Which hard drive do I need for my compaq presario CQ60
which hardd drive do I need for my Compaq Presario CQ60? And where would be a good place to try to get a quality for a lower price? Thanks advance.
Hello
The player at the link below is an example of one that would be great for your laptop computer, as long as it's the same capacity or larger than your current HARD drive.
The procedure to replace the hard drive is detailed from Page 51 in your & Maintenance Guide.
Once this is done, simply use your recovery DVD to reinstall the operating system on the new drive.
If you do not have your recovery discs, you can order a replacement set using the link below.
If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the United States, contact HP here.
If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

Where can I download free drivers for a Compaq Presario laptop
Original title: Download drivers
Do you know where to download free drivers for computer compaq presario laptop?
Hello
Check with Compaq Support, their drivers and documentation online and ask in their forums.
Other good sources are the real manufacturers such as Intel, ATI, Nvidia, RealTek or that which
is the manufacturer of the device OEM.Compaq - support, drivers and documentation online

-Free - DriverView utility displays the list of all device drivers currently loaded on your system. For
each driver in the list, additional useful information is displayed: load address of the driver, description,.
version, product name, company that created the driver and more.

Control Panel - Device Manager - graphics card - note the brand and complete model
your video card - double - tab of the driver - write version information. Now, click on set to update driver
(this can do nothing as MS is far behind the certification of drivers) - then do a right click - Uninstall - REBOOT
This will refresh the driver stack.Repeat this for network - card (NIC), Wifi network, sound, mouse, and keyboard if 3rd party with
their own software and drivers and all other main drivers that you have. Now in system manufacturer (Dell, HP, Toshiba as examples) site (in a restaurant), then the manufacturer of the device
site (Realtek, Intel, Nvidia, ATI, for example) and get their latest versions. (Look for the BIOS, Chipset and)
software updates on the site of the manufacturer of the system here.)Download - SAVE - go to where you put them - right click - RUN AS ADMIN - reset after each
installation.Always check in the Device Manager - tab drivers version you install actually shows up.
This is because some restore drivers before the most recent is installed (particularly that audio drivers) so
install a driver - reboot - check that it is installed and try again if necessary.Repeat to the manufacturers - BTW in the DO NOT RUN THEIR SCANNER device - check manually
by model.Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

Recovery of Phoenix for HP - Compaq Presario v6604AU crisis
Hello
Recently, I got my - computer v6604AU laptop compaq presario with phoenix BIOS and AMD Athlon dual core processor - brick with a bad flash update.
I tried to use flash files extracted update bios slot location
1. I used them to create the phoenix recovery disk in a 1 gb USB Thumb Drive.
The configuration of the bios for my laptop contains also 2 WPH files: 30CFF34A. WPH and 30CFF34B. WPH
I used the first because it was newer.
2. removed the battery and the power, you press Win + B (only this combination of keys the key USB LED lights)
But the USB twinkling like when its being used to read. The CPU fan speed remains low. And all of the other lights out as stated in many forums.
Then I let the key combination, I insisted on this.
Leave the computer on for about 20 min, but the flash does not.
Please me know anything useful if you fall on it.
Thanks in advance.
[Edit]
Recently, tried the same thing with the floppy USB drive
Like crazy laptop beeps and the floppy drive reads data. (This means that the recovery option is available for this BIOS)
but nothing happens after reading the disk.
Maybe I'm missing something.
May be that the combination of files is not correct.
Need help!
It seems that you are making progress with the floppy drive. Use one of the USB ports on the left side of the laptop, they are soldered directly on the system board. Although this should not make a difference, it is best to assume this will be.
If the BIOS file won't work not erase the floppy drive and then repeat with the other file.
It can also be better to assume that there is something wrong with that BIOS update and use an older BIOS which is known to work. If you know your a recent, so it is best.
If you still have your HP tools partition on the hard drive, try the procedure affects 'Windows' and 'B' with nothing plugged into the USB port. The HP Tools partition is supposed to contain the latest BIOS to work to bring relief to a corrupt update.
Are you running W7, if this is the case and you tried to update the BIOS under W7, then which caused your original problem. This is because the BIOS files were designed to be executed in a Vista environment.

Update size of HDD for old Compaq Presario V5000
I have a Compaq Presario V5000 older n/p ET826UA #ABA that uses a Toshiba MK8025GAS 80 GB hard drive. The laptop is in perfect condition and I'm still very happy with it except disk space HARD is a bit cramped these days.
Could someone offer manufacturer part numbers that are compatible with this laptop that would allow me to increase the storage space of HARD drive to something more as big as in the range of 250-320 GB? I'm hoping to find something of surplus for a reasonable price.
I found online of many HARD drives that seem to agree, but have doubts about the requirements of the serial interface. The OEM drive is spec'd like an ATA-6 but was not sure if a disk ATA-7 or 8 - ATA / SATA-8 would be backward compatible for this older HD laptop chipset.
The other question is what is the largest size HDD I can go to without having to change the BIOS. Any help on these questions would be appreciated.

It's an IDE (PATA) hard drive. The Radeon Xpress 200 M chipset will support hard drives LBA that is 160 GB or more if you are only constrained by the market and not by the material. However, the market is a constraint as the price for the IDE drives laptop received top ridiculous as supply decreases. I suggest a seller on eBay with solid feedback. You will have difficulty finding something bigger than a 320 gig and more chance to find 160 gig drives. 500 gig PATA drives have been made, but no one is loose Cup of them. ATA - 6 is also fast had real IDE drives. Make sure that you do not get a SATA drive more modern with plastic connectors. Your will have a double row of pins in brass for the connection. You can speed things up a bit by finding at least a 5400 RPM spin speed. Yours is 4200 that is very pokey according to current standards. If you play your cards right there's even a 7200 RPM PATA drives to circulate there.
Just a suggestion.

I already paid for and installed 10 windows on my Compaq Presario SR1320NX. But there is no driver from the internet. I can't connect to internet at all. Desperately need help.
On the HP support site:
Desktop Compaq Presario SR1300 series - retired products the following products have been removed and is no longer supported by HP. All official HP support for these products has been removed from this web site.
I recommend using a usb wifi dongle which has Windows 10 support.

Windows 7 Audio drivers for a compaq presario V5031AE required
I just installed windows 7 on my compaq presario V5031AE but idiot not to get the sound to work, it's a problem of driver, but windows 7 can not help me. Can anyone help?
HP/Compaq release Win 7 drivers for your model when Win 7 comes in stock, you will be lucky. If they do not produce them, you'll be out of luck because they alone are responsible for their own drivers. Mike Hall MVP - Windows Experience http://msmvps.com/blogs/mikehall/
