Replacement of a few pages in my PDF is strangely small file size

Hello!

I recently reviewed a document 400 printing pages by replacing 7 pages in the PDF file and it is the strangely smaller file size!

The original has been exported as a PDF of a book consisting of 61 files InDesign (184 MB) file.

The review was one more round about way-opening and export files individual InDesign 6 to the appropriate output settings and replacing 7 unique pages in the PDF file and save as a new version number (108 MB).

The reason for the series on how to change the project is because all files are stored on a server and it is easier to make simple changes while working remotely.

No idea what is causing the size of the file to be much smaller?

Thank you for taking the time!

Probably you have registered under a new name (SAVE AS) and before you used to REGISTER. Save the leaves wasted space, save as it recovers.

  • PDF of LiveCycle Designer file size

    Hello.

    I have installed trial of LiveCycle Designer ES2 (v9.0.0.0.2009...).  I created a seemingly simple PDF form, but the file size is greater than 1 MB.  Is it "normal"?  It seems like it might / should be only a few hundred KB, if that.

    Hi Srini,

    This bug has been fixed in a previous version, so shouldn't be a problem in the ES2.

    One thing to keep in mind is that by default LC Designer incorporates fonts in a form (see file > form properties > Save Options). This does not add too much to a form, if you use an efficient police force such as Myriad Pro. However, if you use other fonts, such as Times New Roman, then this can add several hundred KB.

    Also if you use images in the form, then uncheck the embed images in the object > field palette. The image will still be available when the user opens the form in Acrobat/Reader, but will be more effective.

    Hope that helps,

    Niall

  • Edit PDFS using the Photoshop file size problem

    Hello

    Don't know if this should go in the forum of Acrobat or Photoshop forum because it uses both.

    Steps to reproduce the problem:

    1. Open a PDF file in Adobe Acrobat format. PDF files, I work with that are mainly analyses, so that they are just an image with a text of OCRB.
    2. Tools-> Edit PDF.
    3. Right-click on a page, change using Adobe Photoshop
    4. In Photoshop, make changes, which is not serious.
    5. Save the temporary file and close Photoshop.
    6. Save the PDF in Acrobat

    At this stage the balloons PDF in many, many times its original size. The test that I have went from 300 KB to 6 400 KB. I can then go and optimize the PDF file to bring it down, but we are trying to optimize a workflow. Auditing of the use of the space has the same percentages allocated to each category as before. The number of pixels is not changed, the bit rate has not changed...

    I fiddled with the Adobe PDF presets with no luck - in fact, I can't yet figure out how, in this workflow, to use a particular preset, because in order to make the Photoshop automatically propagate changes to the PDF, I can save only, not to save under...

    How can I avoid this problem? I'm on a PC using Photoshop CC 2015.1.2 and Acrobat Pro DC 2015. Thanks for your help!

  • PDF Split into smaller files, grouped by common words

    Hello

    I'm doing the transition toward an office paperless and in my digital excitement 263 pages at once last night, thought it would be fairly easy to sort through them.  Indeed, it is not as easy as I thought!

    Each page is entirely OCR and searchable.  I would like to be able to 'find' certain words (IE. "Starbucks") and have all my recipes Starbucks get highlighted or selected, such that I can then merge them into a single file.  Can someone tell me if this is possible and if so, how?

    Thank you very much!

    lulubean

    It's possible, but not so simple. A custom script can be used to search in the file, and then extract the pages where a word or phrase appear as a new PDF.

  • Unable to save a file "smaller file" pdf from illustrator 5.5

    We recently insalled Adobe Standard 5.5

    I often save in Illustrator PDF files using the PDF options available in the menu bar dropdown PDF when you save files. Usually I will record a Visual as a "smallest file size" or make use of the option of "high quality print" for other files etc.

    Why can't do this on CS5.5?

    In addition, the color is not accurate at all!

    Help, please

    Hi Scott - I found the thread following on the net. So, I looked at my time machine backups and copied the files from there, that I then pasted in my settings folder as you suggest.

    Ta da! Everything works again!

    No idea how I could restore these settings from a backup?

    Thank you!

    The predefined settings PDF resident in/Root/Library/Application Support / Adobe / Adobe PDF / Settings /.

    After installing 10.6.5, 6 predefined files have been removed from the settings folder. The folder hierarchy remained himself, it's just that some of the content in the "settings" have been deleted. I solved the problem by copying settings deleted a backup files.

