Restore questions - anyone else?

My husband and I arrived at the moment where an upgrade was due. Before picking up our new phones, I backed up my 5s using iTunes with no error and my husband saved her by using the LG software he had.

Once at home, my husband used the LG software to restore its apps, etc... It was spotless and there was operational in 30 minutes. It's the end of his story. It just worked. My story, however, not so much...

When I tried to restore my settings with iTunes, I got a half a dozen in the drop-down list of choices with the same name. There is no way to differentiate between them. We'll call this 'Apple fail #1 user experience '. Frustrated, I started working down the list of names to meet failures at every turn. I was able to locate the backup folder on my hard drive from the backup I made before my new phone, but there was no way to tell iTunes to use this folder (Apple fail #2 user experience). Finally, I arrived at what seems to be the entry related to the root of the correct backup folder, and tried to restore from there. After working for a while, iTunes doesn't have the process with "an error has occurred." What a mistake? Who knows. He did not. Error number? Nope. More information in the windows event log? No (Apple fail #3 user experience). You can also call this last part 'explosive software implementation' because if you can't bother to help the user solve their problem during an operation of such criticism, you have really no writing or software distribution company.

Ok. Now, it appeared likely that my data was missing and I have to rebuild all of my apps, settings, etc... from scratch--by hand and it was entirely the fault of Apple. It's when I've reached the threshold of "25% of what I will switch to android next time." Then, noticing that there was a "restoration of the cloud" option and in a last effort to not have to rebuild all my content from gap, I chose it. It seemed to start and don't give me any errors, so I went about my business, while it worked. Enough of my apps were restored pretty quickly that I thought that the race was over and that this last line of defence had saved me, so I've calmed down and left the process to lament how the iPhone and iTunes experience has become in recent years.

I live in the country and we have internet WiMax which is not so fast, is quite expensive, and has a 150 GB of data monthly ceiling before begin to charges by Go. Since I was moving a 32 GB is not entirely full-5s, I thought I'd be fine while restoring iCloud continued. Yet once... not so much. Over the next week, my family has noticed that the internet has been slower than normal but don't think it correlates with my phone. It wasn't until we got the opinion of our ISP we had managed to hit our cap of monthly data TOGETHER in a single week my husband started scouring the network for the offending device. PSI has provided a chart dated usage and - surprise - the valves open when the iPhone came home and was essentially at full speed all the time.

Somehow, the iPhone--in its attempt to restore far less than 32 GB of data had managed to consume 150 GB of traffic. Happening all right beyond the 'Apple fail #4 user experience' only in order to "Apple apparently doesn't care any more." Thanks to this complete omission from Apple and only Apple - my internet Bill was higher that it should have been $ 45.

But, it's ok. Live and learn. Everyone knows this kind of failure on many levels?

Nope. Whenever I have restore from an iCloud upward, I do do so via a WiFi connection because the data rates and all that jazz.

Sounds typical honestly, but then again I just run with most of the problems because I never assume that nothing is perfect or will work as expected 100% of the time. It's just technology for the yah!  But it's also my personal point of view.

Sorry to hear about the hiccups, but at least you never know to restore from a backup of iCloud at home again. (Also to * with data-caps, they ruin any good on the internet.)

    Using Outlook Express 6 with Win XP I compacted files as requested. next time, I used email all old messages were gone and never seen again. I've never used 'compact the file"once again - it was a disaster. Anyone else done this?

    If you compact, you will always lose messages at any given time.
     
     
    Two reasons the most common for what you describe is disruption of the compacting process, (never touch anything until it's finished), or bloated folders. More about that below.

    Recovery methods:
     
    If you are running XP/SP3, then you should have a backup of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin (or possibly the message store), copied as bak files.
     
    To restore a folder bak on the message store folder, first find the location of the message store.
     
    Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.
     
     
    In Windows XP, the .dbx files are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in the Solution Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder options | View.
     

    Note: If you have new messages in the folder you are go restore, move them to a folder first created user, or they will be lost. They can be moved once the old posts have been restored.
     

    Close OE and in Windows Explorer, click on the dbx to the file missing or empty file, then drag it to the desktop. It can be deleted later once you have successfully restored the bak file. Minimize the message store.
     
     
    Open OE and, if the folder is missing, create a folder with the * exact * same name as the bak file you want to restore but without the .bak. For example: If the file is Saved.bak, the new folder should be named saved. Open the new folder, and then close OE. If the folder is there, but just empty, continue to the next step.
     
     
    First of all, check if there is a bak file already in the message. If there is, and you have removed the dbx file, go ahead and rename it in dbx.
     

    If it is not already in the message, open the trash and do a right-click on the file bak for the folder in question and click on restore. Open the message store up and replace the .bak by .dbx file extension. Close the message store and open OE. Messages must be in the folder.
     
     
    If messages are restored successfully, you can go ahead and delete the old dbx file that you moved to the desktop.
     
     
    If you have not then bak copies of your dbx files in the Recycle Bin:

    A general warning to help avoid this in the future:
     

    Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They finally are damaged. Create your own folders defined by the user for mail storage and move your mail to them. Empty the deleted items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 300 MB, and also empty as is possible to default folders.
     

    Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently.

    What is safe mode?

