  • How to restore a virtual computer to another computer using Backup Exec virtual

    Hi all

I tested VMware 3.5.  We have little budget, so we intend to convert 5-10 dev servers into virtual machine running on an existing ML570 HP.  I created a test VM; I could back up and restore the entire virtual machine using Backup Exec to a physical server without problem.  However I can not restore a virtual machine to a different VM.  Let's say I dv01; I backed up using Backup Exec dv01 on the physical server.  Pretending the host has no I have rebuilt a new host, created a new virtual machine with the same name dv01 and same features.  I restored dv01 from the backup.  The restoration is properly; However, he got a blue screen when I rebooted the virtual computer.  The blue screen went so big that I don't remember what it was, but it's the kind of a dll error.

We want to keep the budget as small as possible using our existing Backup Exec agents, but it doesn't seem to work here.  Is Backup Exec for VMware agent a MUST?  Catering to the same VM is good, but restore to a different VM is not so simple.

    THX.

As you can see in http://www.vmware.com/products/vi/buy.html, VCB is included in all editions of VI 3.5.

  • How to restore a deleted using Snap Manager VM?

I have problems to restore the virtual computer. I have an ESX host, attached to a NFS volume for storage on a netapp, and I'm on VSphere Client V4. I break my VM on a regular basis and test what happends if I delete an image.

I click with the right button on the "VM" and select "remove disc".

On the NFS volume, while the virtual machine is always present, I see that all of the .vm files * disappeared.

I open Manager Snap vor (v 1.2) Virtual Infrastructure and restore the snap before deletion.

Once completed I can see all of the .vm files * have returned on the netapp, however, the VM does not reappear on the vsphere console.

How can I get that back?

Navigate to the folder of the virtual machine in the data store, right-click on the ".vmx" file and select Add to the inventory.

original title: restore a deleted file

I deleted a file from a flash drive. It does not appear in the Recycle Bin. How can I restore it?

Windows XP does not create a basket for removable flash drives or any other "device with removable media" (for example, a floppy drive).

If you look at my computer with a flash drive and a hard drive connected by USB, you will see that the flash player is listed with CD and DVD readers "Devices with removable storage", but the external drive is listed with internal as «Hard drives» discs

If this is an important issue, immediately stop using the flash drive, then download Recuva, which should be able to get it back.

    Hello

You're confused system recovery and system restore.

System Restore makes the settings from your computer to an earlier date; It will not reinstall the operating system.

System recovery reinstalls the operating system how much you bought your machine; as for the new State.

You can reinstall by the HP Recovery Manager if your computer is still running or by pressing F11 at startup.

You can also make your own recovery discs.

All these information are the included HP link.

  • Mutiple remove virtual computer in Virtual Center 5.1?

Does anyone know how to remove several virtual machines both in the virtual Center 5.1?

Looking for an easier way rather than a virtual computer to both research and removing one at a time.

I did a LOT of research with ZERO success.

    Hi theire,.

so if I would have a very big amount of VM that I have to delete then I would with an input file and using powercli for quicker removal.

    try following:

create the file vms.txt (and writing of the vm vertically)

Then, you can use following code as deletion for all virtual machines of this entry.

    ####################

    to connect-viserver xxxxxx

    $content = get-content "path to the file.

    $vms = get - vm $content

    {foreach ($vm to $vms)

    Remove-VM $vm - DeletePermanently-confirm: $false

    }

    #####################

It's a very simple Code > you could also integrate some kind of loop until the VM is turned off,...

But in any case with Powercli I think delete is much more rapid then plu vi-client. equal to how the script looks like.

  • How would recreate the pagefile to a Windows 2008 virtual computer running on a host ESX 3i?

As the subject says, I'm looking for a way to do this.  I inherited the environment of another group and it is very small, but it performs ESX 3i on the two hosts and Vcenter version 2.5 (Infrastructure) is a bit old.  5 of 6 VM are operational, however, the 6th when turned on will not get 40% full, but then it will fail to stating that is not a swap file.  Now, normally it is not a swap file, because they are created or deleted dynamically whenever a virtual computer is powered on one of the hosts.  It's quite strange.

In the new versions / environments, there seem to be ways to recreate exchange capacity easily, but which doesn't seem to be the case here.  I don't think it's a process lock as the two hosts have restarted to clear HA agent / editions of the resource.  My guess is this has happened has been one of the hosts could not reproduce any more process for some reason any and when the VM problem has been powered down to try to erase some, the problem occurred.  Either that, or there are unreadable sectors in the data store, and perforated in this swap file black...

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to solve the problem.  Any input would be welcome.

    Thank you!

    All,

Thanks for the suggestions, but I solved the problem.  What needed to be done was to remove the virtual machine of the inventory and then re-create it as a new virtual machine under the cluster of the same name, same settings and have it use its 2 existing virtual disks.  For some stupid reason, once this is done, he managed to turn on normally and now runs without problem.

