replacing a drive d under win 7

http://i.imgur.com/vFtuCXc.PNG

It is the disk image management of the hard drives in their current form.

I tried to replace the D drive with another, larger, by car.

Obviously, the new disk 1 - D Volume - drive does not have some vital system information copied to that contains the old disk Disk 0 - Volume E - and the system does not start without the drive E (old drive D) connected.

How can I get the system starts with the old drive D removed?

Why the operating system progresses vital information of starting on a D drive at all?

Can I make the system so that it can start regardless of the State of the D drive?

Win 7 Home premium, Service Pack1, Intel (r) core i 7 CPU, 860-2.8 GHz

Thank you, all.

My problem was answered by another thread.  Thanks to Milo.

I'm having a hard time imagine why he would never have a default configuration for the distributed operating system info on two separate drives.  I'm sure that this has happened when I bought the second disc and had the tecs to the shop install it for me 4 or 5 years ago.

I followed the procedure exactly and am back in business with all the information of starting on the C drive.

    Hello

On my old computer, HP Compaq nc6120, I installed Windows xp (C:\) and windows 2000 (D:\).

Before when I started this computer I could choose if I want to start windows xp or windows 2000. But lately this menu does not appear. Comes to the place a line of messege 'bad START. INI file. From C:\WINDOW\', then windows xp starts automatically. Apparently the BOOT. INI file has in some way has been deleted and I don't know how to start windows 2000.

Can someone help make a good START. INI file? I appriciate even as an advisor about which ev. Literature can help.

    Sincerely

    ARIO

I think remember that Windows 2000 is based.

So, you can try solution 2 on this site as long as you have a Windows 2000 disk to boot from.

The steps are written for XP, but it should also work for Windows 2000, because it is also NT based.

Let me know if it helps.

  • Replace HARD drive under warranty?

This request is on your laptop L655 - 17H.

I think my hard drive might start to fail, so I wonder if Toshiba it will replace, even if it is currently in a State of 'working '. I recently have slow downs and several boots failed, but this issue seems to have stabilized itself for now (the hard drive seems to have reconfigured the bad sectors). From my experience, once sector remapping starts to happen, things tend to come down quite quickly from there. Here are the S.M.A.R.T. data off the drive.

Given that the threshold for sectors reassigned on this player is 36 (until he comes in and mark it as a failed disk) and 13 of them have been used in such a life short (less than 300 hours), I think the HARD drive in this book can be considered to be defective.

Would Toshiba share my view and replace the drive under warranty, or what I should expect some sort of catastrophic failure before going through the motions?

As a side note, Toshiba does not seem to be recognizing the serial number of this laptop, which is strange.

Thanks a lot for any input,

    Gareth

What you read here on this forum are of different opinions, but what you need is the real answer, and you can get it from Toshiba service only guys.
They can check your HARD drive and replace it if necessary.

Make a call, explain the situation and hear what they think of this.

What you need to do every day is the backup of data.

  • Pavilion dv7 4060us: dv7 4060us graphics driver under Win 10

I may be beating a dead here horse I did a bit of research on this issue, but I thought I would try once more on the HP forums.

I have a good Pavilion dv7 4060us I use to transport my QuickBooks files and inventory with me at the customer site, or when I'm away from the office. I bought it in 2010-2011 because of its performance and price point. The fact that it is a mobile entertainment isn't really the problem. By that I mean I played a DVD or two on it, but that is not its primary mission.

Having said all that, I, as a Microsoft Insider (aren't we all?) I tried Win 10 since last October. I have five other computers in my company to update to Win 10 very well. Desktop computers.

But, and I knew better, I leave my dv7 update win 10 home (Win 7 Home) update the graphics drivers under Win 10 HP, even tho ' the review date seems to be August 5 (or 8) 2015, seems to not work. The laptop uses generic LCD drivers from Microsoft. Not the end of the world, but I wonder if anyone has found a way to resolve this display problem. I see that wil HP does not support for this combination hybrid AMD card (5650/4250 HD). I used the Compatibility Mode in the past with some success. In any case, this post was long enough... I can roll it back to Win 7 Home, but I really don't like the appearance of this computer entertainment.

Any thoughts, or should I just shut up and go away?

