Resize the system drive

It professionals,

I know only one way to resize the C Drive(system drive) which is the v2v conversion.

Because when we do v2v. He asks to resize the disks.

If anyone has idea how can we do it without a long and tedious to v2v process.

Please share.

Kind regards

Aerts

Hi Abhare. The I do this is to:

(1) stop original vm with the drive of the system you wish to develop

(2) Open original vm proprieties and extend the original system drive and note what LUN it is stored on the

(3) Open original vm proprieties and remove the vm system drive (not delete it, just delete)

(4) open the conveniences of a second vm, add vm existing on the system disk (i.e. navigate LUN to find the original disc of vms system)

(5) to rescan the disks in second vm

(6) open a 2nd under vm command prompt and use the diskpart list volume / diskpart select volume # (where # is number of the old vms system disk) extend

(7) judgment 2nd disc of vm and remove

(8) power up original vm and hey presto, a range of disc!

I hope this makes some kind of sense!

Kind regards

Owen

Is it possible to resize the system checkbox and radio buttons system. If we right click on one of them and go to properties, size controls are disabled. I wonder if it's feasible.

As mentioned, system controls cannot be customized, because they depend on the windows theme. However, here are some Boolean values, so all you need to do is use an ordinary Boolean value and import the graphics that you want in the case of true and false. They can easily be made to look like an oversized check box. More details, especially about radio buttons can be found here.

You could probably do it in edit mode programmatically by using scripts. You can't do it at run time.

To fill a RadioButton with new Boolean values, you can simply drag the new values Boolean inside or even shift-do drag an item to create a copy of it. Don't forget to change the labels to something intuitive.

  • Windows 8.1 refuses to encrypt the system drive

Reference Dell place 8 Pro Tablet running Windows 8.1 (not Pro). After much frustration with this unit, I decided to dry completely and do a fresh install of Windows. And indeed, all of my previous problems just disappeared. - But there is now a new: BitLocker refuses to (self-) encrypt the system drive, as it is supposed to do. Windows claims that the device encryption is temporarily suspended but will resume after the next startup. However, no matter how many times I reboot the device, encryption/protection remains in the suspended state. The venue Pro 8 has a secure TPM, or more precisely a fTPM (TPM firmware). I am somewhat familiar with the TPMs management and then I went through procedures to prepare the TPM (which was what the suggested corresponding event logs), but it did not help. As the version of the OS is ordinary Windows (and not Windows Pro), the BitLocker feature is very limited, but sufficient to reveal 'Key protectors' are missing. If I have Windows 8.1 handling of automatic encryption, white protective key test should have been filled as soon as Windows has managed to record a recovery on my outlook account key. That, however, seems will never happen. Maybe because Windows has seen the device before that soft install. But even remove the device from my account, and then add that this return has not changed things.

  • Identify the system drive on the computer laptop double disc

I have a laptop HP Pavilion HDX9000T CTO that has two hard drives installed.  The current disks are 120 GB and I intend to replace the drive system with a 500 GB drive at 7200 RPM.

Is there an easy way to physically identify which of the two drives is the system (C) drive?  (In other words, when the laptop is turned over and the cover of the hard drive is removed which is which?)

In addition, this laptop works with a 500 GB drive at 7200 RPM?

    Thank you

    Here's the training manual:

    Manual drive

Look at page 9. The player to the right is the system drive and the left one is the storage.

A disk 500 GB 2.5 inch width 9.5 mm thick SATA 7200 RPM works perfectly. You might want to consider one of the new hybrid disks. The critics are raving about their speed.

  • The missing files (NOT deleted) of the file/directory of the system drive NTFS

    Greetings!

I have a WinXP SP3 system with a SATA 2 TB to the additional internal address as a data reader. This player has only the data (.mp3, video) files in a directory and has never been used for anything other than data files. There is only one directory for the files, and although it is four levels of subdirectories to the bottom, the tree is only these four subdirectories.

