  • Trouble installing Eclipse w / BlackBerry plugin

Hello.  I am an experienced developer, but a newbie to Eclipse and Blackberry development.  I am following the video tutorial titled "BlackBerry® JDE plug-in for Eclipse Installation and Configuration" (http://www.blackberry.com/DevMediaLibrary/view.do?name=eclipseJDE.)  I installed the all-in-one package (BlackBerry_JDE_PluginFull_1.0.0.67.exe), but when I open the workspace, there is no BlackBerry menu.  Can someone help me solve my installation?

If it makes any difference, I'm under Windows Vista SP1 (32 bit).

    Thank you
    Andrew

I tried to install on another drive - installation just clinging to 45%.

But, (drum roll), I could get this to work.  (They sure don't make it easy.)

Here's what I did, for future readers:

Remove any eclipse existing installs, as well as workspaces and the .eclipse file in your folder.  Download and uncompress Eclipse 3.4 (Ganymede - version of last year.  "It will not work with the latest version.)  I use 3.4 SP2, and that seems to work.  Place the unzipped directory wherever you like.  (Mine is in c:\Program Files).

Then, copy the Zip of Blackberry JDE plugin file in a folder of Eclipse extensions.  Whenever you decide to upgrade this, Eclipse will remember.  I created a "Extensions" folder in my Eclipse directory and he fell into it here.

Open a command prompt, navigate to the Eclipse and run Eclipse.exe - clean flag.  ("eclipse - clean')

Click on the 'Help' menu and select 'updates to software... "Click on the tab"Available software", then on the button 'add a Site... '. ».  In the dialog box that appears, click on the "Archives" button... "and navigate to your extensions folder and select the .zip of Blackberry plug-in file and click 'open '.

Click "install...". "and let it install.  When it's done, it prompts you to restart Eclipse - to do.

For me, at this stage, he worked, and my BlackBerry menu was visible.  Your mileage may vary, but I hope it works for you also.

    Thank you

  • Application created using the BB for Eclipse plugin does not run in the Simulator

    Hi all!

I created an application using BB plugin for Eclipse.  I try to run in the Simulator, but it never gets displayed (the application icon is never shown).  However, I create a "Hello World" sample, which works perfectly in the Simulator.  My application in Eclipse has never shows all files .cod or .jad, there only have files .jdp and .rapc

My doesn´t app have encoding problems or errors of any kind (at least not displayed in the view of error).

TIP: I have copy - paste code in different applications, is that a problem?

    I tried:

    • Restart Eclipse,
    • Configuration of active building of blackberry,
    • Cleaning of the project,
    • Creation of the project,
    • Reinstall Eclipse,

but none of this seems to work.

    Can someone help me please?

    Best regards

    Juan.

    Hi all!

In the event that a person gets the same problem, I mentioned.  I found the solution: it turns out that I had a very high class with a lot of code on it and that s the reason why the application does not get launched into the Simulator.  What I did that I shared this class on the 4different classes each managing different parts of the code and now it works perfectly.

Hope someone is enjoying this, cause I spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the problem was.

    Best regards

  • Component package 4.7.0 JDE not no projection in Eclipse

Following the recipe here: http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Java-Development/Eclipse-3-4-Plugin-Installation-Problems/td-... I got got the BLackBerry JDE component 4.6.0 Pback to appear in my list of installed components.  I have now installed to 4.7.  I rebooted, but it does not appear.  I also tried to uninstall and re-install.  No luck.  I use Eclipse 3.4.1. 4.7 appears in my list of installed software.   Any ideas on how to get 4.7 to display in the list of installed components?

Is eclipse the preferred for BlackBerry devices development environment?

    Thank you

    Scott

Hypothesis: you're on Windows.  I've tried it on other platforms.

With the help of eclipse 3.4.2 and component pack 4.7.0.46, I don't have a problem.  I have six sets of component responsible, ranging the 4.2.1 to 4.7.0.

So earlier, I tried Eclipse 3.4.1 installation.  It went well.

I'm puzzled.  So I'll give you all the details and maybe you can see a difference in what you were doing.

    This is my method:

-A started with a Virgin eclipse 3.4.1.  I confess I don't remember if I got it from the site of the eclipse or the BlackBerry site.

