Replacement of the CPU on my Satellite 1000-s158

Hello from Russia! Sorry for the poor knowledge of English, the message is translated by the translator of the computer. With the greatest pleasure a few years that I use Toshiba Satellite 1000-s158.

He is very happy with the purchase. Unfortunately, my income does not allow to get more modern notebook. If the replacement of the processor for this notebook on most recent processor is possible? And if so, on what model CPU? Grateful in advance. Yours faithfully, Andrey, Russia, Arkhangelsk

Hello

Unfortunately, it is not possible to change the processor of your laptop. Your motherboard is built in such a way that it is not possible.

Best wishes

    Hello

I have a Satellite A200-130 with CPU CoreDuo 1.86 and I think to replace to Core2Duo 2.0 mainly for better performance and virtualization options of ot.
    Anyone done this?

The replacement of the CPU is usually not very easy on laptops.
It s more delicate than the replacement on desktop computers.

First of all, you should check if your chipset supports the Core2Duo 2 GHz CPU.
Generally, you will find information on the Intel page.

Second, he must know if BIOS would support the new Core2Duo processor.
It is very important because the table fan which is stored in the BIOS which controls cooling modules. If the cooling modules n t work properly then the laptop overheats and may damage the material of the laptops.

These updates are not advisable and certainly not possible

  • Satellite A30 303: Question on replacement of the CPU

    Hi all

I recently tried to clean the dust from my laptop.
I removed the cpu and trying to put it back in the place I folded one of the pins. Now, I tried to draw on the pins but have no chance that the laptop shows just a white screen.

Is there someone who can fix bent pins?

Also where can I get a replacement CPU attached to a radiator of? I'm after a 3.06 GHz intel pentium 4

    Hello

It is a very stupid situation. It seems you have damage the CPU!
Usually, this occurs if users have no experience and try to remove and to correct some things that should be done by a technician.

Impossible to fix the CPU damage only the replacement could help.

    > but have no luck as the laptop shows just a white screen.
    > Is there anyone who can fix bent pins?

As you say that you tried to start Notepad. How did insert the processor on the motherboard if the pins are bent?

Regarding your question about the replacement of the CPU; the replacement of the CPU is not advisable on laptops and not easy. Especially the microcode and DMI must be updated after the replacement of the CPU and the motherboard. Without these updates, the CPU on the 600 MHz or the laptop overheating or primer will not work!

    > Also where could I get a replacement CPU attached to a radiator of? I'm after a 3.06 GHz intel pentium 4

If you want to know what s CPU could be compatible, please check your type of chipset used on this laptop and check the specifications of the Intel page!

Finally, I would recommend asking a technician a laptop get the laptop working again.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A50-110 crashed - replacement of the CPU

    Hello.

I should say this microprocessor appreciate supports laptop Satellite A50-110, crashed and they wanted change.

    Thank you

    Hello

You want to replace the CPU?
    Do you think its faulty?
    How did you check that?

To be honest this A50 is truly oldie the CPU that was used is Intel Pentium M 725 (1.60 GHz, 2 MB Cache, 400 MHz FSB, L2)

I'm not sure that this chipset was built in but generally if you want to use the new CPU, ensuring that the chipset would support the new processor.
But even if the chipset would support the new processor, there is always a question regarding BIOS support it might be possible that BIOS wouldn't treat a new CPU.

  • Satellite L300-11F - looking for the replacement of the CPU

Hello all, I am pleased to join this forum preety. I'll start with one of my problems using my laptop, I'm looking for someone who can help me.
I usually play WoW of this unit, but since the time my computer does not help me. The gameplay becomes slow and slower, even taking BSOD-s preety often. I'm not shure what problem I face, but the cooling system is fine (not so much dust), and I don't really know what I need to check.
I think that a CPU upgrade should improve my game & after all the experience with this computer at least a little bit, but for this I also need some advice too.

Where can I see what chipset is my feet bar and then see the list of caught CPU supported?

Will I get an improvement by replacing the CPU and the thermal paste (this way I will not have the overheating problem)?

  • Temperature of the CPU in Toshiba Satellite l500-1ef

    Hello!