A week ago, I noticed that the free disk space on this drive jumped from 350 GB up to 1.2 TB, leaving about 600 GB of data on the disc (about 2 500 files). After checking what is obvious (Rebreather, etc.), I noticed that the missing files were all from one file *. * to n *. * and [0-9] *. *. All files beginning with o *. * to z *. * are still there. So, essentially, Miss me about 9 000 files.

I checked to see if the missing files could be cancelled or retrieved and downloaded several utilities 'undelete' recovery or data. All public services showed that there was no data to recover, that is, the files just disappeared or evaporated.

Where did they go? I'm totally distraught about it.

The files are not hidden, because the reduction of space disk; hidden files still take up the space.

I didn't something in training in the hope of recovering the data. I thought that perhaps an index obtained corrupted or deleted because files deleted did not appear in the correct order of the directory index. I ran a chkdsk on the volume, he came to own, and the files were still missing. If the files have been deleted in alphabetical order, they would still be "deleted", recoverable files?

I also tried to see if I could do a restoration of the system to the point in time before the files have disappeared, but my System Restore says there is nothing to not restore, no action to take.

    Any ideas appreciated.

    ....k

R - Studio found the files missing, but only about 75% of them were really recoverable. Those who were not recovered was a length of zero byte. The advantage is that the names of the files were still intact, so at least I know which ones to re - create. The downside is that it's a few thousand files that need to be redone. That will take time, but a lot less time that I would have had to spend to recreate all missing files.

R Studio also found entries previously deleted files, and I got these, too. However, the recovered files are damaged and unusable. Given that I didn't really need those, it wasn't a problem. I mention this simply as something that R-Studio accomplished (and the other tools do not have).

The recovery is complete in terms of finding the missing files and restoring their readers to spare.  It took a lot of time, about three days I was doing piecemeal in bursts of 500 GB move the files recovered on spare disks. I'll move the files that I had not lost before out of the disc problem, as well, and then replace it. readers are cheap these days.   :-)

Thanks for the help! Also, thanks for the recommendation R-Studio; This is a very useful tool and well worth the expense!

  • Change the drive letter of the system drive on Windows XP SP2

    Hello.

There is a certain task I want to accomplish, but I can't figure out how. Here's the situation:

I have 2 hard drives, each separated into 2 partitions. 1 disk partitions have the letters C: and G: assigned on them.

The drive 2 partitions receive letters D: and J: . I have two installations of Windows XP, one on disk 1 (C: partition) and the other on disk 2 (D: partition).

What I want to do is change the letter of the D: partition ( E: letter, even if it doesn't really) . As you probably know, Windows does not allow me to do that because D: is a system partition / boot. So, I was wondering if there is another way to achieve this, without risking damage to the system.

I would be grateful for any help.

You can correct me if I'm wrong, but I suspect it came because you installed to C on disk 1, and then, without disconnecting the drive 1, installed to D on disc 2.

If you had unplugged disc 1 before installing the second XP on disc 2, the Windows partition on drive 2 would also named drive C. A clean re-installation of Windows on the drive with the drive disconnected 1 2 is the only way to remedy this I know.

When you reconnect the disk 1, it will assign other letters for the partitions on disk 2 and vice versa. Having established the two XPs, I would recommend that you delete the drive letters for the other XP system using disk management.

How do you dual-boot at the moment? By changing the BIOS hard drive boot order? Or by the manipulation of boot.ini file? EasyBCD should help with the latter, you can download the commercial version free from here...

  • Hot to lock the Bitlocker encrypted without restarting the system drive?

I encrypted a few readers in my build system Windows 7 RC 7100, I unchecked the option to "automatically unlock the drive when the system boots", but I have a problem here, I use this drive after unlocking, but there is no option to lock again becase she even unlocks for all users in the system , then if I log into my account, it will be available as he has already unlocked to any other user on this system (until I don't reload the re-allocated).

    If anyone have idea please?

