  • Unable to run the Windows Installer Cleanup utility

My problem is that I can't run the Windows Install Cleanup Utility (WICU). I'm wanting to run what I install iTunes. I get an error that I don't have permissions to change the text. I can't uninstall the program as well because of this permissions error. I am the administrator and the only user of my laptop.

I also received the error that the program is not associated with file associations. Honestly I don't know what to do.

    Thanks for the reply.

  • Windows Installer Cleanup Utility cannot run because corrupt Microsoft installation Service

I can't get the Microsoft Installer Cleanup utility to run, I get an error message "the Microsoft Installer could not access the Service."  I tried re-registration of the service nothing is done.  I work on a customer's computer and can not get KB2467173 or Windows Live Essentials update, so I am unable to run internet explore in the standard 32-bit functionality.

I would avoid reinstalling Windows if possible.

Note: Windows Installer Cleanup utility is no longer supported and is not available via a Microsoft page.

Comment: If your client is in the habit of running "Registry cleaners", a clean installation of Windows will be your only recourse.

  • Problem with the Windows Installer Cleanup utility

I'm having a problem installing of a particular program, and told me to run the Windows Installer Cleanup utility.

I downloaded msicuu2.exe and when I ran, got a Windows Script Host window:

    Script: C:\Users\AppData\Local\Temp\IXP000. TMP\StartMsi.vbs
    Online: 17
    Char: 1
    Error: Permission denied
    Code: 800A 0046
    Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error

What that tells me, and what I (think I) do?

    Hi Ernest,

Try to run the Windows Installer Cleanup utility as administrator and check if that helps.

    To run as administrator

    1. right click on the .exe file

    2. Select run as administrator

Check if it works fine without any error message.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Windows Installer CleanUp utility has messed my windows?

I ran an installer which provides a plug-in, PluginA, for the program "ArcMap.exe. Later, I tried to remove this program, but it did not work. The problem seems to be a bug in the plugin installer.

I browsed the Internet and found the "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility 7.2" tool which I installed it.

I ran this utility and managed to remove the plug-in.

However I noticed that when I started Outlook, it had to be configured each time :-(.

    So I uninstalled the utility.

Then, I installed a plug-in for the program "ArcMap.exe", PluginB. This program installation, I know to be bug free.

However when I run ArcMap.exe it displays "Please wait while Windows configures PluginB" and this process never ends.

I tried to uninstall PluginB and it works, but I need to have installed PluginB.

Also, I always have the problem with the installer of windows running everytime I open Outlook.

It seems to me that "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility 7.2" screwed up my installation of Windows.

How can I fix it? Unfortunately I was not wise enough to have any system restore points useful.

    Thanks in advance for answers!

Microsoft had removed and abandoned the Windows Installer Cleanup utility several years ago.

    Click Start
Type: CMD, according to the results, right-click CMD
    Click on "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type: sfc/scannow

This will check for any breach of integrity

Why when I run the installer for Windows 8 consumer preview on my computer of Windows XP Home Edition he says: "this platform is not supported"?

You can see this message if you downloaded Windows 8 64-bit and XP 32-bit. To start the installation of Windows 8, you will need to restart and boot from the installation of Windows 8 media.

If you want to keep your current installation of Windows, you can install it on a separate partition and dual boot with the Windows 8 Preview of consumer. To install on a separate partition and dual boot, you must create and boot from the installation media.

    (1) first you will need a free partition on hard drive - if you do not you can shrink a partition and create a new one to install Windows 8 Preview of consumer on.
To reduce a partition and add a new one that you can use EASEUS Partition Master (free):
    http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm

    (2) to install on a separate disk, you can perform an installation DVD or USB key, then boot from it so you can choose the other partition. To download the ISO file and install media:
Download Windows 8 consumer Preview ISO:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-8/ISO
After you download the ISO file - use the Windows USB/DVD Download tool to install media:
    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

    (3) installation on a separate partition for dual boot:
1 make a DVD or USB installation drive - to see the two options above.
    2. start from the DVD or USB install drive and click on install when prompted.
    3. during the installation process, when asked - choose a custom installation.
    4. Select a free partition on the hard disk to install Windows 8 Preview of consumer - this will install Windows 8 on a separate instead of your current Windows partition partition.
    5 continue with the installation.

