Resize bug in the layer.

I reported a bug today that I feel could do something nasty on the document when you use resize() to resize a layer. Especially if you use suspend history.  It looks like resize for an unknown reason, supports the document to the top of the a history State prior to resize it.  I tested in CS5, CS6, CC and CC 2014 all fail the same way. Nasty Nasty...

I can program around this bug if history States are saved for the script.  However, I like to suspend state record story in scripts so that its easy to save in the history after the script is used if necessary.

However this bug can destroy the document and also delete history says in so that its impossible to recover the document of history for the previous State was replaced by the registration of the use of the script. How many States is removed will depend on how. resize(); the script is. Nasty Nasty.

Here are a few screen of the bug in action. The fist before and after the appearance that the script is designed to work. However, I made an extra select all before using the script. You see her is no longer in history at the same time.

The second, before and after that select it without extra all note initially a guide line has been removed.

In the third before and after I change the order of my steps before the script I first drag the guides then put in the picture.  You see that the image has been removed the wrong layer has been resized and the place removed from history.  Nasty Nasty.

The script works when history is not interrupted, because I programmed the script to work around the bug... http://www.mouseprints.NET/old/DPR/FitImageToGuides.jsx

Cap1.jpgCap2.jpgCap3.jpg

Developed a work-around. The backup of the bogus story only occurs when there is an active selection active when the layer is resized.  So I updated the script for

Deselect the option

() activeLayer.resize

Re-select

So the whole work will still be required for Adobe will not be fixing CS5 CS6 or CC.

I made a wax seals on photoshop with lots of embossing, bevelment and a dynamic filter. It's done and I just need to make it smaller so it fits well on my certificate. When I resize (Ctr + T) it appears a messgae which reads:

  • CS4: Does not mask the layer effects. Bug?

If you have an image of say a person and an effect (a drop shadow maybe) and then apply a layer mask on the size of the feet, the result should be the size up anyone with a fading shadow identical to the person. That's how CS3 it.

NOT SO, in CS4. With CS4, the layer mask not "mask" effect. So, you get dark legs, but the body is hidden.

I'm positive, it's a bug, because I can open the bad image of CS4 CS3 AND it seems correct.

Attached is the same file I created in CS4 (with shadow to come through transparent surface) and then he opened in CS3 (clean, no shade).

Since you are positive it is a bug, I guess that there is no sense, which suggested that referred you to your dialog layer styles, click on the merge options panel and click layer mask hides in advanced mixing options. Bugs must be fixed by engineers, not the users, so I think that this post is a waste of your time.

  • How to get and set the length and the width of the content of the layer?

How to get and set the length and the width of the content of the layer

All layers are packed not equal. a layer as adjustment have no limits. Layer to smart object can have two different sizes. The size of the object and the size of the object may be transformed. All smart object layers have an associated transform. To transform a smart object layers you need to work with the size of the object the generated pixels fot the layer. Text layer can be resized with a transform or by changing the font size. Pixelated layers are resize via a transformation.  The script method is resize.  When you resize the number of pixelsits made by interpolation. You can specify what method to use or set Photoshop interpolation preferably by default.

There is also a bug in Photoshop scripts if you pause the story said make a selection and use resize. Photoshop will properly support up to a State before where you suspended history. This bug seems to be in all versions of Photoshop.

If you look ate the script in my bug report, you should get a good idea of how to resize a layer.

  • view the psd with feather and the layer mask

    Hello

There is one case where I can't display a modified to correct Photoshop image in LR.

If the PSD file has a layer mask with a feather, LR displays a hard edge mask.

There is no problem with a normal gradient or shadow a layer style.

I'm on CC PS and LR CC, latest versions.

    Anyone have the same problem?

    Thank you

  • Serious accidents with control of the expression spacing based on z-position of the layer

I have massive crashes when you use this script expression below. I have just a text layer where I control the depandend letter-spacing of the current z position. From z = 0 to-500 (directly in front of the camera), the values are transformed by easyOut() from 0-10. So far, that's all.

Now when I duplicate this line of text several times and start to change its position, then the accident happens. Text layers more I have the sooner the crash. This occurs when the edition therefore not made involved. In the preview is the applied standard rendering engine.

Unfortunately, there is no specific error message - it indicates just that AFX no longer works and is now closed.

    My system features:

I have 8 GB of RAM and 10 GB disk cache. That should be enough for a text flying around.

I use the latest Version of CC of AFX 2015.1 13.6.1.6 running on Windows Ultrabook (Lenovo Yoga 1) 8.1. No CUDA detected so the preview is rendered by the CPU.

Anyone has an idea why this happens? Help is very appreciated.

    max_spacing = 10;
    z_position = transform.position[2];
    var new_spacing = easeOut(z_position, -500, 0, max_spacing, 0);
    text.animator("Animator 1").property.trackingAmount = new_spacing;

    This is my test scene:

    http://Augenpulver-design.de/Exchange/tmp/AFX_Expression_Crash_Scene.zip

You create a hole of logic by referencing the layer itself probably. Should not happen, then I would call it a bug. Probably to do with flaky matrix code also used to smack and a few other things. Try to use a Null value and parent the text to it. This would work much better.

  • How to get a second image in the layer panel

In item 13, I have two images that I want from. I brought here them both of the Organizer to the editor, but I can't seem to get them both in the layer panel to use one as a background. Someone just tell me how to get an image from the photo bin toward the layer panel?

