Retrieve the XML via an HTTP request

Hello

What would be the most effective way to recover the large XML from Oracle (gr 11, 2) via a HTTP request?
XML is generated during execution in a stored procedure with either XML SQL statements as
select xmlelement("text", 'Hello world') from dual;
or other methods as
select DBMS_XMLGEN.GETXML ('select ''Hello world'' text from dual') from dual;
I'm sure I'll be using embedded PL/SQL gateway as an HTTP server, and I can easily manage small XMLs that fit into a VARCHAR2 with a following procedure:
  PROCEDURE HelloWorld AS
    xml xmltype;
  BEGIN
    select xmlelement("text", 'Hello world') into xml from dual;
    owa_util.mime_header('text/xml');
    htp.print(xml.getstringval);
  END;
Then I she would recover via http:// < hostname >: < port > / < DAD > /HelloWorld

But I do not know how to handle large (several MB) XMLs.
I couldn't find anything useful within OWA * or HTP packages and splitting of the CLOB in chunks of 32 K seems inefficient and a little ugly to me.
Any suggestions?

With respect,
Goran

Hi Goran,

See this post for a similar situation, it isn't that bad to see: {message identifier: = 10619251}

Alternatively, you can use Native database Webservice to display the result of the query, and then pull it out via the HTTP protocol.

  • Too much request URI when send long MapViewer application via utl.http.request

    Hi all

    I am creating a website where users can select layers by using the checkboxes and then showed the layers resulting.

    However, when users select a number of layers I get the error message:
    Request-URI Too Large
    The requested URL's length exceeds the capacity limit for this server.
    request failed: URI too long
    After testing this out in v3 of Firefox and Internet Explorer v6, I get the same error message in both. After reading some other threads here I know that the problem is due to the url is too long. I can't shorten the url and there's a chance that the layers more added to the database where the layers are stroed, he could become even greater in the future.

    Therefore, no one knows how a XML request may be sent to MapViewer using HTML, without the use of URL. While the url is not displayed on the screen, it is sent to utl_http.request. I don't know a form would work for sending a request or if it would be, how it could be implemented using utl_http.request or any other utl.http method.

    I use MapViewer 10.2 and Oracle 10.2.0.2 and I'm not able to upgrade if it was no longer useful.

    Kind regards

    Tim

    Tim,

    I do not understand your architecture - specifically how the UTL_HTTP package comes into play here. You send your XML request from the browser to the base, which will then forward to Mapviewer via the UTL_HTTP package? Or you send them directly from the browser, in which case UTL_HTTP plays no role in the picture?

    To send a mapviewer request using the POST method, via a form, here's how the form would look like in simple HTML:

    I did a few tests. Using the POST method, I observe no restriction: the xml query can be very large: I did tests with 16K applications and more. Using the GET method, I get chess (HTTP 400 Bad request) as soon as the resulting URL will more than 4 KB.

  • How to retrieve the XML values in a plsql table type

    Hello

    I have an XML doc as below which is a Web Service response message.

    <? XML version = "1.0" encoding = "UTF-8"? >
    < SOAP - ENV:Envelope
    xmlns:SOAP - ENV = "http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/".
    container = "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema".
    xmlns: xsi = "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" >
    < SOAP - ENV:Body >
    < GetOrgInput xmlns = "http://www.example.org/ComplianceServices" >
    < ProgramName > PgmA-Srsf < / ProgramName >
    < > 800 ADSL ItemName < / ItemName >
    < org > 923 < / org >
    < org > 1163 < / org >
    < org > 1103 < / org >
    < / GetOrgInput >
    < / SOAP - ENV:Body >
    < / SOAP - ENV:Envelope >

    The doc above, you could see that I have several occurrences of the element "Ent". I usually use the .extract and. getSTringVal() to retrieve the values as below.

    l_string_variable: = p_response.doc.extract ('/ /'| p_name |) ' /Child::Text()',p_namespace).getStringVal();

    But in this case if I do that, I get value as 92311631103. I need to get them in a table of the number type. Pls advice me on how to do this.

    Thank you
    PKV

    I'm guessing it's a bug fixed when Oracle 10.2 is released. I can reproduce your lack of results on 10.1.0.4 and as shown in my post above, it works correctly on 10.2.0.4.