    These are the files that have been deleted:

    More small file Size.joboptions

    Press quality.joboptions

    PDFX4 2008.joboptions

    PDFX3 2002.joboptions

    PDFX1 2001.joboptions

    Print.joboptions of high quality

    These files have not been removed:

    Standard.joboptions

    PDFA1b 2005 RGB.joboptions

    PDFA1b 2005 CMYK.joboptions

    Pages.joboptions oversized

    Someone at Adobe Indesign community support directed me to restore these files from a backup that solved the problem.

  • Word of the file size: .docx converted in PDF format

    Hello

    I use Adobe acrobat X pro and I need to convert a Word to PDF file to join with all do us commercial offers. The file size is important in order to limit the size of the mailbox content. At the moment my Word file is 25 and it's ok, but when I convert it the result is a 120 KB PDF... I did some research in the Acrobat community and they often explain to use "Save as other", but I do not have these (maybe it came with version XI).

    I would like to know if anyone has an idea of what I can do with my version of acrobat to reduce the size of the file.

    Thank you

    Ben

    PDF Optimization is not available in Std AFAIK. However, you asked on the conversion of a WORD file. The best way to keep the size down is to NOT use save them in Adobe PDF format. Who's using PDF Maker (the Acrobat in WORD menu) which adds tags and many other things that inflate a default PDF. If you do not use this option, then use preferences to disable the tags and other elements in the file (like all bookmarks and all the rest). The easiest way is to print to the Adobe PDF printer. Don't forget to keep your simple fonts. It is better to embed fonts when you send a PDF file to others (especially from PC to MAC Linux as the fonts on the system may be different). Don't use only not the smaller file size settings. Use Std as a minimum or press options or Print embed all the fonts as subsets. The MST is fine as long as people use Acrobat or Reader for viewing, but other viewers may not recognize the basic fonts Adobe.

  • How can I add 100 blank pages to a PDF doc?

    I need to duplicate 1 page 100 times in a PDF document for printing. How can I quickly and easily make?

    Thank you!

    D

    Open the thumbnails pane. Click the thumbnail you want to duplicate, and then by holding down the Alt/Option key, drag it to the right. I have few smaller signs and a large blue bar will appear when you drag.

    Who's going to duplicate page. Now, select both pages that are the same and copy again. Do that enough times until you have 100 pages added that you need.

  • Printing a Web page to a .pdf or .xps file generates a file but it is empty. How can I fix it? I have Firefox 40.0 on a new computer laptop for Windows 10

    When I print a Web page to a .pdf or .xps file, it creates a new file, but file Explorer says it's 0 KB in size. These .pdf files will open, but they are white - the only thing that appears is the outline of a page, without anything in the outline. When I print an .xps file, File Explorer shows that it contains 0 KB. When I try to open it, I get a message saying that the XPS Viewer cannot open the file. These things just started for me a few days after I installed Firefox 40.0 on a new computer laptop of Toshiba Satellite with 10 Home Windows operating system. I have the latest version of Flash Player (in fact, I just tried redownloading and reinstalling the current version; that does not solve the problem). I tried to change the format by default to print to .pdf file, but that has not solved the problem. I contacted the chat Windows support site; They told me that it was not a Windows problem. Is this a Firefox problem? If so, you can tell me how to solve the problem, please?

    First of all, try to disable the extensions to see if that helps this, then try safe mode.

  • How to scan multiple pages to a pdf file using the PIXMA MG7520 on Windows 8.0? Help, please!

    I recently got a PIXMA MG7520 for a gift.  It works very well with my laptop / Tablet lenovo under Windos 8.0.  The only downside for the HP all-in-one it replaced is that she doesn't have an ADF.  That being said, there must be a way to scan multiple pages into a pdf file.  I need help to understand the thing.  Thanks in advance!

    Hi mdtolbert54,

    There is a program that comes with the printer called the IJ Scan Utility that can help you with scanning multiple pages in a single PDF document.  To do this, please follow these steps:

    1. on your keyboard, press the Windows key.

    2 start typing IJ SCAN UTILITY. The search window opens while you type. Once the UTILITY SCAN IJ is displayed, select and open it.

    3. in the Scan from Canon IJ utility window that opens, click SETTINGS... at the bottom right of the window. The settings dialog box is displayed.

    4. click on the SCAN of DOCUMENT option in the left pane of the window.