  • How do you Format C drive when it is the system drive.

I want to do a clean install of Windows 7.  The problem was obvious corruption in the boot sector.  It should be sometimes up to 1/2 hour of starting the system with a power indicator light flashes.  I did a reinstall of Windows 7, but the problem remains.  At first I thought it was a power supply problem.   But that was reduced to nothingness.   This computer is used for work only.  There are no other schedules.

When reinstalling Windows it deleted the old files and put them in a folder named Windows.old.  So, apparently, is not wiping the drive clean.  I want to be able to wipe the drive and reinstall to a bare drive.  BTW, I also had the error message 0 x 80070005.

I want to just start clean.  Resettlement of not not more than two or more previous versions of Windows 7.

    Thank you

Once you accept the terms of the license at the beginning of the installation you will be presented with the screen "Type of installation", select "custom (Advanced) type and you then will be able to select the disk setup and presentation or remove existing partitions and create a new one for the new facility.  This short Youtube video explains well: How to Format and reinstall Windows

  • Property of the system drive

I've screwed up and attempted to change the ownership of my system drive. parts changed, others have not, how do I go back to the default values. There is no restore points or the recovery disc, this is a new installation (Windows 7 32 bit)

You can not return property change (unless you have a full backup of your hard drive and restore you this backup full and too wrote everything you have now).

It is unlikely that cause damage, but if you are worried about it or he does, then re - install is your next option.

  • Change the drive letter of the system drive after clone

Hi, I just cloned my old C: and D: again 1 TB at the old 320 GB HARD drive. I need to replace the letter C: System K: (for example) and then change this cloned back to C:. Even with the D: but it is a swap file, so I can´t change the letters C: and D:. Can anyone help?

    Sorry for my bad English.

You start with the old drive still attached after the cloning, i.e. the two drives connected?  The good practice to disconnect the old drive before starting in the cloned system.  If you still have both drives connected, unplug the old one and try to start the new. What letter do you get?

  • Defragment the system drive

Defragmentation function seems not to work on the displayed system drive. The percentage of fragmentation continues to increase. Is there some way, perhaps even with a third-party application to get this number back to 0?

If there is no problem with the "System" partition it is size (100 MB) that is too small and opportunities can cause problems (Windows Backup and restore for example). Windows 8 solved this problem by increasing the size of 100 MB to 350 MB. I have encountered problems with fragmentation.

  • Install Windows 8 does not recognize the system drive

I built a new machine (chart below). Since this is a new machine and not an upgrade, I bought Win 8 Pro 64 bit OEM to do a clean install. The SSD is my system disk that Windows 8 will be installed. Four data drives are mirrored, two for the other two. Construction went perfectly. The BIOS recognizes all six disks: 1 SSD, 4 HDD, 1 DVD.

Insert and boot the disk of Windows 8. Accept the EULA, enter the product key. Arriving at the page "Where do you want to install Windows?", only four hard disks are listed. The SSD (installation to go) is not found by Win 8. ??? I tried to change ports SATA, cables, power supply - no difference. For each new change of hardware, the BIOS still sees everything. This isn't a hardware problem.

The question remains: why the installation of Windows 8 does not recognize the SSD drive. All five disks are on AHCI. I'm not in RAID.

I spoke with crucial technical support of all (manufacturer of the SSD). They were also surprised that the drive does not appear in the list.

Does anyone have a solution? I spent all the money on hardware, as well as the new version of Windows and I cannot install it.

This is the real kick in the teeth: Microsoft won't support me. The OEM of Windows 8 version is the same as manufacturers, such as Dell or HP. Support told me I had the support of the manufacturer. HA! I am the manufacturer. Either that or upgrade from an earlier version of Windows. This means that any that a new construction machine will get ZERO assumption of Microsoft. All just great.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

The DSS must be LOW LEVEL FORMATE.

Once, there may be no other [HDDs] not connected to the SATA ports.

    Install Windows 8 Pro now.