    Here is a modification of the script that shows what is happening that I have that debugging. (It took me a bit to realize the difference that it wasn't what I was expecting)

    declare
       p_response_doc XMLTYPE;
       l_new_doc      XMLTYPE;
    begin
       p_response_doc := XMLTYPE('

    1163
    1103

    ');
       SELECT p_response_doc.extract('/*/*/*/CompliantOrgs','xmlns="http://www.example.org/ComplianceServices"')
         INTO l_new_doc
          FROM dual;
       dbms_output.put_line(l_new_doc.getStringVal());
       dbms_output.put_line('before loop');
       FOR r_rec IN (SELECT value(t) val
    --   FOR r_rec IN (SELECT extractvalue(value(t)
    --      , '/CompliantOrgs'
    --      , 'xmlns="http://www.example.org/ComplianceServices"' ) val
          -- BULK COLLECT INTO l_nm_array
          FROM TABLE(
            XMLSequence(
              p_response_doc.extract('/*/*/*/CompliantOrgs','xmlns="http://www.example.org/ComplianceServices"')
              )
            ) t
       ) LOOP
          dbms_output.put_line(r_rec.val.getStringVal());
    --      dbms_output.put_line(r_rec.val);
       END LOOP;
       dbms_output.put_line('After output');
    end;

    10.2.0.4 on this product

    1163
    1103

    before loop
    1163
    1103
    After output

    It produces on 10.1.0.4

    1163
    1103

    before loop
    1163

    1103

    After output

    As you can see, Oracle is to detach (well technically not add) the space of default names to the nodes retrieved. To compensate, you need to change your loop to look like

       FOR r_rec IN (SELECT extractvalue(value(t)
          , '/CompliantOrgs') val
    --      , 'xmlns="http://www.example.org/ComplianceServices"' ) val
          -- BULK COLLECT INTO l_nm_array
          FROM TABLE(
            XMLSequence(
              p_response_doc.extract('//CompliantOrgs','xmlns="http://www.example.org/ComplianceServices"')
              )
            ) t
       ) LOOP

    so extractValue does not expect the namespaces associated with the nodes.

    I would suggest you document it so that you know why things break if you upgrade to 10.2 or later at some point in the future.

  • How to get AFExecuteThisScript to return the value of Net.HTTP.request (asynchronous)?

    I have an Acrobat only plugin, developed in 2005 VS.  Originally with Acrobat 7 SDK, now updated to use Acrobat 9 SDK.  The ultimate goal of this feature is to open a PDF file from a web server Agile: If a user string, a URL is created, a request sent to the URL, then pay back the answer.  The answer can be either the PDF itself or a string path to the PDF file.  I thought it would be easier to use the version of PDF path to simply open the new PDF of the http:// address.

    I created a folder level javascript with a call to Net.HTTP.request confidence.  I have a script that works when invoked from a menu item added by the folder level javascript file.  But when you use this same command in my C++ with AFExecuteThisScript code, I can't get the HTTP response to finish pending in the code for the result.

    The Net.HTTP.request and the asynchronous callbacks confuse me, so maybe that's my big problem.  I could not Net.HTTP.request to return a value in a service simple javascript right now, I'm trying to use a "global" variable in the JavaScript folder level and two calls.  The first call "sets" the global variable, the other "becomes" it.  But this seems to be the issue.  When I have my code debugging or stop execution, the part of the response of the Net.HTTP.request is never called.  But when I left to go beyond this step with error recovery, the answer appears later.

    So how kick off of the Net.HTTP.request and be notified when it's over?  either in JavaScript or VC ++?

    Any help is appreciated.  Even if the best option is to stream the file from the web server to a local file and then open the (this is the option that I take in another tool that runs outside of Acrobat).

    Here's the code.

    Javascript controls at the level of the files (urls truncated for the post)

    var THE_PATH = '';

    function setTHE_PATH ( gURL ) {
        console.println('setTHE_PATH Begin');
        var params =
        {
            cVerb: 'GET',
            cURL: gURL,
            oHandler:
                {
                    response: function( msg, uri, e)
                    {
                        console.println('response method: Setting Path');
                        THE_PATH = SOAP.stringFromStream( msg );
                        console.println('<<' + THE_PATH + '>>');
                    }
                }
        };
        console.println('URL: ' + params.cURL + '\n  oHandler: ' + params.oHandler );
        console.println('Path: ' + THE_PATH );
        var netResult = trustedNetHTTPrequest(params);
        console.println('setTHE_PATH End');
        return THE_PATH;
    };

    trustedNetHTTPrequest = app.trustedFunction(
        function ( params ) {
            console.println('trustedNetHTTPrequest begin');
            app.beginPriv();
            var netResult = Net.HTTP.request( params );
            app.endPriv();
            console.println('trustedNetHTTPrequest end');
            return netResult;
        }
    );

