Safely remove the device with VISTA is not infallible

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline nine running Vista.

I plug a USB key or an external hard drive and it reads very well.

I have try the safely eject button, and the light on my memory stick stays on. With XP, it came out, and I knew that I could remove the stick. It goes the same for my external hard drive... Done, I could hear that he stop and watch out slight shift when I used the feature of MATERIAL in any SAFETY REMOVE (SRH) of XP.

Not the case with VISTA. After completing the SRH steps, these devices always seem to be on.

I read that Vista not turn off light after things are ejected... is - it true?
Any suggestions?

Are there any patches or downloadable patches?

Hello walden1,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Community Forum.

The only time where SRH did not finish is when there is an application or a service that is always access the drive somehow.  I fyou're sure there is no transfer, then you can disconnect with the safety of the food.  themajin concern is when access to the data or transfer is underway.

-J' read that Vista not turn off light after things are ejected... is - it true?
It has been my experience that it's false.  Once ejected, using SRH or not the light turns off and the player is uninstalled.  Now, if you use memory for ready boost of course light remains lit and SRH still not eject it.  So maybe it's somehting that you'll want to check.  If your right click the drive in the Solution Explorer, then select properties the last tab should be the tab ready boost and you can switch if and how much of the training will be used for this.

Thank you
Jonathan

I would like to know if someone has problems with delete material it and eject the media safely? When when I move the mouse over the icon it reads safely remove hardware and eject the media, but when I click the icon, nothing happens. I don't want to corrupt my external hard drive by pulling out the plug. Any ideas?

If you're not pushing the drive for all the possible performance it can give, you can disable the write cache and you won't need to use 'remove hardware safely' after it.  To change it, open Device Manager and expand the section hard drives.  Find the drive click the right button and select "Properties".  Under the "policies" tab, you will see two choices - 'quick release' and 'best performance' - with explanations for each.  As you will see in the explanations, if you select "quick withdrawal" you can simply disconnect the device at any time without going through the routine 'remove hardware safely '.

after syncing my ipod, I can remove my ipod from itunes.  However, I can't remove ipod from windows xp by using the feature remove the device safely to the toolbar.    I click on the safely remove, the process can not pass with only sand standing clock sign.

When I ignore it and remove the ipod to the usb port.  a yellow exclamation point is next to the apple ipod usb device in device management.  Later, when I close the pc,

He cannot close normally, I shoud reset cp and restart and then shut up.

What can I do? is this problem related to my windows system or linked to my ipod.  I have try this ipod with some computers, problem solved, then with some computers not.

  • How to remove the device when the icon is not present in the taskbar

When I attach material to my laptop the software always removal icon in the bar spots.  When I already have the material to be fixed at a fresh start it is not displayed.  Should I go somewhere in the Panel to uncheck and check always show?  Where can I find the menu for this view?  How can I delete a material without the icon, or how always to get the icon appears?

Here is an article I found via Google:

    (1) with a USB stick inserted, right-click on the drive in 'My computer' and select 'Properties' then 'material '.
    2) click on your equipment in the list and select 'Properties' again.
(Alternatively you can double-click the disk in Control Panel > system properties > Device Manager > hard drives)
    3) click on 'policies '. Normally, the "Optimize for quick removal" button will be active - but do not change it. Instead click on the link "Remove the device safely" to "optimize for performance".
    (4) new, select your hardware and click on "Stop". Click on 'OK '. This will stop your material and it can now be removed. This is a work around the missing icon, but you do not make more than once - the icon 'Remove hardware safely' should now appear normally in the Notification area whenever ANY removable device is reinserted - hopefully for good.
    (5) ensure that the icon is not hidden in "Customize the Notifications" as described above. This worked for a USB (USB key) under XP flash drive but could work for other removable devices as well. (for example use this procedure with a USB key to fix the missing icon for removable CD / DVD drive on your laptop)
    (6) take a look at any software download that installed applications of connectivity as part of the package for example iTunes, Ovi Player. Uninstall (Add/Remove Programs), and then reinstall (extract from the web site) and re - simply enter your account details. Clear any corruption with these can bring back the USB support.
    (7) another possible reason for losing the icon is the TCP/IP stack is corrupted and needs to reset. Search Microsoft for their utility to achieve this. He is quite on the web (very painless).

It seems that your user profile is damaged, so these steps may or may not help. You scanned for viruses or other malicious software recently? Did you program updates could cause this behavior?

Have you tried a system restore to a point before you started having this problem? Or if it came from a good time?

My hard drive is currently filled by PC DM files in my folder/Public user folder.  How can I safely remove the right files in this folder?  Vista Home Premium 64 bit is my os.

    Hi templar_39,

DM (Message Delivery) file types are not Windows files, they can be generated by a third-party program.

This particular file type is often associated with audio data and can be hosted on some cell phones to be used as ringtones or multimedia clips. To my knowledge, these files can be generated by your mobile phone.

Note: you can go ahead and remove these files only if you notice that the files do not contain any important information.

If this happens without connect you all devices (like mobile PHONES), this may be a virus or malware activity. You can run a virus scan to get rid of them

Step 1: A scanner online for any threat and try to correct

  • My laptop Sony VAIO with Vista will not connect and stay connected to my wireless internet.

My laptop Sony VAIO with Vista will not connect and stay connected to my wireless internet.  All other laptops in the House are perfectly.  Internet disconnects, says local only, then reconnects constantly making internet hard work.

    Hi Tinkerbellfancolorado,

    1. When is this last work fine?
    2. Do you receive an error message or error codes?
    3. Recent changes on the computer?

There could be several causes for this problem.

    Try starting with these methods.

    Method 1

    Step 1

    1. Open Network Diagnostics by right-clicking the network icon in the notification area, and then click diagnose and repair.
    2. Make sure that all cables are connected (for example, make sure that your modem is connected to a working jack or cable phone connection, either directly or through a router).
    3. Reset your modem and router. Remove the power cord from the modem or router, wait at least 10 seconds, then plug in the modem and/or router back.

    Step 2

Another reason may be windows disable your network adapter to save power. Turn off the power saving option in the properties of the network (wired network only cards) card:

    1. Open network connections by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking network and Internet, click network and sharing Center, and then clicking manage network connections.
    2. Right-click on the connection and then click Properties. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    3. On the Networking tab, click Configure.
    4. On the power management tab, clear the allow the computer to turn off this device to save power option, and then click OK.

    Method 2

Temporarily disable the firewall, and check the status.

NOTE: To re-enable the firewall after check you the status. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your /firewall antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

  • Satellite L750-A218 - how easily / safely remove the MMC card

    Hello

I just tried the MMS and inserted a MMC console.
I have a question now. After eject devices.

How to remove it properly. I tried pushing gently so that it would make the ticking and make out but that has not worked. I didn't force and ruin the slot. I can get out, but I have to raise the laptop.
On the user manual. Those are the steps for removal:

    1. open the icon remove the device safely and eject media on the Windows taskbar.
    2. tap media memory and click on the left Touch Pad button.
    3. Enter the media up and out of the computer to remove it.

I have not quite step 2. Please explain to me how easily / safely remove the MMC on this laptop.
Also, tell me if pushing the MMC will be out or not.

    Hello

What card insert you? MMC (MultiMediaCard)?
Usually you will need to enter the card and pull it out of the computer s slot to remove the media but when you insert the support of memory in the wrong direction, you will not be able to remove

    > I have not quite step 2. Please explain to me how easily / safely remove the MMC on this laptop.
In most cases the task bar contains a small icon showing that the media card is inserted...
We must therefore stop this read/write process before removing the card...