    Thank you, DD

I appreciate your concern for my situation, thank you. I did all of this, including finding a compatible driver supposedly this material on the website of AMD. When I looked at AMD site this month / last month, they said that they will not only support the material under Win 10 (said the same HP, actually, but I'm stubborn). Imagine my surprise when I found that the site would allow me to download a driver today for the HD 5650/4200 under Win 10 64-bit. But it doesn't install properly, be and gives me the same dialog box: No. AMC graphics driver is currently installed or it is not working properly.

Maybe I'm not fluent in the AMD/ATI products and update I'm with nVidia graphics, I use in my other machines without any problem.

In any case, I thank everybody help, but I spent too much time on this question; I'm done. I can use the 4060 as it is. Former systems engineer, I felt sure I could fix it but apparently not. In any case, no worries and thank you!

    Kind regards

    DD

  • A100 replacement hard drive

I saw the other posts on this but no definitive answer.
My HARD drive is dying and needs to be replaced. I see the posotion from the LHS is under the Palm drive and there seems to be one removable flap - other posts say there is only one screw to remove, but there is no visible screws under the machine.

I've changed hard disks on other Toshibas with absolutetly no problem - someone at - it ideas?

    Hello

Replace HARD drive on this laptop is not simply the procedure. I'm not 100% sure, but the entire Palm rest/Touchpad should be removed first. HARD drive cover is fixed with a screw, but you'll see him only if the Palm is deleted.

When this screw is removed, hold the HARD drive tab and pull the HARD drive bracket. Next step is to detach the HARD drive from the HARD drive support.
The device is quite new and first of all, check if the warranty is still valid.

  • Map Bluetooth PCMCIA (PA3053E) under Win XP

How can I install my Bluetooth PCMCIA (PA3053E) card under Win XP?

You have the latest Bluetooth driver? If this isn't the case, you will need to download it on the Toshiba site for your machine. After you download the driver, make sure that you install the Bluetooth battery before connecting your PCMCIA card. Once the installation process is finished, insert the Windows XP PC card will handle the rest, that is, it will install the PC card automatically.

  • Satellite L70-A-109: is-replace HARD drive empty my warranty?

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite L70-A-109, but I would like to replace the HARD disk with a disk hard solid state
Now replace the drive HARD void my warranty?

I can replace the ram and I see that the ram and HARD drive are under the same door

Also if I can replace it without voiding my warranty where can I find the drivers?

It seems, for my model, that there is no drivers well think I find the drivers for the normal series of L70 - A
    those are the same?

I hope toshiba can help me with this question...

Replacing the HARD drive does not affect the warranty.
Here all the details and instructions how to replace the HARD drive

    > I find the drivers for the normal series of L70 - those who are the same?
Did you find another Satellite L70-A-xxx model on the page of the Toshiba UE driver?
I imagine that you didn t.

You'll find drivers choose L70 - A short numbers and additional satellite as PSKNEE, PSKN2E, etc.
At the bottom of the unit, you will find a label providing different numbers.
There is also a number something like this: + PSKNEE-00D003BT +.
It's _Model_ part number and in this case to get the drivers, you need search satellites L70 - A PSKNEE.

Hope you know how to search the drivers now.

  • While a 20-b013W: replacement hard drive

Machine bought 8/2013. Hard drive failed under warranty 8/2014 (replaced by HP). Hard drive failed once again (short hard drive DST failure).  Cost is too high for me someone pay so I try to replace the hard disk drive me.  What should I replace it with the correct drive that has failed?  I don't know what to buy.  Machine is used by a woman of 87 years who use it for e-mail and facebook only.  The hard drive is an ATA WDC WD5000AAKX-60U6AA0 (LBA48 supported, with chip, sector type 512, capacity 500 GB).  I had downloaded Windows 10 3 months ago.  Thank you in advance.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I read your message on the replacement of the drive and wanted to help.

See you have a Western Digital 500GB disk 3.5 "'blue' SATA.

Any disk 500 GB SATA 3.5 "can be used to replace, it must not be a WD.

I prefer WDC 'Red' discs because they have a life span is longer useful and warranty - but they are more expensive.

I got excellent results with Seagate and Fujitsu drives.

    Good luck

  • Windows 7 Windows update does not work after replacing hard drive

Win7 Home Premium and HP Pavilion DV6-2150US.  Failed hard drive.  I bought a Seagate 500 GB replacement (original drive was 250 GB) and used my purchased HP re - install DVD to re - build Windows and reinstall the OEM software on the new hard drive.

