  -then click on settings and display settings under (first tab) you must clear the use hardware acceleration

  This has nothing to do with the display driver, but with the connection.
  The VGA port should be used to connect the external TFT and not the TV monitor
  But have you used the option of FN + F5 to switch between screens devices?

  I used VMware Player to create a RHEL 5.5 on Windows 7 host. The resulting virtual machine has a screen 1440 x 900, but when I run the screen is 800 x 600.   I tried refreshing browser/reinstall/start without Add-ons.
  I have same fresh windows stock for it.

  I knew this problem myself and managed to find this solution by searching the forums.

  Right-click on the icon of your Firefox (not the one of your task bar), if it is not on your desktop, find it in Mozilla Firefox program folder.

  After that right click, select Properties, then the Compatibility tab, then check the box that says that turn off the timing of the high DPI settings display.