    Safe mode (sometimes called secure boot) is a way to start up your Mac so that it performs certain checks and prevents certain software from loading automatically or opening. From your Mac in safe mode does the following:
    Check your startup disk and attempts to fix problems if necessary directory
    Loads needed kernel extensions only
    Prevents elements start and the login items open automatically
    Disables the user installed fonts
    Delete font caches, hiding the kernel and other files of the system cache
    Together, these changes can help resolve or isolate issues related to your startup disk.

    Try safe mode if your Mac does not end commissioning

    After successfully started upward in safe mode, check to see if you have any login or startup items. Here are the apps that run as soon as you turn on your Mac and continue to run in the background that can slow down the performance of your Mac.

    I am SO ticked.  I am not able to install programs since the last update.  The manufacturer after that restore did not work is the system recovery.  I came to realize somewhere in the system of Windows, that I am not recognized as the administrator, even if the user account has listed me as an administrator.  If I right click and run as administrator, I can install and download.  Tried to find another solution on the Microsoft Web site, but can not. I'M SICK OF SCREWING THINGS MICROSOFT UPDATES AND BEING EXPECTED TO PAY TO DO REPAIR.  Does anyone else have a problem that does not require orders me to go the long restoration process!  That would be appreciated.

    Well, I think that I have finally confirmed that it was a problem of Windows Defender.  I was able to restore to the point before restoration 4 Windows Defender Update.  Everything is back to normal now.

    Some people have persevered with contact support via the link on the MS download site and have finally received the download links temporary for an English version.  [You will find these discussions if you looking for the Korean forum as most people in your situation included that word in their title of the question.  I don't remember one of these threads containing any additional info that would be of no use to you.]

    If that does not appeal to you & you still cannot find your original installation disks, then buy a disc-relocation

    1. Amazon now stock reinstallation DVD for just a quid [the link is for their UK site site American stocks also to them].
    2. These seem to be exactly what they claim they do not have a product key and that they are specifically described as being for reassembly only - in other words, they are not an attempt to distribute pirated Windows.
    3. You must use your own product key for activation.
    4. Make sure order you Windows 7 edition {Home Premium etc.} that is identified on your certificate of authenticity [the label that contains your product key].
    5. Some of the sellers provide 32 bit and 64 bit DVD, while others provide one or the other.  So make sure you order the right kind.
    6. These discs can do everything what a system repair disc can do, so you'll not need to make a separately.

    This is the second time that I applied a patch ACS to one of our boxes of ACS SE 1113 only to happen in an unusable state. Today, I applied patch level 4.1.4.13.7 4.1.4.13.11. I used the GUI to apply the hotfix. Now most of the services will not start. Restore does not work. It seems that he will again have to be reconfigured.

    I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. Maybe I should have used the command line to apply the patch?

    Out of nowhere my last folio is having what is clearly the problems of Adobe server - few people have written in saying the new folio freezes in the middle of the download and close unexpectedly. Adobe technical support was not helpful and told to make a new application - at the same time most of my readers is fine download. I don't know what to do and curious to know if this is happened to anyone else?

    Adobe only technicians Council gave is that I need to build a new application - which is absurd because many readers have no problems to download this new folio - I can't imagine what could complete a new application.

    I feel I'm getting technical support badly and am curious to know if anyone has had this happen.

    For the record - well I don't have a 9 - iOS iOS app 9 users were able to download the folio fine - if it's not exactly the question.

    BackstoryMagazine ... your viewer is a 32.0.3 version which was to build on 25 September 2014 and I suspect that may run you into a problem of download that we fixed with v32.1 (Digital Publishing Suite help |) DPS Bug Fix Release Notes)-see below:

    Download the failures of large files  With v32 iOS apps, download of the significant assets via a slow connection caused a timeout to occur, resulting in a failure of a transfer. Specifically, this problem occurred when a part of a Folio took longer than 120 seconds to download on the device. This problem has been resolved with version v32.1. The solution is to reconstruct and resubmit your iOS app.

    You would have to rebuild your viewer and try again.

    None of these issues are causing the error in DW CS6. We double-checked all of them and we did everything right. Also I have exactly the same SiteSetup in DW CS4 and that works perfectly well. Might need to factor 6 which did not exist in the 4? Something that is not in the SiteSetup but in a hidden dialog box?

    I can also download my host using Fetch, a third party FTP. And like I said that DW CS4 works very well. So the problem is not with my host, sound with DW CS6 in particular.

    You are most likely missing something fairly simple (some goofy box cache you in some menus random). The best way to solve this problem, without playing 20 questions...

    1 open the site in DWCS4 and go to Site > Manage Sites > export to create a your site settings .ste file.

    2. close DWCS4 and open DWCS6

    3. go to the Site > Manage Sites > Import to import the .ste file to create a new site at DWCS6

    This will create an exact copy of your CS4 settings in CS6. If it still does not work, let know us and someone should have another idea for you.

  • Unable to send message AT & T - does not connect to the server. Anyone else having this problem?

    All of a sudden I can't send messages on my AT & T account. I get a message that Thunderbird cannot connect to the server (SMTP). Called at & T and they checked all the settings. I can access my email account on Apple Mail and Yahoo (AT & T email provider), and yet I can not send messages on Thunderbird. I can receive but not send.

    I tried deleting the account and the recovery, but that has not helped. Does anyone else have this problem?

    Even set up a new account did not work. Despite AT & you s claim that it was not a problem with their servers and taking me through a number of measures to ensure what was the origin of the problem, he as magically disappeared as soon he came a few hours after all the machinations. So, still do not know what caused it, but it disappeared.
