Replacing keyboard on Satellite C850

How is it difficult to replace a keyboard on a C850?

I have to use an external keyboard due to a spill of coffee.
As I'm several hundred kilometres of civilization and need to use my laptop for business, I can't afford to be without it. Any suggestions please. I did it on other laptops, but this one seems different.

Hello

You are right. Replacing keyboard on this machine is quite different. The keyboard access is on the underside. Optical disc drive must be removed first. Then, you need a plastic stick to push the back of the keyboard of the slot. Push the keyboard until the corner rises on the upper surface of the case.

To be honest, it can be a bit tricky and you may damage the smallholders plastic. You can try it, but you do at your own risk. Be gentle and careful with this.

    Hello

I have this Toshiba Satellite C850, which is nothing else than a great laptop.
The only thing that worries me a bit is a piece of the keyboard which bulges slightly upward.

To be more precise, the center of the Ardennes is in the middle of the keyboard and it spreads on the D on the left button to the right of the ENTER key. When I close those keys in it, I mean: DFGHJKLCVBNM,.6789 the entire keyboard sinks a little. I seems that it is not suitable for the rest of the laptop.

Is not a big thing, but it's also a bit boring and I assume this is supposed to be like this.
Anyone of you has a similar issue?

Thank you for your response. Wiktor

I noticed something similar on another computer laptop.
In the Middle, the keyboard feels much softer than on the left side.
I guess that's ok as on the left, you can find the modules of cooling and therefore he keyboard feels more stable than in the central area.

In my opinion this isn't a big problem and for me its ok

  • Replacement keyboard for Satellite Pro P100-465

    Hello

Does anyone know if there is another keyboard that I can get for this model?

The current keyboard keys a pretty spongy and don't respond well except if pressed hard.
Also, buttons which I use a lot, such as the right change key and enter key are below standard and difficult to use.

I want to set up a keyboard layout different if possible. The keypad is not important to me.

    Thank you

Replacement of keyboard should not be a problem. I recommend you contact the partner of service authorized in your country. They should have the numbers for keyboards with a different layout. Using this number, you'll be able to order replacement keyboard.

  • Replacement keyboard on Satellite L350

A clumsy friend spilled a glass of red wine on my L350 weekend which resulted in my keyboard malfunctioned.
No problem, I don't think should be easy to get a replacement and mount it.

However, as I took the original keyboard of the laptop I am concerned that I have damaged the connection and my replacement does not work when it arrives.

Basically, the black part of the connector has broken - does anyone know if this is considered part of the laptop or that it will be shipped with a replacement keyboard?

Any idea where I can get a replacement for the part black, if necessary.

    Any advice would be fantastic.

    Thank you.

    > Basically, the black part of the connector broke - does anyone know if this is considered part of the laptop or that it will be shipped with a replacement keyboard?

I m not very well what part you mean.
Usually, the keyboard is connected to the connector s motherboard with a flat cable.
    Do you mean the cable?

If so, then the cable is part of the keyboard and the new cable should arrive with the new keyboard. But the connector on the motherboard is not removable, and if you damage this part, you will need to replace the mobo ;(

  • Replacing keyboard on Satellite M30

    Hello!

I dropped accidentally coffee on my Satellite M30. my keyboard no longer works correctly. I tried to clean it with compressed air, who saved a few touches, but there are still some keys that do not work. I discovered that I can buy a replacement on www.sparepartswarehouse.com part, but I live in the Netherlands, and transportation costs are very expensive.
My question is: can I buy a spare directly from Toshiba?

    Hello

I'm not sure about this. As far as I know, you can buy only the things that you can find on the Toshiba site. The pieces of equipment can be ordered by service partners. Try to make contact with the partner in your country and ask them what may be the best solution for your problem.

Maybe you can also buy some already used keyboard.
Check http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com under Support & downloads. You can find the links service partners.

  • Replacement keyboard for satellite 1400

Hi, when I start my laptop after a very short time, I have a popup (the menu associated with the left button of the mouse (I think) randomly appearing even when I am not touching the keyboard or the mouse. In word, when I type the z or / keys it always appears! I tried the external mouse and an external keyboard, with no difference. I think it's a keyboard error, comments? I think that the reason why the external keyboard makes no difference is that the internal keyboard is still connected i.e. sound always short-circuit. I am just out of warranty (rats!) Is it easy to replace the keyboard, I'm a little short on cash. Constantly clear the popup having my head.

If I understand you right, your warranty is over. Then you can open your laptop without the risk of losing it.

Open the notebook and disconnect the keyboard. If this does not a difference for the external keyboard, it must be a software problem.

In any case, I recommend to reinstall the latest driver from the download page of Toshiba driver for the keyboard.

Connect the external USB keyboard and test functionality. Check if the use of the external USB keyboard would repeated the same problems.
In case the external USB keyboard would work correctly, the problem is related to the internal keyboard to be replaced.

