• ESXi with two data warehouses

  I created an ESXi server with 2 data warehouses (2 logical drives). on the logic reader1 esxi is installed, and datastore1 is located. in this datastore1 all evnironments tests are recorded. on the second locial drive2 datastore2 is registered. There are all produvtive stored systems.

  When I added the second esxi data store it says that all existing data on the logical drive will be removed. No OK no problem right now.

  now logic disk1 ranout (datastore1) of space (50 GB hard drive). So I decided to replace it with a new hard drive with a lot more capacity. During the procedure to install esxi on the new drive hard I won't lose all data on logical disk1 and datastore1. but again not problem - test only environments (2 machines) it.

  But if I add my second drive to esxi - will I lose all the data on it too? or is there a workaround for just add to esxi without losing all my data?

• Permissions to connect to esxi with perl sdk

  I tried the user scripts perl for surveillance. I have 1 Server ESXi 5.1 I can connect to directly and the script has no problem connecting.

  I have another 3 esxi servers which are connected to a server for vsphere.

  On the same server, I can connect directly to the server esxi with vsphere client no problem.

  On the vsphere server, I can only connect to the server for vsphere, I can't connect directly to the esxi hosts. (http, https, ssh, etc...)

  I think it's the issue that I have with the sdk for perl. I have a SSO connection that I can user to connect to the server for vsphere, but these permissions will not get access to the esxi host.

  Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?

  I'm really not sure about the writing of scripts and other things, but if you need to create local users in ESXi host, you must connect to the host directly and then go to the tab of local users and groups and create users.

  Credentials change requires a restart of the device and I saw the PW in a config file, so I think it's hardcoded.

  With "Store with the device" check box selected. Wizard will deploy discs in the same data store that was chosen for your POS device... If you want to store the discs also uncheck "Save...". "and chose a different stores of data available to the POS device.

  It is precisely one of the problems of VDR: you don't master's degrees not starting backup time! You define time slots during which the backup can take place. Then, the VDR system decides alone when launch the backups. The only thing you're on, it's that no backup takes place during the time slot prohibited (in grey in interface).

  Anyone who does backupstorage VMware data recovery backups to tape is?

  We back up several virtual machines on a NAS via CIFS. I don't know why someone would be the backup to a vmdk if they have a single SAN. This would mean that your backup are on the same storage as virtual servers, you backupped.

  VMware Data Recovery can keep track of the story according to your configuration. But if the NAS goes down, then you lose the history. My suggestion is to backup all the backupstorage on tape, but I wonder if it works. Do you need to take it apart if you are sure, that there is no dedup or optimization of processes running? A restore work? I want to say VMware Data Recovery will accept this 'old' storage and you only give access to the files? Because when you look at the backup storage, you'll see the files that don't resemble the original virtual machine.
