Run the program inside the virtual machine

How can I run executable program in the VM using java api

Post below can help you to do the same thing:

VIX API are integrated with vSphere API

Please Explorer:, Kill and Run list of programs in the guest on VMware operating system | DoubleCloud = & gt; Private cloud and Public Cloud

Run the program in the guest on VMware operating system | DoubleCloud = & gt; Private cloud and Public Cloud

When you run a VM guest in headless mode I can't use vmrun to get IP clients. If I eventually bring to the top/start the merger GUI, the command returns the IP address as planned. It is always reproducible.

    $ vmrun -T fusion start "path/to/MyVMs.vmx" nogui

I tested with open-vm-tools and tools VMware packaged with the merger and the behavior is the same. I also spoke with others on the channel of freenode #vmware who have confirmed that the problem exists for users of workstation as well.

    Hi danandham,

Welcome in the vmware community. Iyou s really a problem, we try to fix it.

After a command, you can use as a workaround:

    vmrun t fusion getGuestIPAddress "path/to/MyVMs.vmx" - wait

  • Run the virtual machine on the SSD or external HARD drive

    Hi all

For school I need a large number of virtual machines. In total, I have about 140 GB of VM. And with a total of 250 GB of SSD on my macbook pro, which is for many.

If I want to move my VM on an external hard drive.

My question is what is the best type of external hard drive that I can get.

It's a normal with a thunderbolt connection HARD drive or an external hard drive SSD with USB 3.0 connection.

Who is the fastest, and I see a lot of delay compared to my normal internal drive of the SSD.

I don't want a disc HARD normal 3.0, it may slow down the VM to a large part.

    Hello

If you ask a normal hard drive vs SSD then the SSD will win anytime, regardless of the USB3 or love at first sight.

An SSD using thunderbolt would be preferable, but I don't know if they are easy to find.

The advantage of having a via USB3 SSD, is that the disc is easy to use also other non-apple machines.

An SSD in USB3 should work fine however.

    Side note:

As you have an external connection there is a risk of the drive is disconnected/offline when you use the virtual machine. This can cause whatever it is the corruption of data to have a virtual machine that is completely missing. So if this is going to be your Setup program then make sure to make regular backups of these virtual machines to another disk.

  • Possible to run the virtual machine created in a lower version of higher on lower esx esx

Hi everyone tried to run vm created in esx 4.1 with vcentre 4.1 on lower versison of vcentre esx 3.5 2.5?

    Thanks for any comments

You can change the material versions FRO 7 to 4 assuming that it is a hardware VM version 7 If you have VMware Workstation there is a conversion wizard that can change the version of hardware for you.

  • An error occurred during the restoration of the virtual machine

    Hello world

I pause my vmware and when I try to restore it I have this error

    «An error occurred in restoring the State of the virtual machine files "C:\Users\Asus\Documents\Virtual Machines\Windows Server 2008 R2 x64\Windows Server 2008 R2 x 64 - acc901af.vmss»»

    Thank you

My suggestion would be to remove the State Suspended (.vmss) of the Virtual Machine file.  Note that the removal of the waking state has the same effect as when you perform a hard reset of the virtual machine, or by pushing the reset button on a physical computer, in that all data in unsaved open applications is lost!  However if the virtual machine resume so I don't see any other choice to try to run the Virtual Machine.

  • Can I register the Virtual Machine of VMware player esxi 4 4.1?

    Hi all

There are a few virtual machines running in VMware player version 4, now I need to migrate on ESXi 4.1...

It's Possible he just copy and past the files of virtual machines running in vmware player in the data store then register the same in the esxi server and power on... This will not work?

because I do not V2V method...

    With respect,

    Pascale Vimal

You run the virtual machine on HW 8, that you will not be able to simply move the ESXi machine.

The only supported option is to do a conversion on reviews of downgrade the material relating to immigration to vSphere

  • Unable to start the virtual machine after failing to remove the snapshot

Recently, I tried to delete a snapshot on a Windows XP virtual machine in VMware server 2.0. After a few minutes, the operation has failed, then the GUI crashed. I was not able to manage one of my virtual machines until I rebooted the server. My other virtual machines still work fine. I can't just run the virtual machine on which I tried to remove the snapshot. This virtual machine is very important to me and I would try to get it back. Does anyone have advice? Also, I upgraded this version of VMware server 1.x to 2.x, so please let me know if this may have something to do with this problem. Thanks in advance.

An additional note. If the virtual machine starts, I suggest that you run chkdsk, just to make sure that there are no problems with the file system of the client.

  • Could not open the virtual machine

I used the customer convertor to create this virtual machine from one which works well on ESxi.  When I try to open on Win7-64 machines running vmplayer 3.1.4 I get the following error:

    Could not open the virtual machine: file "D:\Data\VM Machines\WW S2008_32\WW S2008_32.vmx 10_1 10_1" line 1: syntax error.

    Any ideas?

