reset password utility in the recovery Partition:

    1. Restart your computer from the recovery partition.
    2. Open disk utility and run a repair permissions on your boot volume (in ElCapitan click the first aid tab). Once this completed, close disk utility. We do this for good measure.
    3. Open a Terminal from the Utilities menu. Type in resetpassword and select your user (NOT administrator system/root) account in the menu drop-down.
    4. Click on the Reset button at the bottom of the window ACL section and Reset the folder permissions.
    5. Exit the utility password and return to the main recovery menu.
    6. On your keyboard, press + Q and restart your computer. It is very important that you don't hold down the power button to exit the recovery session, or the ACL Reset to occur.

    Hello

Yes, you can replace the hard drive with another. Make sure the hard drive fits into the machine and is a SATA drive. Otherwise it shouldn´t be a problem.
With regard to recovery: Yes, you can install Vista just by using the recovery CD. And NO, there are no special procedures that apply after replacing the hard drive.

That's it, I want to install nice... ;)

  • Replacing the hard drive on my Portege A200

Hi, I would like to replace the hard drive in my a200 with a bigger, but I don't know how to remove the current, just wondering if any of you guys could help me?

    Thank you james

    Hello James

Unfortunately the A200 does not for me, but the concept is still the same. At first check if you can find coverage of HARD drive in the lower corner of your unit. If you can't find it from the outside as it comes to the very complicated situation. It is possible that the HARD drive is under the keyboard.

If you have not many don't experience do it alone, because you can damage something, and the guarantee is no longer valid.

    Good luck!

  • HP G61-322NR: how to replace the hard drive of my laptop

I'm new, please help.  Hard drive my laptop has failed and must be replaced.  Can I order a similar disk (a 160 GB SATA drive) on ebay.  Question: when I receive and replace the disk, what steps should I take to the BIOS of the laptop to recognize the new disk, make the primary, and then install the operating system Windows 7 from my recovery DVD?

Perhaps the BIOS sees the drive automatically and I can simply use the Reccovery DVD?

    Thank you!

It really is exactly as simple as that. And I'm glad that my metaphor of the car has been heard.

You want to use the same as the original HARD disk, which is a 1 TB hard drive 5400 RPM?

You can use any standard 2.5 "HDD for notebook computers on the market today. Please buy a faster HARD drive which has 7200 RPM and large cache such as

  • Cannot complete the recovery process after replacing HARD drive

    Hello

I changed my hard drive it for 15 days because he showed abnormalities, so I bought a new hard drive Seagate Western brand with the same technical characteristics as the existing hard drive (product for the product).

I was then on TOSHIBA HDD RECOVERY to burn to CD system recovery disks, then I went to replace the hard drive.

After the change, I raised my PC with system restore CD.
The procedure is successfully completed and orders of comments asking me to remove the disk and restart the PC.

I raise the PC, everything goes well, launch windows, installation of perfect records system then comes the stage of installation and settings of the system here after the error message:

"Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on the hardware in the computer."

Then it asks me to restart, then it comes back every time on this message, I'm stuck on this step.
I tried to change the mode of the disc source hard 'compatibility' instead of 'AHCI' but it's even worse, it completely without error buggy.

Please give me an explanation of this phenomenon.

    Sincerely.

    Guillaume

Have you tried to repeat the whole recovery procedure?
If this is not the case, do.

I recommend to format the whole HARD drive and create an NTFS partition.
Then start the laptop using the Toshiba Recovery disk and start the recovery procedure.

I read about the problem of disk HARD similar in the past and especially NFS partition creation has helped to solve these problems.

  • Replacing the drive HARD on Portege R700

    Hello

I just ordered a R700 and hope to upgrade the HARD drive of 320 GB for one SSD OCZ Vertex 2.
Is it easy to replace the hard drive in the R700? Should I remove the keyboard is a Panel on the back?
What size hard disk will - 2.5 "or 1.8"?
A SSD will be simply connect using existing connections, or something else there?