    Warranty is still valid?
If so, get in touch with service partners in your country. The keyboard should be replaced free of charge.

  • Keyboard mixed up on all new Satellite C850-1F1

The keyboard of my brand-new Satellite C850-1F1 is involved. 64-bit Windows 8 is installed.

Space bar allows a 'p', 4 provides a 'f', 6 provides a "h". But most of the keys work properly.

When using an external keyboard it al works fine. I tried different language settings and countries, nothing seems to work.

    Any ideas?

    > When using external keyboard it al works fine

This means that your internal keyboard is the troublemaker.
The internal keyboard needs to be replaced to fix this.

Get in touch with authorized Toshiba service point to get the keyboard replaced.

  • Satellite C850 - keyboard no longer works

I have an old Satellite C850 of only 8 months and the keyboard stops working frequently enough. I have to click on where I left and start typing again, but a few letters later it crashes again. I have a USB keyboard and a mouse attached and it does the same thing on the USB keyboard on the laptop keyboard. This leads me to think that it is a driver problem.

I did the research forums and reset in the BIOS by default and also tried pressing FN, left SHIFT, CTrl left then right shift including a forum said work, but it doesn't.

Any ideas before it goes in the trash?

Check please if the newer BIOS version is available. If I m remembering well in the past of similar problems have been resolved with the new version of the BIOS.

Laptop warranty valid if you have another option and t is to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. If there is some hardware problem, that they should fix it.

  • Satellite A30: Replace keyboard

    Hello
We have a Satellite A30 but dropped to a file of the box on this subject, and the J and K keys broke off the coast.
A key may be repairable, but the other's definitely got some plastic broken on the rods.

The machine is now out of big but I'm good enough with repairs PC but PC, no cell phones!

I'm guessing that a replacement keyboard will be easier to fix than the keys themselves. I saw them on the net for A £39 + VAT. All that miss me are many instructions on the removal of the keyboard and replace it. Instructions and guides are available for the A30 Saturday?

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

    Hello

The keyboard can be ordered from the Toshiba ASP in your country.

If you want to remove the keyboard, you must first remove the thin plastic above the F1 - F12 buttons. Under this coverage, you will find 2 screws which fix the keyboard. These screws must be removed.
After that the two screws were removed, you could take the keyboard.
But be careful; It s connected to the motherboard with the flat cable which you should remove everything first!

    Good bye

  • Problem with keyboard on the Satellite C850-F0202.

    Hello

I need urgent assistance on the keyboard of my C850-F0202.
Without warning, the keyboard went without object.

The only bit which seem to be affected are the shortcut keys for brightness(f2-f3), toggle (f12) wireless as well as those of the volume(f9-f10). In addition, the 'NUM LOCK' light during the restart.

I made several suggestions and recommendations-system restore, uninstall the keyboard driver and reboot system, etc--all without success.
In one of the occasions where I tried the system restore, I got an error message: critics of the process is dead.
All attempts to "System Restore" ended without success.

I am amazed, bar this problem keyboard, everything seems to work very well; start is smooth, no fuss.
I'm at my wits end, I need more positive assistance.

    Please help, thanks!

NB: Operating system: windows pro 8.1.

    Hello

My personal opinion, you should check if this problem could be related to problem internal keyboard or keyboard controller.
Connect the external USB keyboard and check if it will not work correctly.

In case the connected USB keyboard will work not correctly, the problem is must be linked to the internal keyboard failure. To solve the problem, you must replace the internal keyboard.

  • Re: Satellite C850 - replacement HARD drive dead, install OS

I have a Toshiba Satellite C850 with a completely dead hard drive. I have no Win 7 DVD but I don't have the product key.
Where should I go from here?

    Hello

If you have a valid key, you can download the iso file of Windows 7 from Microsoft.
This image file can be burned to a disc.
Then you can use this disk to install the Windows 7 and activate with valid key.

But be careful: If you mean the serial key which is located at the bottom of the device, you would know that those keys cannot be used for activation of Win 7. Its key OEM belonging to Toshiba preinstalled image. I guess that it will not work.

  • Replacing the battery for Satellite C850

    I have 2 Satellite C850, part no PSKCCA-00N010.

Batteries begin to fail, the battery part number is PA5024U - 1BRS 10.8 V 48 Wh 4200 mAh.

I find that there is a 11.1 V 67 Wh 6000 mAh available. Is it compatible?

It's just different tension that concerns me, I understand higher mAh is a longer life.

For each computer model Toshiba laptop offers compatible pieces. Each pat has part number that can be used to order. If your original battery is faulty or there is another reason for the Exchange, I recommend to the original battery command using the part number you found on the battery label.

I found info that C850 Satellite can be used with the following batteries:
    PA5024U-1BRS
    PA5109U-1BRS