    First of all please note:
1 consumer preview Windows 8 is a pre-release and will only work for a limited time - when it expires, you need to remove it.
    2. the overview of consumption is stable and has been tested, but it s not the finished product. Your PC may crash and you may lose important files. You should backup your data and you shouldn't test Windows 8 Preview of consumers on your primary home or business PC.
    3. If you install the preview of consumption on the Windows partition is currently installed, you cannot uninstall the preview of consumption. To return to your previous version of Windows, you will need to reinstall from the recovery or installation media supplied with your PC.
    4. in addition to dual boot, here are a few methods to install Windows 8 Preview of consumers without affecting your current installation of Windows:
    (A) remove your current hard drive and install the Preview of consumers on a spare drive.
    (B) install it on a spare computer.
    (C) install the Preview of consumer in a virtual machine.

  • Windows Install CleanUp Utility

I would like to have a clarification on the Cleanup utility.
At the very beginning of the article, there is a caveat:

Warning The Windows Installer CleanUp utility is provided "as what" to help resolve installation problems for programs that use Microsoft Windows Installer. If you use this utility, you may have to reinstall other programs. Caution is recommended.

The "you may have to reinstall other programs" worries me.
    1. that means "perhaps"?
    2. How will I know what programs I need to reinstall?
It seems to be a risky business. Is it not?
Jumping from fire to the Pan?

    t-4-2

According to my experience with the program, it is best to use only if:
    1. you cannot uninstall the program using "normal means" (uninstaller comes up with an error, crashes, crashes).
    2. you can not install the program because Windows Installer says it's already installed, or another error has occurred.

I think that programs delete certain registry entries (as in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Installer) that are associated with the application that you are deleting. From my experience, it never broke anything with other programs. Note that the registry entries and files created by the application are not removed by "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" (only the information that the program is installed).
We can assume that this problem may occur if A program is removed using "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" and Installer (UN) B of the program somehow call program a Setup program.
Say, you have a Bluetooth software which contains the drivers and applications that are installed by using Windows Installer technology. You remove the drivers by using "Windows Installer CleanUp Utility" and then try to delete the application. The uninstall application program wants to first remove the drivers so she calls the Windows Installer to do this. But the Windows Installer engine is unable to do so because the 'Bluetooth' driver is no longer listed as an installed product. Thus, it returns an error to the uninstall of the application... which can also return an error.

Then I made a disk external drive bootable (SeaGate Backup more 1 TB), such as specified in How to run the Boot Camp on external drive?

Everything worked perfectly in cmd on my virtual Windows but when I reboot mac and hold option it gives me only the option to start in Macintosh HD.  No hard recovery or Windows bootable external drive.

When I open the boot on my Mac drive, it gives me the opportunity to put my boot drive by default as the external to Windows without title or my Macintosh HD hard drive, but when I select windows as my default and reboot, it starts with a black screen that says "no boot device - insert the boot device and press a key.

Is this a problem with my external hard drive formatting or a problem with the start on Mac?

Others may have a more informed response, but

I think that there are some drivers that need to load for the computer to recognize an external drive

  • Need new hard drive, but have not the disks in Windows 7 OS

Recently, I had some problems with my PC and was able to restore the factory settings.  Now it seems that my hard drive is bad and needs to be replaced.  I have a HP G71-449WM model, produces WA606UA.

Will it also find Windows 7 OS disks somewhere?  I didn't need one when I did the restore to factory.

It's the hard drive, which I intend to purchase:

    http://www.Amazon.com/Toshiba-5400rpm-replacement-G71-449WM-WA606UA/DP/B00JRLAYMW/ref=sr_1_2?s=elect...

    Hello

First of all, the HARD drive in your link is fine, even if you can consider a slightly faster (7200 RPM) - for example, either of the drives on the following links would be very well for your laptop.

    Hard drive 500 GB

    750 GB hard drive.

The procedure to replace the hard drive begins on Page 64 of your & Maintenance Guide.

    ***************************************************

Regarding the reinstallation of the operating system on the new drive, there are two options available.

    1. you can order a set of replacement recovery disks using the link below - it will reinstall the operating system, all the drivers, and almost all of the original software (the exception being often tests of MS Office).  They will also recreate all of the original scores, including the recovery Partition.

    Order HP recovery disks.

2 another option that you might consider is to create your own Windows 7 installation disc.

Before you try the following, make sure that you can always read the character product activation key 25 on your label Windows COA (5 blocks of 5 alphanumeric games).

An example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the Disk Image correct ( this must be the same version that originally came with your laptop - it is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit ) from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn ( Note: you can deselect additional software during installation of ImgBurn offerings) to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  The source of the Windows Image is Digital River.

    Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit SP1.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

You may need, additional drivers and software are here.

How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

You can also make recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their way of doing recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
