RMAN - obsolete command to delete without confirmation

Hello world

I created a small script witch remove obsolete or expired RMAN backups.

The problem is: the delete "obsolete" and the command "delete expired backup" needs a confirmation by YES. Could I give the script the command this way, that I don't need to confirm the order and it deletes the backups directly?

Here is my small script:
#!/bin/ksh

export ORACLE_SID=dbtest2
export ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/srv/ora/product/11.2.0/dbtest_2
export ORACLE_BIN=/home/oracle/srv/ora/product/11.2.0/dbtest_2/bin
alias RMAN=$ORACLE_BIN/rman

RMAN target / > report_del_obsolete 2>&1 <<EOI

    delete expired backup;
    delete obsolete;
    quit

EOI
Thanks for the answers and ideas!

Kind regards
David

  • My backup archivelog never becomes obsolete for the deletion

    Hello

    I am running version 11.1.0.7.0 and backup using rman and tivoli backup as media management layer.

    I make daily backups for a week, weekly full backups for a month, complete monthly full backups kept for one year and annual full backups kept for 7 years.

    My general retention policy is 30 days:

    RMAN > show all.

    using the control file of the target instead of recovery catalog database
    RMAN settings for database with db_unique_name PRODPRIM are:
    CONFIGURE RETENTION POLICY to the WINDOW of RECOVERY OF 30 DAYS; *
    CONFIGURE BACKUP OPTIMIZATION
    SET UP DEFAULT DISK DEVICE TYPE;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP ON;
    CONFIGURE CONTROLFILE AUTOBACKUP FORMAT FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO "%F" # by default
    SET UP THE DEVICE TYPE DISK PARALLELISM 8 TYPE OF BACKUP TO COMPRESSED BACKUPSET;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP OF DATA TO DISK FILE TYPE DEVICE TO 1;
    CONFIGURE BACKUP ARCHIVELOG FOR DEVICE TYPE DISK TO 1; # by default
    CONFIGURE MAXSETSIZE TO UNLIMITED;
    CONFIGURE ENCRYPTION OF DATABASE # by default
    CONFIGURE THE ENCRYPTION ALGORITHM "AES128"; # by default
    CONFIGURE COMPRESSION ALGORITHM 'BZIP2 '; # by default
    CONFIGURE ARCHIVELOG DELETION POLICY TO APPLIED ON ALL STANDBY;
    CONFIGURE SNAPSHOT CONTROLFILE NAME TO ' / oracle/PROD/db/tech_st/11.1.0/dbs/snapcf_PROD_PRIM.f';

    The daily backup script is as below:

    RMAN > print script prod_daily;

    printing stored script: prod_daily
    +{+
    allocate channel t1 type 'sbt_tape' parms 'ENV=(TDPO_usrFILE=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo.usr) ';
    allocate channel t2 type 'sbt_tape' parms 'ENV=(TDPO_usrFILE=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo.usr) ';
    allocate channel t3 type 'sbt_tape' parms 'ENV=(TDPO_usrFILE=/usr/tivoli/tsm/client/oracle/bin64/tdpo.usr) ';
    format "prod_dailybackup_ % d_ % s_ %t" Dungeon of the database backup to the time = ' sysdate 7' newspapers. +
    backup format 'prodarchbackup_ % d_ % s_ %t' archivelog all not saved 1 time;
    cross-checking of backup;
    overlap archivelog all;
    delete noprompt obsolete;
    delete expired backup noprompt.
    delete noprompt expired archivelog all;
    outline report;
    output channel t1;
    output channel t2;
    output channel t3;
    +}+

    This line: backup format + database "prod_dailybackup_ % d_ % s_ %t" keep until time = 'sysdate-7'-newspapers; I don't expect the archivelogs compulsory to recover from that backup backups will be kept and will expire when this backup expires.

    But when I list backup of archivelogs, I find archivelogs backups that were taken as early as next January, and the archivelog backups never get deleted or obsolete:

    10.2, you have to specify NEWSPAPERS.