I bought Toshiba Satellite l500-1ef November and up to now laptop worked brilliant. Three-four weeks, touchpad and little space to the left of the touchpad began to be hot. I checked the temperature of the CPU in Toshiba PC Health Monitor (v 1.4.1.64), and it was about 30%, with 40% of the cooler. The temperature is increased over time and now, after four weeks, the touchpad is warmer, and is approximately 45-50% od CPU temperature, with 50 to 60% the use of the cooler.

I am using laptop for Internet only, work in MS Word and listen the music, sometimes I play Warcraft III on it, I have Windows 7.

Should I go with PC support, or it is normal in my model?

    Best regards

    Hi mate

It s nothing unusual that the touchpad would be hot from the CPU and cooling modules are placed near the touchpad.
So in my opinion, you shouldn't be worried about it.

Laptop s temperature can increase after a certain time of use
In this case due to the dust inside the cooling fans
If you wish, you can try to remove the dust using a jet of compressed air
I do from time to time and this helps to keep the temperature at the lower level

    Welcome them

  • Alienware 17 4 beeps after the replacement of the CPU

    Hello

My, one month out of warranty, and Alienware 17A worked well until Christmas morning.

When I tried to put one I had no sign of life except 7 beeps.

From my research it seemed like the CPU or the motherboard.

I decided to play and replace the processor i7-4710mq.

After following all the steps according to the owner's manual and carry anti passive gear, I have everything back together.

When I tried to start it again, it gives me 4 beeps which I believe is insufficient RAM or RAM read/write.

I have two laptops Alienware 17 identical so I replaced the ram in the laptop to work with this ram and it starts fine for ram, it would seem that the ram is good.

I'm looking for one direction a little bit to what else could be causing these 4 beeps please.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

This looks like a problem with the motherboard. A failure of the CPU is quite rare, and since you have already replaced the CPU and tested the ram with another system, which leaves the motherboard, which is the only other component that could cause this kind of problem.

  • Replacement of the CPU

Just curious.  The CPU is a replaceable unit by the user, or is it welded in place?  HMM seems to indicate that it is a fairly simple replacement, but I was wondering if someone here had tried it.

    Thank you!

T400 spare parts for the system

Do VINTAGE, you will see either *, *, or N.

N = not a replaceable component by the user

    • * identifies the parts that are fairly simple to replace, requiring few tools or not. [Customer replaceable]
    • * identifies the parts that are a little more difficult to replace. [Customer replaceable]
    • N identifies the parts that should not be replaced by the customer. [Only replaceable by the lenovo service]

All components have a FRU part number which I think might have confused you.

Does anyone know of any other graphics cards I can use as a replacement because I can not hand on the original anywhere (it's a stand-alone card by the way, not built-in).

    Hi mate

I doubt that you can replace only the graphics chip
In most cases, the graphics card is part of the motherboard.
Of course some chips are not soldered and could be removed, but these are special chips and match only with these special commissions.

As far as I know you can order all the compatible parts of an ASP in local, but I think it will be not possible to order only a standalone graphics chip but the whole motherboard for P100.
Nevertheless, it is worth to ask guys in your country

  • DV7-7230us mother of HP Envy and replacement of the CPU card

Unfortunately the notebooks has dropped and the screen broke. The machine was at the time. Also the CPU/GPU or motherboard was fried after the fall. As a result, I bought a new screen, the motherboard and the processor. The only thing different from the original installation is the processor. I upgraded to an AMD A8 to the A10. The service manual is the upgrade. My question is, when I start to restore the existing hard drive, 750g Seagate hybrid, with the original system restore dvd discs that will work? I read that these discs only recognize original equipment. Luckily I have the original hard disk with the original operating system factory and the software installed on it. This drive was almost never used so it is still in its original state. Does anyone know if I need to clone a hybrid disc, or it will allow me to reinstall the factory operating system and software? I cloned the hybrid when I first installed and did not bother trying the restore disks. Any power coming back here?  Thank you.

    Al Hebert

    Hi Al,.

I saw your post about your recovery questions. I saw mixed results during the use of recovery with hybrid disks and solid state disks. You are right, you need the original material then I would try the clone you have created everything first and see how it goes.

    Thank you

List of processors is on page 2. You already have the second best compatible processor. The single most rapid will accept the motherboard is a N970. It's not worth the hassle pour.1 ghz.

You have 6 gigs of RAM and could have 8. In addition, an SSD would add significant punch. Here's what your only options to speed it up.
