  We have an environment vSphere 4.0 with Virtual Center currently also on 4.0

  We have a customer who specifically wants a service account integrated into VC for some software sought to use that gathers info vCPU and host pCPU where their live VM and we gave that service acocunt read only access in VC.

  However, it is kind of a risk for us since now they can just download a VI client and to use the service account to enter VC and have visibility on the environment which we do not necessarily want.

  I know that there are options to restrict the IPS to hosts / VC however do not think that it is an optimal solution and do not know how many intellectual property can the client uses to get there.

  Y at - it a script or a another method that everyone knows that can be limited using the VI client for a particular user or a script that puts an end to a session as soon as someone connects to the VC?

  the VI client uses exactly the same Webservices APIs that scripts or software the customer uses to query information for vCenter.

  This means at the level of the Protocol that you cannot distinguish queries performed by the VI client and requests made by another program.

  Even if you find a way to make the VI client inaccessible to your customer (I doubt this is even possible) it will still be able to use a PowerCLI script or another tool to read all the vCenter data to which he has access.

  What you really need to do is:

  -Isolate resources (networks hosts, VMs, data warehouses,...) that your customer has access to in a separate object data center in vCenter

  -Limit read access to the data center of the service account or even for the subset of its objects for which it should have read access.

  Depending on the requirements of your customers (and your willingness to accomplish...), it can be more or less complex and tedious know how to limit access to the objects in vCenter as it is able to query the data required, but nothing more.

  ustomers Type & Version limiting build rules to allow or deny VPN Clients according to their type and software version. Build these rules exactly, using the formats, abbreviations and other specifications of rule below.

  Build rules in the format p [ermit] /d [eny]:, for example, d VPN 3002: 3.6*.

  The * character is a wildcard character. You can use it several times to each rule. For example:

  refuse *: 3.6* = deny all clients running software version 3.6 x.

  Use a separate line for each rule.

  Rules of order of priority. The first rule that matches is the rule that applies. If a rule later contradicted, the system ignores. If you set all the rules, all connections are allowed.

  When a customer matches any of the rules, the connection is refused. This means that if you set a deny rule, you must also set at least an allow rule, or all connections are refused.

  For software and hardware customers, customer type and software version must match their appearance (non-case sensitive) in the monitoring | Screen sessions, including spaces. We recommend that you copy and paste from this screen to it.

  "N/a" for the type or version to identify the client sends no information. For example: n permit / a:n / a = allow any client who does not send the client, type, and version.

  You can use a total of 255 characters for the rules. The line break between rules using two characters. To keep the characters, use p for permits and d to deny. Eliminate the spaces except as required for the type of client and the version. You don't need a space before or after the colon (:)).

  I was using Skype on my desktop for a few months with the version number 7.26.64.101.

  It works very well for me and I can't remember where I downloaded this version.

  It seems that the version number of the official client is always (0) that is downloaded from the official site.

  I looked through other threads and discovered that the third number is corresponds to some features or partner.

  It doesn't mean ANYTHING. The only one which indicates that this number is a specific download server, nothing else.

  A bit is a tour here.

  According to Cisco:

  Install the VPN Client on a Vista 64 bit Machine will cause an error 1721

  Cisco IPSec Client does not support 64-bit. If the user requires a 64-bit support, upgrade path is to use the Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client instead, that supports 64-bit. Note that the AnyConnect Client supports only SSL VPN (CSCsi26069) connections.

  So if you want to go with 64-bit, you need SSL support on the VPN 3000 series and replace all IPSEC with SSL connections.

  which generates three separate files. We tried using a single operation and listing the 3 times of the VersionAbbrev, but that didn't work and also list the 3 versions in a VersionAbbrev.

  Question: When I connect to my guests with the VSphere client it forces me to re-download the VSphere client. As you can see from the attached PDF there pretty much all installed versions. Yet, he's trying to go to vsphereclient.vmware.com to try to download again (which cannot because it is on a closed network). It is meaningless to me, as you can see I have all versions of the installed client. My boss who also has the same installed versions can connect.   We have a large site and have only allowed using IPSEC for all our branch in branch and the user tunnels. We tried SSL years but she limits so we stopped deployment. We must now begin the SSL VPN user and I have a few questions basic ASA.

  I have a unused ASA 5510 for tests that currently holds the 8.3.2 on it, Security code more license, 100 SSL VPN peers and 250 total peers of VPN, VLAN max 100, 2 seconds, active/active contexts, 2 proxies of phone CPU and everything else is disabled. We do not intend on using a SSL connection web anywhere (Anyconnect essentials?) and will not use the entire customer VPN SSL which will be hand loaded on machines or downloaded from the ASA and loaded on the computer if possible. I want to know is what version of the current code can install on my ASA without losing my existing SSL VPN 100 peers license and that the Anyconnect customer would be sustained? I've seen talk about premium Anyconnect but do not know its relationsonship. If I improve the ASA of new releases or versions of code my peer SSL VPN license turns into an Anyconnect Premium license?

  Any help to get started you in the right direction would be appreciated. I know I can spend days trying to understand Cisco licenses and traps and still get burned in the end with the function or the wrong license. Basically, I want to know what I have to install the end-user complete SSL VPN clients and I have to do with the ASA to provide this functionality with current license / feature set there. I also want to know what the end user should be used because it seems that Anyconnect Secure Mobile is the same if I use all its security features. Example - I am not able to check for firewall/malware etc programs but we currently have a policy in place which does not allow browsing the Internet or access when end users have connections VPN tunnel on our site. That restriction will always be kept if this is possible thanks to the SSL VPN connection also.

  The SSL VPN client-based license will remain active on your box through Software ASA updates later. AnyConnect Essentials (which you already have) will work with the feature of SSL VPN license.

  You would be upgrading to AnyConnect Premium only if you wanted to add features like clientless SSL VPN (purely based on a browser) or other items such as Advanced Endpoint Assessment (AEA). AnyConnect Premium can coexist with Anyconnect Essentials on the SAA even if you can't mix and match licenses Premium and Essentials.

  Essential distinction or Premium is mainly directed towards the installation of the ASA. The same AnyConnect Secure Mobility client software (version 3.1 is the latest for Windows and OS X and is quite a nice new version) is used in both cases. Functional additional client plug-ins are things such as the AEA and the NAC 802.1 x. Your group policies based on the SAA as no split tunneling, etc. remain in force.

  If you intend to allow clients of mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, and Android (a very limited support for the last BTW)) to access your VPN, you will need to add the mobile on the SAA AnyConnect license and install the client from the respective AppStore.   Hello, I'm no expert on the matter, but it is quite possible that the spdy Protocol, which is used by google on its secure sites (twitter atm) and is causing the behavior that you have seen.