    10.2 documentation:
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B19306_01/backup.102/b14194/rcmsynta035.htm#sthref554

    However, 11.1 and above, it is NOT necessary and, I would say, must not be specified.
    11.1 documentation:
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B28359_01/backup.111/b28273/rcmsubcl011.htm#i97063
    «+ An archive backup is autonomous because is contains all the files needed to restore the backup and recover in a consistent state.» "If the database is open during backup, then RMAN automatically generates and saves them archived redo logs necessary for the protection of the compatible database.

    and
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B28359_01/backup.111/b28270/wnbradv.htm#sthref6
    "+ Long term + improved backup management.
    + You can create a backup archiving or long-term with the BACKUP... "KEEP that keeps only the required log files archived to make consistent backup.

    and
    http://download.Oracle.com/docs/CD/B28359_01/backup.111/b28270/rcmbckba.htm#CHDHAFHJ
    "+ When you specify the DUNGEON on the BACKUP command, RMAN generates multiple backup sets. ...... It automatically generates a recovery archived log backup to ensure that the backup of the database can be recovered to a consistent state. »

    You could log a SR with support of Oracle to confirm if you need the key word "LOGS" in the BACKUP... KEEP and to identify the behavior if you happen to keep this in your backup command.

    In my humble OPINION, not be specify the LOGS of the BACKUP... KEEP.
    You could test this in a test environment by doing a BACKUP... MAINTAIN a database that has a very small WINDOW of RETENTION.

  • RMAN backup incremental level 1 without level 0-10 gr 2

    Hello

    I'm a bit confused after a few tries.

    The issue: It is mandatory to perform incremental level 0 backup before level 1 using Oracle 10 g 2?

    On Oracle 11.2 is mandatory, but I don't know about Oracle 10.2.0.5.

    11.2 test. If there is no level 0 rman take care on this subject and automatically perform level 0 before level1
    RMAN> backup incremental level 1 database;

    Starting backup at 29-APR-11

    ...
    channel ORA_DISK_1: starting incremental level 0 datafile backup set
    channel ORA_DISK_1: specifying datafile(s) in backup set
    ...
    Docs said:
    Incremental backups capture only blocks that change between backups in each data file.
    In a typical incremental backup strategy, an incremental backup of level 0 is used as a starting point. A level 0 backup captures all the blocks in the data file.

    So, on Oracle 10.2.0.5 happens not like 11.2:

    Levi,

    Please visit: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/backup.102/b14192/bkup004.htm

    If no level 0 backup is available, then the behavior depends on the setting of compatibility mode. If compatibility is > = 10.0.0, copies all blocks changed since the file was created RMAN and stores the results as a level 1 backup. In other words, the CPN at the time the incremental backup is taken is the creation of SCN file. If compatibility<10.0.0, rman="" generates="" a="" level="" 0="" backup="" of="" the="" file="" contents="" at="" the="" time="" of="" the="" backup,="" to="" be="" consistent="" with="" the="" behavior="" in="" previous="">

    A question I posted has been deleted without a valid response, another Admin sees the cases?

    I recently posted a valid, respectful and good question to the community and it has been deleted by an admin, the last answer about it was Tim kilt.

    Kind regards

    Your question was answered repeatedly in your double message. Repost the question will not change the answers.

  • How to identify files that may be deleted without jeprodizing the files needed to run the system?

    How to identify files that may be deleted without jeprodizing the files needed to run the system?

    If you have to ask, the answer is "Don't '.  Uninstall programs that you don't need through programs and features or add/remove programs.  Do not, under any circumstances, remove files unless you are absolutely sure you know what you delete first to 100%.

  • Save the changes without confirmation of Excel

    I finished my program with Excel communications.  It works fine but when the program close XL, it sends a confirmation of savings, I would save all changes automatically, without confirmation

    I tried with a node to invoke with the SaveAs method but he sends this confirmation and with the closing, but that does not work it shows error #97

    I'd appreciate any help!

    Thanks in advance!

    Its a good practice to close all the references, once they have no other use, and you close all references... .but before you have completed your use.

    Here is the explanation regarding your snapshot:

    1] you close the reference to the Application before using the open method: reference to demand, is that of MS Excel Application, so when you close the reference, you actually made an operation output to MS Excel. If MS Excel application is no longer alive then no more sense for any operation you perform. * You must close the reference application (MS Excel) when you have finished all operations that you perform on this request, last sense *.

    In the same way...