Several solutions. I advise to begin:

You have your two visible photos the of in "basket" (area of the bottom of the screen). Choose the one that will serve as "background by double clicking on its icon. She apparaiit in the editing space. Now, click the second image basket of the in and drag on the edit box.  You have a preview of this new layer, ready to be resized, moved or such. Use the handles of the frame of this image pour what control do. When you post by clicking the green check mark, your new layer should appear in the layers of the screen Panel.

You can adjust the dimensions etc. without loss of quality; This layer is UN 'smart object' as long as you don't choose "simplifier" (freeze) the layer which becomes a regular layer.

Some operations on the layers cannot be carried out only after having simplified.

  • Challenge for the layer PSD AE

    Hello.

I'm usually into art (a drawing of a dancer for example) PS creating several coppies layer and adding a layer on each mask to define the part of the body (leg, for example). Then I import the PSD in AE as a composition by taking care to "preserve layer sizes. Then I put the anchor points, relatives and animate. Sometimes, I'll be back in the PS and cleaning works of art, but the rest the same size - my rig AE layer mask depends on. I use this technique for more than a decade, so have learned the pain of one extra pixel shake a box size limit and spoil my puppet-rigging.

When one of the latest AE CC x 12 came around, I started having an intermittent bug: I could rig PS layers like a puppet in AE and invoke the bug by adding an extra layer to my PSD... Just add a solid black layer under all my layers cut was enough to lift the anchor in AE... (Remove the solid layer and re-record non sleeved instead of the layers).

To cut to AE CC 2014, and I realize that the bug was not only due to add and subtract layers. I tested AE 2014 with an existing 12 x AE project and saw that some of my manipulated puppets had screwed up variously anchor points. (Same project/puppet works in the old AE, but is sacked in 2014 EI). I thought: oh crud, 2014 broke something. But after a careful review of the sizes of layer (see screenshot), I realized that 2014 AE bed correctly the size of the layer.

Great, this is a bug in previous versions, which has been corrected... Or was it? I have not read anything in the notes to this topic, and this small detail is essential to my process. Anyone know if it is an intentional fix to 2014 of EI, or if the intermittent problem of import with the previous version still exists, and I have yet met with AE 2014?

My intuition is that AE and/or PS changed how a mask layer or transparency in Photoshop translates the size of a bounding box in After Effects. Someone at - he glimpses of developments with layer masks, delimiting the areas or transparencies that could have caused what I feel?

    Thanks in advance,

    Benjamin

    Screen Shot 2014-07-11 at 3.34.12 PM.png

Joaquim, got the .aep. I can reproduce the problem.

Good news: there is an easy solution. Right-click on the "Layer 0 copy" layer and choose replace images. Choose the original PSD and the same layer as the replacement.

This .aep file has been created in After Effects CS5 (10.0.1), something I should have realized if I paid attention when you said "appeared in 2011". (CS6 is released in 2012). I created a new project in After Effects CS5 (10.0.2) with your PSD but do not reproduce the problem, when I opened this project in after effects CC 2014.2.

So for now, assuming that my workaround above is the case for you, I'm going to it until a possible file bad piece of chalk and close the case. Maybe it has something to do with the difference between 10.0.1 and 10.0.2, but which has been so long that I don't remember what bugs have been fixed. Let me know if you continue to have problems.

  • Export to disk hard resizing bug?

I just want to confirm that this is really a bug and no confusion on my part...

    Lightroom 5.3 on the Macintosh.

    I have a PSD 11872 x 2968 pixels (it is a panorama that I sewed in Photoshop).

If I export it to the hard drive and say "resize to Fit: Long Edge: 3000 pixels: resolution 72: pixels per inch" and check "do not expand" then the exported file is not scaled but is registered as 11872 x 2968 pixel.

However, if I have resized to fit long edge = 2900 pixels it is resized to 2900 x 750 pixels.

Even more surprising, if I resized depending on the edges short = x 480 pixels, it is saved as 11872 x 2968 pixel

I am completely confused on what resize means, or is this a bug in Lightroom (which I will report once confirmed)?

    Jim Wilde wrote:

Did anyone else noticed strange with the undo history behavior when the effect controls panel is opened?

    Try this:

    1. have the layers panel, the history and the visible effects at the same time.

    2. open an image

    3. duplicate the layer

4 make a new empty layer

    5. take the Brush tool and paint two strokes on the new Virgin layer

6 return the layer duplicated under the layer of white and two strokes of paint

    7. in the history panel, back in the States in history and look at the layers panel

  • Using the layer style, mix if it doesn't work

I use the layer style, if mix GREEN mode and he abandoned all colors.  Why is this happening?  The photo is a RGB 8 bit jpg.  When I select any color or grayscale it takes all colors.  I'm doing something wrong?

I followed the instructions by training from Lynda.com on Photoshop CS4.  The instructor took a sky background.  The only difference is that I am trying to remove the green of the trees in the background so that I can bring other photos to the background image.

    Thanks in advance.

    Oops

Not a bug. The color range tool, remembers the last setting even after outgoing PS and he raises. Because this setting can be from a completely different image, unconnected with, the memory can be disconcerting to a user unfamiliar with this tool.

Just ignore the displayed initial selection and start highlighting the left of the three eyedroppers and click in the image on a color you want to select. Twist the blur to expand or reduce the range of color affected. Switch to pipettes middle or right and click a different tone of color linked to add or subtract from the original selection.

Optionally, you can choose to stay with the eyedropper on the left and press SHIFT or Alt keys while clicking on the image to add or subtract.

For what you are trying to do it on the specific image you presented, you won't find the satisfactory color range tool.