    Added MenuItems with JavaScript at the folder level

    app.addMenuItem( {
        cName: "mysetTHE_PATH",
        cUser: "set THE_PATH", cParent: "Tools",
        cExec: "setTHE_PATH('http://......&getURL=true');",
        nPos: 0
    } );

    app.addMenuItem( {
        cName: "mygetTHE_PATH",
        cUser: "get THE_PATH", cParent: "Tools",
        cExec: "console.println( THE_PATH );",
        nPos: 0
    } );

    Here's the JavaScript Console output when you run these two commands:

    setTHE_PATH Begin
    URL: http://......&getURL=true
      oHandler: [object Object]
    Path:
    trustedNetHTTPrequest begin
    trustedNetHTTPrequest end
    setTHE_PATH End
    response method: Setting Path
    <<https://......DesiredFilename.pdf>>

    Here is the function in the plugin C++, with additional measures to prove AFExecuteThisScript works here

    sprintf(jsScript, "testVal='%s';event.value = testVal;", strURL.c_str() );
    AFExecuteThisScript( aPdDoc, jsScript, &pReturnValue );
    // After this, pReturnValue is the passed-in URL, as expected.
    sprintf(jsScript, "setTHE_PATH('%s');event.value = 'Step 1 Worked!!';", strURL.c_str() );
    AFExecuteThisScript( aPdDoc, jsScript, &pReturnValue );
    // After this, pReturnValue is 'Step 1 Worked!!', as expected.
    sprintf(jsScript, "event.value = THE_PATH;", strURL.c_str() );
    AFExecuteThisScript( aPdDoc, jsScript, &pReturnValue );
    // After this, pReturnValue is NULL

    This is the JavaScript Console output when you run the commands using the plugin (mode debugger, to wait after step 1)

    setTHE_PATH Begin
    URL: http://......&getURL=true
      oHandler: [object Object]
    Path:
    trustedNetHTTPrequest begin
    trustedNetHTTPrequest end
    setTHE_PATH End

    Note that he never gets to the part of the "method of response.

    Thank you!

    Tim James

    You need not limit yourself to the plugin API. The requests HTTP from C/C++ is a fairly common condition, just observe the restrictions in my answer.

  • Rename the XML via Javascript tags

    Currently, I have a script that detects some paragraph styles and renames them. For example:

    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;

    var myStyle = myDoc.paragraphStyles.itemByName ("bar SIDE B HEAD");
    myStyle.name = "SIDEBAR HEAD of NOTE"

    I would like to do the same thing with some names of XML tags, preferably as part of the same script. I'm sure it's pretty easy, but for some reason, I can't find any info on how to tell the XML tags!

    I looked in the tutorial Scripting InDesign CS4 and Adobe Introduction to scripting, but at this point, I feel I'm wasting my time on a simple problem. Anyone can help out by an amateur?

    Thanks in advance,

    Matt

    Yes you are right Matt, it is very easy.

    var myDoc = app.activeDocument;
    var myTag = myDoc.xmlTags.itemByName("Old");

  • My native BB app, how to connect to the remote URL and call a Web service method to retrieve the XML base result using Eclipse Version 3.7.2

    Hello

    I am new to the development of native applications from BB using JDE. I'm testing Simulator. From my native BB app, I connect a remote URL and call a Web service method to extract some basic result XML.

    I need to write a login code remote URL to achieve? If so, how?

    So, how can I use this connection object to call the Web service from this URL remotely.

    Please help me out of it...

    Many thanks in advance...

