Report BI publisher with ODBC connection?

Hi all

How to secure data when we create a report editor of BI with ODBC connection? How can we limit the display of data for different users or where we can control the data for different users?

Kind regards
Sam

Also - if you have the UserID stored in the database and you can use in sql something like below

Select * from table

where user_id_x =: xdo_user_name

xdo_user_name retrieves the bi publisher user id.

I downloaded all the updates for my computer and restarted it so the phone several times. I also tried to connect with the phone in "USB debugging" mode. The phone works great with my XP desktop, but I need to work with my laptop. I can't determine what is the problem and have exhausted all my resources and remain unsuccessful. • Connect OBIEE Admintool to hive: problems with ODBC. Any option?

We are facing a blocking problem when you try to connect to an instance of hive Admintool using an ODBC driver.

For a CEP, we are trying to set up a domain of hive to analyze in OBIEE. Everything seems to work OK

until we try to load the metadata. In this case, the schema is found but not table under him. We can add the

Physics of table by hand, and then we can successfully launch the number of lines. We then try to load the lines, but to

the point that we have faced a strange behavior. But summarize the steps we have taken.

    (1) we downloaded ODBC drivers to connect to the hive (we tried with Hortonworks, Cloudera, Microsoft and)

    MapR, but the results are the same);

    (2) we have set up the connection to the hive on port 10000 and successfully run the ODBC test (BTW: to)

    SQLDeveloper we can connect to the same server via the JDBC driver and query the tables here);

    (3) then we start Admintool. Once we have defined the name and the password, we then select the ODBC connection.

    in fact there aren't strictly necessary user name and password, but we offer them anyway;

    (4) the next step is to load the metadata; and here is the first issue, because we can see the patterns but not

    the tables.

    Connection_OBIEE_BigData.PNG

    (5) anyway we are going on and insert a schema (we read there could be problems with more than one schema, then)

We simply select one); in a blog (by Rittman, who really is 'THE' guru OBIEE) it is said that the tables are not

loading directly, so we tried simply adding a physical table in the physical layer as the default schema.

    making sure the table exists;

    (6) once we have added 'physically' table that we proceed with the number of lines; and we get correctly the number of

    ranks once we overview the name of table after that;

    (7) then we try to retrieve the lines and the question; We get the following error message:

    ErroreSQL.PNG

We also dug a bit little and concluded that the request received by hive instead of being

    SELECT * FROM trucks

    it becomes

    SELECT FROM trucks

If the ' *' is passed to the SQL statement sent. If we run the same query on the Beehive, we get

exactly the same exception ParseException error, it really seems that there is a problem in the

    construction of the SQL statement.

Any idea about this problem? (if a fix exists, because after so many attempts, we are convinced

This is a bug that can only be fixed by a new version of Admintool)

BTW: we have tried almost all the possible options for the ODBC driver (such as 'native of use request',

("Use Unicode" and so on) and in regards to the Admintool, we have not seen what option

or preferably (at the physical layer) can influence this anomaly.

Any help is really, really appreciated. Thanks in advance.

OK, I got what you're saying. I mean, to focus on the bigger picture. If you can make a data view or list Table to import metadata is a bit unrelated to the final goal. Annoying, but irrelevant. What you try to do, is get OBIEE to build queries dynamic SQL based on the logical requests which will submit your users via presentation against the presentation layer Services.

Continue to build your SPR (ignorant that display data does not work) at a very simple level, with a single fact/Sun in the business model, single domain - and then run an appropriate query generated in answers through it. The point of all this is to see how OBIEE SQL query then generates, and if it's worth a one hive.

  • BI Publisher with Active Directory - slow connection

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had to set up BI Publisher with Active directory. We are on 11.1.1.1.7 OBIEE - integrated with Active Directory. It takes about 40-50 seconds to connect on:

    http://bnrbidevapp1.es.gwu.edu:9704 / xmlpserver

We have a different BEEP workigng insanance, they are also connected to the same ad and the connection is instant. What I can adjust? Checked memory and RAM on the system, doubled the RAM, so its double the system that has instant access. What else can I check? Thank you!

This followed and it is resolved:

  • With the help of creator of the Recordset object to connect PHP to the ODBC connection

Alright. I have worked with ASP for a long time and with the tools built into Dreamweaver 8 (and earlier versions), it is easy to connect my ASP pages to an ODBC connection to create sets of records and the execution of orders. But I finally accepted the fact that I need to learn to develop in PHP. I've got PHP running on my computer and I am able to put a code ODBC data source connections but I'm curious to know how to get the Recordset creation wizard and the command Wizard to connect to anything but a mySQL table.

And for those of you who will say I spent my data in mySQL, it is simply not an option.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Dreamweaver built in PHP server model is not designed to connect to any other database that MySQL, though I'm afraid that the answer is to convert to MySQL or hand code all of your database interaction, that is you will not be able to use the Dreamweaver recordsets to connect to MySQL (and therefore will not get data bindings or the other). I did not at least at any time recently, so cannot provide specific advice on that, except maybe to look for PHP ADODB.

