Trouble installing Eclipse w / BlackBerry plugin

Hello.  I am an experienced developer, but a newbie to Eclipse and Blackberry development.  I am following the video tutorial titled "BlackBerry® JDE plug-in for Eclipse Installation and Configuration" (http://www.blackberry.com/DevMediaLibrary/view.do?name=eclipseJDE.)  I installed the all-in-one package (BlackBerry_JDE_PluginFull_1.0.0.67.exe), but when I open the workspace, there is no BlackBerry menu.  Can someone help me solve my installation?

If it makes any difference, I'm under Windows Vista SP1 (32 bit).

Thank you
Andrew

I tried to install on another drive - installation just clinging to 45%.

But, (drum roll), I could get this to work.  (They sure don't make it easy.)

Here's what I did, for future readers:

Remove any eclipse existing installs, as well as workspaces and the .eclipse file in your folder.  Download and uncompress Eclipse 3.4 (Ganymede - version of last year.  "It will not work with the latest version.)  I use 3.4 SP2, and that seems to work.  Place the unzipped directory wherever you like.  (Mine is in c:\Program Files).

Then, copy the Zip of Blackberry JDE plugin file in a folder of Eclipse extensions.  Whenever you decide to upgrade this, Eclipse will remember.  I created a "Extensions" folder in my Eclipse directory and he fell into it here.

Open a command prompt, navigate to the Eclipse and run Eclipse.exe - clean flag.  ("eclipse - clean')

Click on the 'Help' menu and select 'updates to software... "Click on the tab"Available software", then on the button 'add a Site... '. ».  In the dialog box that appears, click on the "Archives" button... "and navigate to your extensions folder and select the .zip of Blackberry plug-in file and click 'open '.

Click "install...". "and let it install.  When it's done, it prompts you to restart Eclipse - to do.

For me, at this stage, he worked, and my BlackBerry menu was visible.  Your mileage may vary, but I hope it works for you also.

Thank you

Andrew

What (I think) they critical missing ingredients were to follow my footsteps

    1. do not install the 64-bit JDK, use only a JDK 32-bit on Windows 7 / X 64

    2. start Eclipse in emulation mode Windows XP SP3 (properties--> compatibility in the Explorer on Eclipse.exe)

    3. changing permissions to full control on the C drive (maybe? I can't say for sure, but I did as stated on the walkthru).  The more adventurous should create a mini-partition for use by Eclipse and do it now to avoid compromising security in the long term.

  • BlackBerry plugin 1.1 for the eclipse problem

I used my Eclipse SDK - 3.5.2 - win32 + BB plugin 1.1 Setup for more than a month without probs either.

After a minor JRE 1.6 Online updated today, the workspace of Blackberry has simply disappeared without a trace.

No entry on the menu bar and no BlackBerry option in preferences. Nada.

Install Eclipse SDK details show that the plugin is actually installed.

So, nothing has been changed in the settings or if it appears.

I have Eclipse Ganymede 3.4 with the 4.7 version of the plugin installed that I used before and it works great.

  • Cannot install Eclipse plugin update site

    Hello

Unfortunately, I had to reinstall my Blackberry JDE Plugin for Eclipse.  I ran into an issue, however.  With the Eclipse Update Site (http://www.blackberry.com/go/eclipseUpdate/3.6/java), I was able to download all the necessary component modules.  There is no option to install the plug-in, however.  So all of the component modules are installed, but I can't create any new project of BlackBerry or something like that because the actual plugin is missing.

Here is my installation options in eclipse:

    BlackBerry Java Plug-in Category
       BlackBerry Java SDK 5.0...
       BlackBerry Java SDK 4.7...
       BlackBerry Java SDK 4.6...
       BlackBerry Java SDK 4.6...
       BlackBerry Java SDK 4.5...

    How can I do this?

    Thank you!

Unfortunately, they provide not the plug-in on the site to update at this time. Try to download the full installer from the following page:

  • Newbie question: installed Eclipse 3.4.0 and BlackBerry 4.5 and 4.6.1 4.7.0, only works in 4.5

    Here's what I did.

I installed Eclipse 3.4.0 from the site Internet of Eclipse.

I then installed the Blackberry Plugin for the Eclipse IDE.

I then installed Companion Pack 4.7.0 4.5 and 4.6.1 in the Plugin Manager in Eclipse.

I created a HelloWorld application by taking the HelloWorld application from the website development and cut-and-paste the code.  I went from my environment to 4.5.0 Package component and tapped "run", according to the video examples.

Bingo!  It was working fine.  I had my HelloWorld app race, was able to get the menu, select an item and it showed me my dialog box.

Now, whenever I go to the 4.6.1, or 4.7.0, component Package the behavior is exactly the same:

    Clean environment.

    Rebuild the application.

Press "Run" to launch the application.

    The result?

The Simulator starts, but the application never does.  I get a nice home screen bit and listed in the application directory.  I go to Applications (as directed by the video) and it never shows me a HelloWorld application.

    Same exact behavior in 4.7.0.

Is there a magic button that I need to hit to make it work?  I looked on the BlackBerry site - for 5 hours - and looked for answers to this question, and I have found no resolution to it.

Maybe it's just something stupid, but I find it really weird that I can run on 4.5.0, but 4.6.1 and 4.7.0 are completely dead in the water.

    Help!

Hmmmm, looks like it appears in downloads and not in Applications.  I tried it and all is well.

This should probably be corrected in the online documentation to avoid confusion.  It confuses the heck out of me!

Please give any link sample code or reference on how to create a web icon using BlackBerry plugin for Microsoft Visual Studio.

    Please its urgent.

    Thanks in advance.

There are two ways that you can do with a BlackBerry.

    (1) you can push an icon on the desktop of users using push of BES or the new WebSignals.  This method requires no code peripheral side, but it requires the code side Server integrated with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) or our WebSignals public service

    (2) you can create a small Java application that is installed on the device that launches the browser to a specific URL.  You will need to Java plug-in for Eclipse to get there.

  • BlackBerry Plugin for Visual Studio V2.0

Hi all, I installed Blackberry Plugin for Visual Studio version 2.0. I know that it installed properly because I see the configuration options in Tools--> Options--> Blacberry. Where I can see 9500 v5.0.0.307 Simulator. But when I run a web application and go to "browse with" there is no Blackberry option. There is no Blackberry Simulator also in tools--> the Device Emulator Manager. What might have gone wrong? Is it possible to manually activate the option "browse with" and the emulator itself? My setup is Windows XP Professional SP3 Visual Studio 2008 Team System SP1

Any help will be much appreciated

    Hello

The BlackBerry Simulator does not appear in tools--> the Device Emulator Manager.  This section is reserved for Windows Mobile devices.

All simulators for the development of BlackBerry are in tools of--> Options--> section of BlackBerry.

I went online and read many recommendations for the smc fan control. However, when I downloaded it, the MacUpdate Installer was having trouble installing it. It shows that it is 100% installed in vehicles, but I can't leave the MacUpdate window as she just will not complete the installation even if it shows a 100%. I tried to restart my macbook, but the installation window would not let me restart my mac either. I can't even leave the installer as it continues to display the installation process is not yet complete.