    What i am doing is, On clicking the "Login" button i want to call the webservice method like below mentioned code...
    Here WaveServices is a class and getAllCinemas() is a static method inside which a webservice method call is made..

    loginButtonField.setChangeListener(new FieldChangeListener() {
                public void fieldChanged(Field paramField, int paramInt) {
                    WaveServices.getAllCinemas();
                }
            });

    Indeed, the question was raised and answered here:

  • Need help getting A value in My App using xml/php http request

    I know that maybe this isn't the place to ask questions about php, but I thought that people may have encountered a similar problem and I'm getting desperate basically my application's data is stored in a mysql database table, and what I have to do is to get the value of auto increment of this table in my application via an http request. I'm doing a php file that gets this value and displays this value in the xml format, but I'm terrible at creating php to do such things and just get the constant errors. Can someone take a look at this and help me to tweak it so it does what I want it please? The table in question is called links and the line/field/column in the table I'm after is called linkid. This is the next value of auto-increment this line printed in xml format, that's what I want. Here is the php so far:-

    <?php
    header("Content-type: text/xml");
    $host = "";
    $user = "";
    $pass = "";
    $database = "";
    $linkID = mysql_connect($host, $user, $pass) or die("Could not connect to host.");
    mysql_select_db($database, $linkID) or die("Could not find database.");
    $tablename   = "links";
    $next_increment  = 0;
    $qShowStatus   = "SHOW TABLE STATUS LIKE '$tablename'";
    $qShowStatusResult  = mysql_query($qShowStatus) or die ( "Query failed: " . mysql_error() . "<br/>" . $qShowStatus );
    $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($qShowStatusResult);
    $next_increment = $row['Auto_increment'];
    echo "next increment number: [$next_increment]";
    ?>

    Hello

    step 1. the customer wants to add a new record. and sends a request for a new record

    step 2. the server adds a new record in the database (now its Blanck) and returns its ID number

    step 3.  the customer has now has an appropriate identification number and use it to add a new object to the table

    step 4. the customer with a registration ID and the new data for this "empty folder" is an update not an insert.

    step 5. You now have the table and database synchronization.

    David.

  • HTTP Communication tutorial - parsing of the XML file error

    Hello again,

    I went through the tutorial of HTTP Communication today is here. Built just fine and it loaded into the Simulator, however when I hit refresh to load the XML from an HTTP network call I get the error:

    XmlDataModel: Analysis of the file error... /... /.. /Data/model.XML on line 14, column 8: "unexpected character.

    After the end of the XML file, given the location of the character of line 14, column 8 is that it really confused me.

    Any thoughts on how to bypass this?

    The XML file can be found at https://developer.blackberry.com/cascades/files/documentation/device_platform/networking/model.xml

    try changing the url https://developer.blackberry.com/cascades/files/documentation/device_platform/networking/model.xml

  • How to add a JSON object in the body of a HTTP POST request

    Hello

    I use Java 8 ME incorporated and I would add a Json object in the body of an http request.

    I would like to do something like:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    HttpClientBuilder clientBuilder = HttpClientBuilder.getInstance ();

    HttpClient client = clientBuilder.build ();

    HttpRequestBuilder requestBuilder = client.build ("my_URI");
    requestBuilder.setHeader (HttpHeader.ACCEPT, "text/plain");

    [...]

    requestBuilder.setMethod (HttpMethod.POST);

    HttpRequest request = requestBuilder.build ();

    creating the Json object to be sent in the body of the http request
    JsonObject myJsonObj = Json.createObjectBuilder)
    . Add ("firstname", "John")
    . Add ("lastname", "XXX")
    . Build();

    This part, I'm a little confused: how to get the OutputStream where I should put the Json object?

    JsonWriter jsonWriter = Json.createWriter (java.io.OutputStream of);

    jsonWriter.writeObject (myJsonObj);

    jsonWriter.close ();

    invoking the http request

    HttpResponse response = request.invoke ();

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Have a tip, please?
    Thanks in advance.

  • HTTP request works does not in a Simulator

    Hi all

    am held to an odd question in the BB. My http request class always throws incorrect exception as the url. spin the MDS Server too. to send the request, I talked link http://riccomini.name/Topics/Mobile/BlackBerry/BlackBerryHTTPClient/...

    try url www.google.com... every time am getting error 400... I don't think that the url is incorrect.

    So please help me to solve the problem. Is there a problem with MDS? using jde 4.5 and 8300 simulator-based test.

    I tried the sample provided by the SDK... also for this same problem am facing

    Thanku

    Sorry not an area of expertise, but I guess you have a proxy on your network server and you must configure the MDS to work with it.  Search for proxy server, there is an article that explains how.

  • building XPath with the XML with the Namespace using PL SQL

    All trying to build the path to each node, when the XML code with no namespace, the following code works very well provide the result

    1 ~/

    2 ~ /Person/

    3 ~ /Person/ âge /

    4 ~ /Person/ homecity /

    5 ~ /Person/ nom /

    6 ~ /Person/ AccueilGuides/lat /

    7 ~ /Person/ AccueilGuides/name /

    8 ~ /Person/ homecity / long /

    The result of the code below the performance translates into just below result

    1~/

    If you have patterns, it may be easier to work directly on them.