I'm not necessarily happy that this solution because it does not really help understand me what underlying the problem actually was, but I guess I can live with that.  The reason why I have not tried it earlier, is that I was afraid the vmdk would be replaced and I wanted to keep the existing information.  However, someone I work with was certain that they had done before, and that she maintained the pre-existing data, even in this older version, so I finally tried.

in any case, thanks for the support, and if someone can glean some root causes of the problem based on the solution I have just given, that would be helpful.

  • How to remove a virtual computer in WS 8 draws it from 'my computer '.

    Salvation;

I recently did some "house keeping" system by removing some old VMS (Windows 7 64-bit). I finished remove disk outside the workstation 8 thinking that I could just delete the list of workstation.

I opened the 8.0.6, workstation and I went to the tab 'my computer '. Maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but I expect to be able to right click on the entry for the virtual machine and 'remove' from the list.

Instead, right click only gives me the choice of 'open '. Open does not work of course because the virtual machine isn't there anymore.

Am I missing something? What is the way to remove a deleted virtual machine? (Or even if not deleted one by the way).

Even for machines that I still, I can't find an option 'remove '. (I see the closest thing is to Manage / "remove disc", which is more drastic than just detached from the list).

    Thank you;

OK, I forgot that there is a separate pane 'library' (I normally hidden). I thought that the 'My computer' tab has been where I removed the VMs when it was really the library list, with that I needed to work.

  • Strange problem after moving from the virtual computer to a new data store

I am migrating our VM existing (8 in total) a 'problem' RAID to a new table on a new controller and am having a strange problem. Here are the steps I took (host OS is Ubuntu 8.0.4 LTS x 64):

    (1) off the power the virtual computer from the Web interface

    (2) the directories created for each virtual on the new RAID array computer (in this case a RAID 10 array on LSI 9750-8i controller)

    (3) rSync used to copy the data from RAID1 to be RAID2

    4) has created a new data store on the new RAID through the Web Server of VMWare user interface.

    (5) removed VM of the inventory through the Web, their return, added user interface then choose files .vmx on new data store on RAID2

They have all power save fine... but three of them are not accessible on the network. I can open a console in the Web Server of VMWare user interface and they all run normally... but I can't their ping or access the respective virtual machine Web GUI. It seems quite arbitrary that those who work and those who are not. In this case... the VM that don't work is a license Autodesk, a Squid proxy server and a VM of cactus. All three of these virtual machines are 32-bit Ubuntu Server VM (two 8.0.4 and a 10.0.4)... and are the only Ubuntu VM on this host. It must be signifigant but I'm not see how.

If I delete these three virtual machines of the inventory again and add to their original location (on the RAID1) they light up AND work normally. A consultant that we were working seemed surprised, as he had also done this experiment with some of the older VMWare products. I don't see how it would be the physical location of the files of the virtual machine. Any ideas?

We rely on the migration to ESXi soon but in the meantime, we get these a few VM out of this RAID array problem. I'm stuck.

Depending on the application, it may be enough to reconfigure the IP parameters (they are very probably on DHCP now) for the newly detected virtual NIC.

  • Increase the disk space on a virtual computer which was extracted

I have my computer running virtual Windows 7 checked. I then checked back in the VM. I need to increase disk space on drive C (the winSxS directory seems to never stop growing). But there is a snapshot on the disc 'View Local Mode of instantaneous anchorage'. What are the consequences of the removal of the snapshot myself in order to increase the size of the disk? Throw this out of sync between my laptop and the virtual computer and require all of ~ 30 GB to download again?

    Hello
If a replication extracted from a desktop computer, a snapshot of the local desktop is created and then the changes are replicated with the data center.
If you delete the snapshot, you ensure that you validate the changes.  This force probably allows you to download all of the Office during the next Check-Out operation.

  • Remove a hard drive from a virtual computer running

Hello everyone. Is there a way to remove a hard drive from a virtual computer running? Of course we can add a disk to a computer that is incredibly convenient, but there are times that we blow an as well. When clicked on the drive in the VI Client button is grayed out delete. I would have thought that other people would want to do that as well, but looking around the net and forums I find nothing!

Its not feasible in 3.5 and below.

    Haven't tried yet in 4...

  • Move a virtual computer running vCenter

    All,

I have Windows 2003 with vCenter Server and the license server running on a virtual machine on ESX 3.0.2.  I change my vmfs configurations to use extensions and move this virtual machine to a different vmfs partition I created.  How can I do this from vCenter is running on this virtual computer?  I just clone the virtual machine and then place the files on the new VMFS datastore and then turn off the initial tension on the new and delete the original?  Is there a better way to do it?  Thank you!

Another way that do is clone the VM on the other server.  Stop it and start using the other VM...

I accidentally deleted my iWatch color dial.  How can I restore it?

    Hello

It is not possible to directly restore a deleted custom dial.

However, you can easily add a new color dial and then repeat the customizations:

    • When displaying the time on your watch: firmly on the face of the watch, swept to the left until you reach the new watch face option > press the new button '+' > highlight color (using the digital Crown) dial > press to select it.

If you want, you can customize can also watch face complications.