    See you soon.

According to the specifications of the laptop Portege R700 has 2.5 HARD drive is HDD with SATA interface, so I think that you should order 2.5 SSD with standard SATA connectors.

HARD drive is placed on the bottom side near the cooling vent and it is fixed with a screw only.

Remove the screws and HARD drive. You will see how the HARD disc is placed and how it must be removed.
It's very simple and you can do it alone.

  • Satellite L50D - Boot problems after replacing the hard drive

I just upgraded my hard drive of the pathetic crod 5400 they provide to a SSHD@7200rpm, but now have a major issue.

I initially image the operating system from the old hard drive to the new drive and have had chronic start-up problems (1-3-4 attempts to start to succeed if it fails at any time (often to the Toshiba start screen)).

I reinstalled from a drive under Win 8.1 plain own ENT (trying to avoid the bloatware) and it is exactly the same number and is what I used to format the laptop very well with previously and had previously worked.

I tried reformatting and reinstalling (by removing all partitions on each attempt) to the CSM, unsafe UEFI and UEFI secure. MCS is a straight line never works not proceed and both UEFI methods have the same exact result.

I tried with original restore disks and it seems to work (not had time to fully test) but I don't want the bloatware and it shouldn't be serious since, if I were a customer who forgot to make restore disks (too often) and just have to have a failed hard drive or replaced sacrificed the laptop would be now a door stop.

This seems as bad as Apple to lock people in.

So I would appreciate ideas of people to please, I don't know if there is a program that is supposed to take place on a new drive as PS3 etc (I doubt it), but that leads me into the wall, and will be the last time that I consider Toshiba as anything other than a joke, if there is no solution.

I had to replace the hard disks many times in my previous Toshiba laptops and were devoid of this crod, it has something to do with UEFI which seems more a nuisance than a help right now.

    TIA.

    Hello

In my opinion, you should first check if the startup problem is related to the new installed HARD drive or new installed system.
You said that the laptop fails to start up often to the Toshiba start screen.

The splash screen appears during the POST (power on self-test) procedure. During this test, the material will be checked.
I m wondering if the hybrid SSD/HDD isn't recognised by the BIOS during this particular step.

From my point of few, this could be the reason why the system cannot be started.

    Another important note:
The 8.1 win requires enable start secure as well as the UEFI boot mode.
Therefore, you must enable both options in the BIOS.

Last but not least check if you are using the latest BIOS version as latest firmware for the hybrid SSD/HDD

  • How to replace the hard drive internal on Satellite 2450?

    Hello!
Last month, after a BSOD displayed (I don't have the code of error message, unfortunately) my laptop decided to not work again.
At the start, he reached the start menu and then displays a black screen... no message, no auto restart... nothing. Just a weird noise coming from the hard drive (like a scratched cd).

I tried to format the drive, but without success. After choosing the boot source, trying to read the cd and the black screen appears again, with no message. I checked if the Bay of cd is not working properly and it is. (I think)
So I replaced the HDD in my satellite 2450. A new toshiba ide 2.5 30 GB hard drive. But when I install a new one, the system does not recognize.

The control panel of the Bios says that "no hard disk" is available, and I can not change this option. (locked)
With the Windows Xp cd in the drive, the Setup program runs all properly until the 'select drive' format menu, witch says that no hard drive is recognized (with a new drive hard in).

I don't really know what to do!
Is something missing in this process?

    Thank you for the patience

    Hello

The laptop did not recognize a new HARD drive. Which is one reason why Win XP cannot follow the additional installation steps

I can't say exactly why the HARD drive is not recognized, but the 30 GB IDE should be ok.
I remember one of my friends had a similar problem with the new HARD drive.
Some hard drives have a jumper (3.5 HARD drive and 2.5 IDE HARD drive too)
Maybe you should check if a rider has been set to the right position (slave?).

Check it otherwise that I recommend to test with another new HARD drive

In the worst case the disc HARD controller might be faulty, but it would mean replacing a motherboard