    [2] reference workbooks, can say that this reference stores to all open folders, where must be closed from last second before Application.

    [3] reference sheets, can say it stores references to all the worksheets in a single workbook or file, which must be closed in the last third, prior to filing cabinets.

    [4] worksheet reference is a reference to an individual worksheet in an Excel file and therefore must be closed when you're done with this worksheet. Say that you work with the worksheet Sheet1, Sheet2, and Sheet3 in Excel. Each leaf has its individual worksheet reference. So, when you are finished with the worksheet Sheet1, you close the reference to the "Sheet1" sheet and so on.

    [5] range reference is actually a reference to a collection (or group) of cells in a spreadsheet special (same worksheet of which it takes the reference), if you close the reference to the beach once you're done edit/update or what you intend to do with this (aka range) selection.

    Hope this helps?

  • Outlook Express 6: "Message was deleted without being read? (2)

    (Note: I posted this above subject in the Internet Explorer 8 Forum forgetting that Outlook is a desktop application.)  Apologies!)

    Hello;

    1) I recently received the following response to a serious investigation (Outlook Express 6):
    ... "Your message
    ........ To: ****
    ........ Topic: laptop... Sales
    ........ Sent: Fri, * Mar 2011 *.
    .... was deleted without being read on "Lun, *"

    2) I don't know how we could generate this message!
    If the recipient received the e-mail and read it and "didn't like it" or decided "not to answer', or the message was just displayed on the monitor and the recipient has not actually read the entire message and remove it, can it still send an auto-reply saying:
    "... your message was deleted without being read?
    It makes no sense! or does?

    3) however, if I add the email address of the sender to the "blocked senders" list, I continue to receive e-mails, but that they would go directly to the folder "deleted items", I can still read if I want, or delete them permanently from the system.
    The sender blocked in this case (any) would receive an automatic response: "... your message was deleted without being read?
    I have no way of knowing!

    Could someone please clarify?

    Thank you kindly.
    Monir

    Then again for the third time:

    If you have sent a message to someone with a program bouncing what they consider spam, you can get a response like that.

    MailWasher has capabilities of rebound, but I don't know if it's their message or someone else. It is certainly not from OE.

  • Direct mail has now combined my husbands contacts with mine and also its calendar. How can I get these deleted without having to individually?

    combination unwanted contacts

    I sent an email from my husbands computer after signing with my info.  Direct mail has now combined its contacts with mine and also its calendar.  How can I get these deleted without having to individually?

    The contacts and calendar are associated with the Live ID used to sign in with. When you view your Inbox, press Ctrl-Shift-O for Options. On the connection tab, click on stop signing in. Now, check the contacts and calendar.

  • In Windows XP, the $ntUninstall directories can be deleted without causing problems.

    I have Windows XP SP3 POS PC in our retail store lcocations.  These machines have a slightly smaller boot partition.  My question is, when you install updates from Microsoft, it creates an uninstall directory in the Windows directory.  So Windows XP, $ntUninstall directories can be deleted without causing problems or causing previous updates to be reinstalled.

  • How can you know what drivers and programs are essential and those that can be deleted without harming my computer?

    Original title: completely clueless

    I'm totally clueless when it comes to computers, but I try very hard to learn. I am using the help section a LOT, but I can't seem to find an answer to the only thing that makes me crazy. How can you know what drivers and programs are essential and those that can be deleted without harming my computer? I have a very basic net accountant I learn on before I screw up a portable more expensive and I do a cleaning on my C and D drives to improve performance because it runs so slow but it tells me I have the drivers who slow down Windows. I would greatky appreciate any assistance from someone who has the patience of a saint and is willing to take the time to explain it to me, in terms laymans. Thanks in advance

    Drivers: you should know what you bought (in your machine) and what * you * want out of it.  If you want stability and things work properly - let alone the drivers.  If you want more performance check (and other games) in the drivers of motherboard chipset and video network from the manufacturers Web site... For more stability stick with the OEM website (HP, Dell, Lenovo - the assembler of the whole machine) and slightly more performance/push the limits (even if they want to work too - so still some stability) - access to websites of its components manufacturer.

    With regard to the programs: you can decide what you use and do not use.  If you are not sure, look it up (Google) or ask.