    5. in the SAVE the SETTINGS in the window section, you select the recording format and the location of the document you are about to analysis.

    (a.) in the FILE NAME field, specify the name you want to give the file. By default, the file name will begin with IMG; You can remove IMG and change it to anything you want to name the file.

    b.) b.) in the field of DATA FORMAT, use the arrow menu drop-down to select PDF (Multiple Pages).

    (c.) in the field RECORD in, please go to the area where you want the file to be saved once it is scanned in. By default, the file will be saved in the MY DOCUMENTS folder.

    6. once all settings have been selected, click on the OK button at the bottom of the window to save the changes. The IJ Scan Utility main screen is displayed.

    7. click the DOCUMENT button. Housing starts scanning. Click CANCEL to cancel the scan if necessary. Scanned documents are saved in the location of the selected folder previously specified in the SETTINGS... window.

    If you find that you need to analysis advanced options such as setting resolution, brightness, contrast, saturation, balance colors, etc. in addition to the options selected above, please click the SCANGEAR button on the utility main screen Scan of IJ, then adjust the necessary elements.

    Once the above parameters are set for the scanning of documents, in the future, you need only launch the utility of digitization of IJ, then press the PAPER button for the analysis (unless you want to make changes to the settings).

    I hope this helps!

    Hello @RMorley,

    Thank you for visiting the Forums from the HP Support! I understand that when you print pdf documents on your HP Officejet Pro L7680, it prints a blank page.

    There could be a few things gong here, we will make sure that you have not configured it to use a separator between the draw sheet:

    1. go to your devices and printers

    2. right-click on your JO L7680

    3. navigate to printing properties

    4. click on the Advanced tab

    5. click on the Separator Page

    It was empty or was there something put there? If something is listed here please delete and apply the changes.

  • Script that export two separate PDF files of paper with two pages AND change the name of the file, the number two of the PDF

    OBS: Script InDesign CS3:

    I have a document with two pages but a file name!

    I need a script which

    1 export the two pages in format PDF separated two - so NOT a single PDF file with two pages but two PDF files

    2. the first PDF file must have the same name as the document - for example .indd13ESW110020216TC0-> ESW110020216TC013.pdf

    3. the second PDF file will be added to the last number - so .indd14ESW110020216TC0-> ESW110020216TC014.pdf

    Is it possible to integrate this script:

    var doc = app.activeDocument;
    var _PDFfile = new File('\\\\testserver\\' + app.activeDocument.name.replace (/\.indd$/, '.pdf'));

    var _PDFExportPreset = app.pdfExportPresets.item('MyPdfSetting');
    if (_PDFExportPreset == null){
       alert('PDF Export Presets not found');

        doc.exportFile(ExportFormat.pdfType, _PDFfile, false,_PDFExportPreset);

    Maybe the pages had form fields, comments, or anything else. These are preserved.

    If it is a problem to look at the same place (Pages panel) to first remove the old pages, then insert the new.

  • Can remove pages of a PDF file

    In general, I can't delete the pages of my PDF files first. Acrobat displays the error message "one or more pages could not be deleted." In General, if I close and restart Acrobat a few times, I am able to delete the pages in question. Is there a way to get the delete function works the first time?

    This happens in some versions of Acrobat that have not been updated. In Acrobat, try help > search for the updates and update to the latest version.

  • Standardize the page to merged PDF sizes?

    Hello world

    I'm trying to fuse together a PowerPoint 07 ' and an Excel ' 07, both set to provisions of page A4 landscape, in Acrobat 9 Standard.  However, in the final merged PDF, the old Excel pages are huge compared to the PowerPoint presentation - about 6 times greater.

    Any ideas how I can force Adobe PDF merged into the same page size and orientation of output?

    Thanks in advance,

    Simon

    I had this same problem. I sent someone a document 8 pages to which they signed 2 and scanned and delivered. When I tried to replace these 2 pages in my original CD (giving me a document completed and signed) the pages that I have inserted were lower than those of the original.

    Follow THESE STEPS: the mouse on the left side of the bottom of the page in Adobe Acrobat format. You can see which pages are FALSE. In my case, it was the originals that were too big. I then printed them via the Adobe PDF printer. Select "fit to printable area" (check these dimensions which will be 8.5 x 11) when the document was printed in this way, it was easy to adapt to these other pages as they were now all the same size. Not to play with the zoom which is a nightmare.