-Help-> them-> software updates-> available software add the Site-> Archive...

-Sailed to where I keep my copy of eJDE1.0.0.67_With_CP4.5.0.16.zip, I got on the BB site. Click on 'OK '.

(The thing 'Archive... "is important - it's the only way I ever got it works.

"But I guess if you got that until now you already know).

    -Click on "Manage Sites... »

-Unchecked everything that said 'www.blackberry.com' and 'OK '. We will keep this local, people.

-Checked off the appropriate and clicked on "install...". »

-Installed the 4.5 of the comp and JDE plug-in pack. He asked to restart eclipse. I said yes. It restarted.

-Help-> them software updates-> available software-> Manage Sites

-Selected the jar file I just installed the plugin on and clicked on 'Remove', then 'OK '.

-Click on "add the Site-> Archive...". »

-Sailed to where I keep eJDE - 4_7_0_46_Component.zip, I got on the BB site. Click on 'OK '.

-Checked off the appropriate and clicked on "install...". »

-Installed pack 4.7 of the model. He asked to restart eclipse. I said yes. It restarted.

-To check, I imported a .jdw existing (a demo of BB) so I could see "configure the BlackBerry workspace." Seemed fine.

So, I don't know what else to say.  If you do this and it doesn't work, then you have the files corrupted, or there is something different about your installation of eclipse based.  I can't think of anything.

    Good luck.

The only solution I found to work so far is:

-Start by Eclipse 3.4 installation from scratch, i.e. no previous component installed

    1. download the stand-alone Installer JDE plugin and install it from outiside of the eclipse.

(as of 08/08/2009 this stand-alone Installer JDE contains 4.5 component pack)

    2. download the 4.6 and 4.7 component packs

    3. from Eclipse update installation first component 4.6 software pack and restart Eclipse

    4. from software Eclipse update install component pack 4.7 and restart Eclipse

5 configure your Blackberry workspace to use 4.7 component packl

  • Setting up a project in Eclipse

Hello. I'm trying to set up a project in Eclipse. This is the structure that I'm looking for:

    MyApp (a project of BlackBerry)

    MyCompany_Core (a regular Java library

    | - src

    | - com.mycompany.core

    | - test

    | - com.mycompany.core

Basically I want a BlackBerry project and a Java project that includes my basic logic and a unit tests. Anyone know the best way to implement? Are there any article or sample plans describe this?

I tried it myself and while I can get a partial success, I'm a very unstable project. For example, when I close and restart Eclipse, all my files in src/com.mycompany.core are replaced by links to the files and all files in test/com.mycompany.core get links in the folder src as well. It is the first in a long string of strange behavior that seems to have forged my project structure. Any input would be great.

    Kind regards

    Eric

If the code is the same for your etc. POJO will compile without modification against libraries of the RIM and Android ones, and create the project also for Android and bind the src folder in the src of the BlackBerry project folder.

I guess I should have mentioned that eclipse started without problem before the blackberrry plugin has been installed.

Google and found a recommendation to drop the eclipse.ini and restart eclipse.  Eclipse started without problem.

  • RoboHelp 8 Eclipse Help Index/search problem

If you use RoboHelp 8 to generate Eclipse via the script EclipseHelp.jsx that I encounter the following problem: WebHelp generates its own search and index that does not once placed inside the EclipsePlugin.

Does anyone else use RoboHelp to generate Eclipse help? How do you overcome this problem?

    Hi Rick,

Please find attached EclipseHelpWithIndex.jsx file which should also generate index.xml and show index in the index of the eclipse. Please restart Eclipse using 'eclipse.exe - clean' command prompt.

I have an interesting question that I have not been able to solve and I reach out for more help.

Earlier today my app stopped writing System.out.println messages in the console.

It is not a fact that I'm not running it in debug mode, because all debugging information is still there. I see that things get focus, etc.

But none of my system.out.println messages are written.

Even with System.out.println ("main entry method"); on the first line of the main method does not appear.

Is this a problem with the Simulator?

Restart the Simulator, restart eclipse and restarted my computer, I tried the Simulator, cleaning.

    I use 8900 Blackberry Simulator.