    Here's the idea:

    (1) install "Oracle XML DB manageability Packages", available on the code page for the XML DB sample: http://download.oracle.com/otn/samplecode/xdb_util.zip

    This is a set of utilities which allows us to annotate the XML schemas, to deal with the underlying or storage structure, and (this is the interesting part here) a few views of dictionary to describe the relational XSD structure.

    (it is now an integrated 12 c btw)

    (2) enter these two schemas:

    Start

    () dbms_xmlschema.registerSchema

    schemaURL-online "pacs.002.001.03S2.xsd."

    schemaDoc-online xmltype (bfilename('TEST_DIR','pacs.002.001.03S2.xsd'), nls_charset_id ('AL32UTF8'))

    local-online true

    genTypes-online fake

    genTables-online fake

    enableHierarchy-online dbms_xmlschema. ENABLE_HIERARCHY_NONE

    options-online dbms_xmlschema. REGISTER_BINARYXML

    );

    end;

    /

    Start

    () dbms_xmlschema.registerSchema

    schemaURL-online "SCTCvfBlkCredTrf.xsd."

    schemaDoc-online xmltype (bfilename('TEST_DIR','SCTCvfBlkCredTrf.xsd'), nls_charset_id ('AL32UTF8'))

    local-online true

    genTypes-online fake

    genTables-online fake

    enableHierarchy-online dbms_xmlschema. ENABLE_HIERARCHY_NONE

    options-online dbms_xmlschema. REGISTER_BINARYXML

    end;

    In fact, you would be generally extracted from mapping data in a separate query so that you can use it to build the dynamic with XMLNamespaces clause of the namespace.

    NB1: Also note that not all roads are needed, only those which IS_LEAF = 1 or MAX_OCCURS = "unlimited" or MAX_OCCURS > '1', then you can add a filter predicate in the query directly.

    NB2: The query does support all the features of XSD, for example, I've relied on the default behavior for attributes 'element_form_default' and 'attribute_form_default '.

  • Can you help me to get the time format to match the XML dateTime?

    XML has a dateTime format that looks like this:

    2002-10 - 10T 12: 00:00 - 05:00

    and Im using the XMLElement() functions in some queries to produce an xml document however it truncates the portions of time stored data is just MM/DD/YYYY.

    I would use a to_char function but I don't know what date format in Oracle to use to match the portion of zone at the end (-05:00) and how to make so that it can accept as 't' in there as a separator, as defined in the XML schema specification:

    http://www.w3.org/TR/xmlschema-2/

    Anyone know?

    Hello

    Trant says:

    Try something like

    SELECT     TO_CHAR ( SYSTIMESTAMP
              , 'YYYY-MM-DD"T"HH24:MI:SSTZH:TZM'
              )
    FROM     dual;

    The sample output:

    2011-07-25T15:50:12-04:00

    TO_CHAR function is described in the SQL language reference manual:
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B28359_01/server.111/b28286/sql_elements004.htm#sthref396
    Search for "Date Format models" in the index.

    Put the mat (that is, fixed) text, for example the letter 'T', in the output, include it in double - quotes.
    TZH is the hours and TZM time zone format specifier is synonymous of zone Minutes.

    If you are not familiar with Java, it can be a challenge. The servlet below uses the Java IO package to convert the input stream of servlet to a string to a string buffer. The DOM4J XML parser is then used to convert the string to an XML document. The servlet writes the XML c:\\pdf.xml document and sends a response to the browser (and preview in the designer, which is actually an HTML container) HTML indicating "XML data was correctly written in c://pdf.xml." A sample pdf.xml is attached.

    NOTE: You cannot submit data from the attached PDF in Reader or Acrobat stand-alone. The PDF file must be opened in a browser. Additional scripting is required to present data from a PDF in Reader or Acrobat stand-alone.

    In LiveCycle Designer Preview I can fill in the form with the data and click on the Submit button as a result of a call to the servlet.

    The servlet responds with HTML, what is written in the browser container.

    Dom4j is the simplest of the XML parsers for the task. You will need to use an IDE like Eclipse to set up a project to use the Java API and the servlet API, DOM4J. You can also use a good old fashioned text editor and a batch file to compile the Java class.