Everything starts fine, but he won't deal of Windows updates (. e. is a big red X on the screen of windows update).  I tried Microsoft "Mr Fix it" download - but it error and none of the other suggestions Microsoft not work either.  When I had the chance to talk with a MS tech support person, she suggested that somehow windows on the new drive is not authentic, etc...  Although windows on the new drive hard indicates that its active and authentic... is there some kind of checking a number of the hard disk 'really' activate windows?

Just to make sure that my reinstall was not corrupt, I deleted the new hard drive and began in everywhere... I have the exact same result... it boots fine, but will not update through windows update.  The only other change to the laptop was that I had better buy double the memory to 8 of 4 when I bought 2 years ago... once again, do not know if there is a kind of material exchange limitation before disabling the windows software.

Help, please!  I'm really stuck.  THX JimmyC

Thanks for your post... I solved my problem by installing the update driver Intel rapid storage through this link:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c02219204

I suppose that as long as the hard drive is lower 250Gig you need not the new driver.  But when I replaced my hard drive failed with a disc 500gig hard - when I did restore HP to Win7 and the OEM software from the dvd, I bought - it put the storage driver original in Win7 - which works very well with a 250 GB drive, but causes the windows update doesn't work is not for readers more than 250gig.   When I installed the driver from the link above file, Windows Update started working - and you can imagine there are many, many fixes since my PC has been restored to original Win7 - doesn't not even Win 7 SP1.

I hope it helps someone else... thank you for your message.  JimmyC

  • 1260 US G7: replacement hard drive HP g7 1260us with Home Premium Windows 7 (64-bit) now lost for a start to the top

Received under member declaration of support in his last paragraph, but only gives not the link still since I wasn't not answer you immediately... does anyone have this link noted below for me to go and burn a DVD.

(I thought when I downloaded my files on a USB flash drive before you recover he would have windows 7 on it, but when I tried the new replacement hard drive I get: no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key.)  When I read the files on the USB stick on another computer, it reads:

FBData 12/12/2014 of the folder - file

In any event, at least, we can connect you to an official Microsoft Windows 7 disc download, which you can use to put Windows 7 on the computer and with some drivers from this site, we can get you going again. You'll need another computer with internet access and a DVD burner or another flash drive.

The key must rely on the label inside the battery bay or your laptop.

I think that what you did was copy the program to restore the laptop computer files. Actually let Recovery Manager do the recovery media by running the Recovery Manager program.

  • Replacement HARD drive questions

So to make a long story short the Thinkvantage Toolbox thing reported a bad hard drive for about a month now.

I get no other indicators of failure of emminet as bad sectors but didn't want to push the thing as its under warranty so I am in touch with the contact centre yesterday and had a replacement delivered today drive, and I live in the Bush so kuddos it.

However, I have this HARD drive with nothing but lables to ship the old man back to "avoid being charged for the new part.

If at this point, I have two main concerns.

I understand the work of monkey of replacing the drive on this computer, but am I to assume that the new disc has a preloaded OS or something or there at - it a procedure that I could follow, perhaps?

I've done some general poking around on the net and you have not found anything so far so I'll try here.

My second consideration relates to return a drive that I lived with for more than six months and shows no other problems except for a flag of Thinkvantage.

I understand that there is a kind of extended warranty "servece" that allows the physical conservation of the old drive and I'm not trying to be a jerk on everything that I understand the recycling of old electronic devices and so forth and so but it seems silly just send my old data like this on a vague threat of a charge if I do not return the part.

I am happy to return the thing, but if I am not satisfied that I was able to erase the disc it will come back with a few nails through it and etc.

Is that going to undergo this 'charge', they mention?

If the old drive was more like a bad drive I would not also be concerned about data cleaning, but I'm not tickled on the idea of sending the thing somewhere with more than half a year of various personal information on this subject in its current state.

How they even think that they would be "charge" is another question altogether, but I find rather reasonable for my worries appealed, if one is available to force the issue unnecessarily.

    Thank you.

Well, got some information by e-mail, Lenovo, this morning.

Fitness beat email out here to the boonies in less than 24 hours Friday.

UPS has been everywhere this one not?

The confusing side kuddos for the speed again and I noticed that the replacement drive is more than 50 concerts more so than the old car so more warm and fuzzies of my dissertation.
