  I'm a thinkpad user first. I received my W530 yesterday, and I'm very happy with it. There's a thing with the keyboard I took the wrong layout. Unfortunately I don't have enough money to buy a new keyboard backlit with the provision of the United States (mine is now NL, Dutch). Is it possible that I can get the keyboard replaced or refer to lenovo for a replacement keyboard? It is a real disappointment and a stupid mistake. Seize this moment is horrible.   The only keyboard won't work. You need the motherboard on your machine a light CONNECTORS for the keyboard. I do not think that your computer has this type of motherboard you are looking for a good first montherboard.

  In response to your request, I enclose you HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service of Guide. Inside you can find the procedure to replace the keyboard properly, as well as for keyboards supported, compatible part numbers. Controls on page 59 of the manual for a list of replacement keyboards and the replacement procedure.

  Unfortunately, in the list, it does not appear that the options are backlit.

  No you can not just replace the keyboard, you need to replace the motherboard too (if available) because you need ports/connectors for all thos lights. And it will be a very expensive change.

  Well, I don t found any documents concerning the keyboard replacement procedure.
  But as far as I know to remove the keyboard, you must first remove the battery. You need to remove a strip that is placed at the top of the keyboard.
  You will find 2 screws which fix the keyboard. Remove the screws, then lift the keyboard and unplug the cable.

  Please note: If you open Notepad (keyboard) you will lose the warranty! In this case, you must contact the ASP. Be careful.

  I m not very good if the removal of the Portege R500 keyboard is easy.
  As far as I know it s more complicated as on other series of laptops and in this case I recommend you contact the ASP in your country for assistance.

  All I know is the keyboard adheres to the insulation and the two parties stuck on the medium frame with double-sided tapes.