"" "WW 10_1 S2008_32.vmx.zip" attached file contains the "WW 10_1 S2008_32.vmx" file created under VMware Player 3.1.4 and was then modified to reflect the values of parameter that you might want to stay the same as uuid etc.  Start VMware Player and then check the settings before running the virtual machine.

  • Import the virtual machine created with .exe files

    Hello

I'm new in the world of the virtual machines, and I'm sorry if I'm going to say something stupid.

I take a .net class and the teacher has a virtual machine (windows XP with software) ready to pose with 4 .exe files.

I installed VMfusion but now I have no idea how / if I can import the teacher VM fusion.

Is this possible? If this is not the case, what can I do else?

    Thank you very much

    Luca

Find a Windows PC and run the exe files to extract the virtual machine, precompiled.  Just copy the folder of the entire virtual machine on your Mac, and then open/run the virtual machine using the merger.  VMware virtual machines are portable between products and host operating system - there should be no reason to "convert" or "import".

  • To access the virtual machines of two different hosts

    Greetings,

I have a question that I can't find the answer to. I am setting up a virtual machine environment small and need to better understand the architecture behind it.

    2 host servers

    1 iSCSI Equallogic San (target)

I have installed 35i ESX and runnning on two physical hosts. .205 et.206

I created a data store on my SAN to host my 'model' VM.

De.205, I can see the data on the SAN network store and browse the virtual machine I (using VMConverter) moved there.

De.206, I can see the data store on the SAN, but when I sail, I do not see the same information. I see no. VM.

MY understanding is that using the SAN to store the virtual machine and that I would make the hosts of this data store to run the virtual machine. But the way in which it seems that I have the virtual machine configured on both hosts, always pointing the data store on the San but again using converter, copy de.205 vers.206.

What don't understand me or that I don't understand.

    Your help is appreciated.

Welcome to the VMware community forums.   If you have configured things Ok, you will be able to browse the data from these two hosts store and see the same content.  You can register the virtual computers on both hosts.  For an existing VM on the host from 1, you find the data on the host of the 2nd store, right-click on the VMX file and select Add to the inventory.  Have you thought to vcenter server?  It's going to do it is a lot easier.

  • Run the script inside the virtual machine the user when the user connects or reconnects

    Hello

is it possible to detect the user that the user has connected or reconnected to his office inside the virtual machine and run a script?

It is also possible within the VM user to determine if the user is connected and how long?

One way to do this is via the following powershell command, but this only works if the user is connected through PCoIP Protocol.

    Get-WmiObject-class Win32_PerfRawData_TeradiciPerf_PCoIPSessionGeneralStatistics - SessionDurationSeconds property

    Best regards

    > it is possible to detect the user that the user has connected either reconnected to his office inside the virtual machine and run a script?

You can run scripts as user on login and reconnect, this has been a feature since 3.0. See running commands on the desktop view.

    > It is possible inside the VM user to determine if the user is connected and how long?

I don't think that we expose, but you should be able to query Windows for the connection time, or you could write the last time to connect with a script (maybe that is the reason for your first question?).

  • Database SQL vCenter that is running on the virtual machine within vsphere

Hey guys, I was wondering how many of you are running your database remote vcenter on a virtual machine inside your vsphere environment? We always ran the vcenter db on a physical remote outside the vsphere group box, but I am considering the upgrade to sql 2008 R2 and I already have a virtual sql server computer running within vsphere.

Pro/drawbacks to be aware of the db running on a virtual machine?

    Thanks in advance

    Kevin

We rotated our SQL database in a VM for a while now.

Some advantages are for example the wide use of HA and the ability to easily extend if necessary resources. In addition, if you use backup as Veeam software a restore takes only a few minutes from a physical configuration.

There are a few things when you have to keep in mind:

-Make sure that your SQL VM database begins before your vCenter (the service does not start if it cannot reach the database), even if it can be fixed manually it might be something you want to keep in mind

-If you use the distributed switches power risk since data is stored in the database, of course there are solutions for this (keep the traffic on a standard switch management)

-If you use HA make sure you modify the priority of restarting HA for the virtual machine (you don't want a reboot suddenly)

  • Call recording on the virtual machine running on Cisco UCS

We evaluate the requirements for implementing call recording in our environment. Ideally the call recording server to run as a virtual machine on an ESXi host running like a blade on a Cisco UCS. I know that I need to set up RSPAN between my physical switches and turn the "Promiscuous" mode on my vSwitch which would be connected to the virtual machine. Where I'm stuck, how the NETWORK adapter that is connected to my vSwitch would be able to sniff this traffic? Are there requirements when I implemented the vNIC on the UCS or VMWare or under the physical being connected to the span port card desired traffic will get to my VM as a controlled traffic?

    Thank you.

No we are not running Cisco UCM. We have a 3rd party VOIP solution. I think I got the answer I need... we need to order a series C for our UCS Server manage the recording of calls.

    Thank you.