If you use access as long as your database, then perhaps this research can help with a conversion if ever you don't want to go this way:

I use Windows Server 2008 R2 and have been able to generate the crystal report connection automatically through the (System DSN) ODBC for MS SQL Server 2008 R2.

When I perform the security updates below, the crystal report would not be able to generate automatically.

    KB2641653
    KB2667402
    KB2665364
    KB2621440
When I tried to manually generate the crystal report, it prompted me the user DSN instead of the system DSN which I was their use without problems so far.
Therefore, I created the user and system DSN in the ODBC DSN and so able to invite me for connection (System dsn) but not with the ODBC connection id I created.

  • How DO I create Excel 2007 spreadsheets ODBC connections?

SAP Crystal reports 2011 and as the sources of data using Excel spreadsheets.

In Report Designer, you create the connection to the worksheet.

While this leads to 95% accuracy, there are problems with the tool CR not actually 'SEE' or 'Recognize' values within some excellent cells.

WHY?  I have no idea.  Apparently, SAP doesn't know either.

SO an SAP expert has suggested that I use the ODBC connection to Excel 2007 worksheets, i.e. this connection will not have these issues.

There is a screen in the CR tool where it can be USED? the connection, but I have no knowledge of the procedure to follow.  Apparently, Miss me a step in actually creating

    7. Enter "Remote desktop users" or "Everyone" (without the quotes) in the subject box.

9 Add the same users to the group "advanced user".
    10. If this does not work, after step 8 a reboot may be necessary.

  • Add Server BI as ODBC connection using free tool

    All,

I am trying to add a native ODBC connection from my PC under Windows XP, the BI server.

I want to use this option to write native SQL against the BI repository and as a source of data of BI Publisher increases it.

We were able to accomplish this using TOAD, but our trial license has expired.

I was hoping that other people might have done this before and help with advice.

We hope to be able to do this with any FREE tool, but more specifically Oracle SQL Developer if possible.

    Any ideas appreciated.

    Thank you

    Several things here.

    (1) for Server BI of the query editor, you define a jdbc data source in Publisher. You don't need ODBC in the middle. Configure your data source as this:
    Data Source name:< you="" choose,="" "oracle="" bi="" server"="" makes="" sense="">
    Database driver class: oracle.bi.jdbc.AnaJdbcDriver
Connection string: jdbc:oraclebi://yourbiserver:9703 / (if you have configured your BI server to use different ports can change 9703)
Click on test connection to make sure you did it right.

    (2) If you still want to set up an ODBC connection (but you must if you configure as above, which is standard), then you create your ODBC DSN as normal (lots of docs on this on the web).

    (3) you can't question a source ODBC using SQL Developer as far as I know. You can use nqcmd or the Client ODBC OBIEE to question it or other tools like Excel. You can also consider Tora, who can question ODBC (enter the DSN "Database") and is free.

I don't know what I can do. I tried the component with other ODBC connections (to MS Access) and it worked without problem, so I think it has something to do with the Oracle ODBC connection. Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem?

Looks like you are using an ODBC Oracle driver to connect TIBCO to an Oracle database.
If this is true, you should post your question on the forum of ODBC:
    ODBC

This forum deals with connections from an Oracle database in a foreign data store.

    Is that a known behavior?

Is it possible to force the closure or to make it independent of the other connection?

    Concerning

    Fred

As ODBC connections are not intrinsically included in the environment of the CVI, I watched the DBDisconnect function and it is said that the DBDisconnect function disconnects the last ODBC database connected. This is the expected behavior.

  • Using Reporting SERVICES report server cannot open a connection to the report server database in SQL server 2008 R2 sp1

    Hello

I'm running Reporting SERVICES Version 2007.0100.1600.022 ((SQL_PreRelease). 080709-1414 in Visual Studio 2008 with Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition with Advanced Services (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 SP1.)
Everything seems to work fine except that I can't deploy: "the report server cannot open a connection to the report server database."
Connection test ReportServer as OK in the Configuration service report manager and Visual Studio. Run reports in Visual Studio against ReportServer and my other databases.  Deployment fails on a report of VM. Remote access is enabled in the firewall, pipes is enabled in configuration Manager SQL server, the permissions for all access in Windows.
The error in the log file of report Service:
Library! WindowsService_1! 12ac! 09/23/2012-21: 05:12: e ERROR: ServiceStartThread: Exception caught during the startup of service. Error: Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.ReportServerDatabaseUnavailableException: the report server cannot open a connection to the report server database. A connection to the database is required for all applications and treatment. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: a network-related or instance-specific error all by establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server is not found or inaccessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - error Search Server/Instance specified)
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

Just, I solved the problem I had.

It turns out, there, there were two questions... first concealing the second.

SQL Web browser has not been activated.  solution: in properties SQL server configuration manager, transformed the startup to automatic mode and activated the service.

Microsoft Visual Studio project property targetdatasourcefolder had a server name that precedes the name of the folder. Removed the name of the server.  This works.

    Everything unfolds right now.
