Restore 2008 iMac without disks

I try to help a friend here... He gives his old iMac 2008 to his sister, but he wants to make sure he was completely cleaned and restored to factory settings.

However, he lost the discs. Is there a way that we can still do it without the discs?

Call Apple and order a replacement set of installation for this Mac DVD.

Can HI anyone help? I tried to restore an iMac 2009 end to the factory setting but I don't have the original disc, apple support said I could try the disk of snow leopard on their Web site, but this may not work and he didn't now I'm stuck in the boot OSX disc and cannot remove the disc or do hard recovery by pressing the command and r at the beginning.  I managed to erase the drive hard all the time, were not able to reinstall OS x.

Is it gone forever? Any answer would be great.

Recovery of the Internet only is not supported on iMacs 2009. Snow Leopard retail disk should work as I believe version 10.6.3 and end of 2009 iMacs come with 10.6.2. What happens when you try to install from the disc of detail? Your last resort may be to call Apple, give them your serial number and order a set of replacement original discs.

If you could play before commercial video DVD...
do a system restore to a time before this started
    may be your solution.

Or you could buy a DVD decoder at the following link:

  • Restore backup possible without upgrade?

So, there's the simple question to which I was not able to find an unequivocal answer:

Can I restore my iPhone without having to upgrade to the latest IOS?

It seems that when restoring the iphone tent/applications updated. I don't know if you can cancel that.

I have an iphone 4s, it runs ios 7.1.2 it is not jailbroken or locked provider. I made a manual backup to ICloud and Itunes and so can restore from one or the other.

(My main goal is to get rid of about 6 GB on the 'other' files. For this I will erase all the data and then restore the backup)

    Thank you

Clear the phone settings and then restore a backup to iCloud will not result an iOS update to occur. It will retain the iOS which is currently on the phone. That I'm absolutely sure. With iTunes, you devriez be able to cancel the update request and simply restore the backup, but unfortunately I can't talk with the same certainty of this method.

  • iTunes on my 2008 iMac won't work.

When I try to open iTunes on my 2008 iMac, it opens for 1 second then closes the window and the program. Should I maybe just consider to Apple?

Your profile suggests that you are always under Snow Leopard, which was released more than six years ago.

I suggest that you upgrade to the latest version of OS X (El Capitan, OS X 10.11.3).)  Then you will be able to run the latest version of iTunes (12.3.2), which cannot be run on Snow Leopard.

  • 2008 iMac can't be repaired?

The power supply on my 2008 iMac has not so I set an appointment for the Genius Bar.  I'm here and the 'genius' looks at it and says that the 2008 iMac is obsolete and Apple doesn't even make for him more.  The iMac is not my main computer but it has always worked well, my children used, and new, it's a very expensive machine.  Now I find myself with a computer that can not be repaired because the parts Apple are the property.

I'm more than a little irritated.  Planned obsolescence is one thing but forced?  Seems to have no option here.  With a PC, I could continue to power from any computer, store and buy a power supply but with the iMac, I apparently need to buy a new machine every six or seven years.  Given how much why should more expensive mac on PC, I buy a Mac?  I type this comment on my MacBook Pro and get stuck thinking, well I'll have to replace it in a few years too.

Finally, if my machine is obsolete and it will not affect Apple, why did let drag me the thing into an Apple store?  My machine is connected to the appointment is not as if I was walking with a surprise.  Why I was even able to make the appointment?

Why not check out this site:

    https://www.iFixit.com/

Or find an authorized service provider and ask them. I wouldn't bother with Apple at this point.

I think that Apple is officially supported hardware for about 5-7 years (they have to support it for three for anyone with the Applecare). I must say though: you have a computer almost 8 years - I consider myself lucky to have one last that long because: Unfortunately, anything electronic is virtually obsolete the day walk out you of the store with her.
