  Get rid of the "^" at the beginning of your regular expression. You are ordering him to find the model at the beginning of the string.

  I use 'Authentication Port' on my PowerConnect 2848 switch, the RADIUS server is Windows Server 2008 R2.

  The question is, what is the password to the 2848 sent to the RADIUS server in this situation, use a password that is preconfigured for all authentications of MAC? or it uses the MAC address as password in addition to the user name field?

  From my understanding when it is set to 802.1 x & Mac port must first check the device to be compliant, 802. 1 x if it is not then it will try to authenticate using the MAC of a device as the user name and the password. If the MAC address has been placed in the RADIUS database, then it will be able to authenticate.

  I'm trying to create a script which will create x number of VMs, enter the mac address of the NETWORK adapter on the newly created virtual e1000 computer and then add it to a CSV file.  When I run my script, I get an error "property"macaddress"is not found on this object; Make sure that there is and can be defined.

  You can adjust the code of Luke a little so that it exports the original info as well as the MAC address.  It would be something like:

  Who uses the Add-Member cmdlet to add a NoteProperty in the original news and fills then each 'line' with the corresponding MAC address information.  It is in fact setting a value for the "macaddress" for the given custom object property.  It exports then all the info to the "outputfile".

  This isn't just normal? Just today I upgraded to VC4.0 to be able to deploy my new servers based on findings on this forum. And no matter if I change the Machintype Vista x 64 or elsewhere Vista32 (what is wrong of course). Any other gopt experience with this?

  There should be no need to upgrade to vCenter4 just to be able to customize a W2K8 Guest.  We vCenter 2.5 and have no problem.

  I am very new to VM and unfortunately am responsible for getting ESX4 vSphere4 running on a slide in our chassis HP C3000. So, I installed vSphere4 and encountered some difficulties. First of all, there are four available within the chassis NIC (2 built-in, 2 via a mezzanine card)

  I have configured the Service Console with an IP address in the subnet that the NETWORK card is attached to (10.100.1.180) and the strange thing is that from the ESX console I ping some IP addresses on the same subnet as 10.100.1.105 we are going to say, but not 10.100.1.50. ICMP is enabled on devices, so it is not a firewall simply disabling echo answers.

  I think that it probably has to do with the configuration of your circuit.  I use Virtual Connect modules, but if I read right then GbE2c modules are leaving entire switches.  In this case, I'm guessing that you have shared resources on GbE2c ports modules.  If Yes, then you MUST use IP balancing hash.  It is not intuitive, but here the rule of load balancing:

  If the switch can use any port in the trunk to return data to the virtual computer, you MUST set the hash IP load balancer.

  If the switch will not only associate one active port in the trunk with the MAC address of the computer virtual both (based on the configuration of your switch load balancing), then you SHOULD NOT Load Balancing IP hash value.

  So, try setting the hash IP balancing and let me know.

  a client needs to keep the same MAC address for a virtual computer in its vCenter to import into his org in vCD.

  Because this server has an application and that its license is tied to the MAC address, they must keep the original MAC address. I know that I can make this request on vCenter, but not through vCD.

  I had this VM running Mitel Linux running an application of Mitel has his registered MAC address with Mitel licenses offers.  The application of Mitel is password forgotten and unfortunately the only way to recover is to reinstall the operating system.  I created a new virtual Linux of Mitel machine, but the software license will not let me register because he sees a different MAC address.  I tried to change the MAC address of the second installation to match the original installation.  Unfortunately, it is out of the range of 00:50:56:3f: ff: ff and I wonder if there is an easy way to force him to go any further?

  PS: Some of you are probably thinking why not simply call Mitel and ask to reset the MAC address in their books?  Well truth is Mitel did not believe in VMware and refuses to help us if we run VMware (F.U.D).

  As far as I know, there is no way to put the MAC outside the range configured ESX.

  HM?  As far as I know, we have not added any restrictions.  We do not provide a user interface for it, but manually modifying the .vmx file and change ethernet0.addressType and ethernet0.address to a MAC from another provider address seem to work for me.

  I don't think the static MAC addresses are actually limited to the 00:50:56 range.

  This could be a simple thing to do, but I can't get there

  So I need to make a mac address with semicolons. Initially, the address is divided into two parts.

  First of all the constant C87248 and the second part as a number running for part of the 0 appr. 16000000

  The result should look like this C8:72:48:00:00:00

  Use in teststand 3.5 the .vi.

  Running number is an input parameter and .vi must return the string mac address so that teststand could read.

  These hex conversions in labview drives crazy me. I am able to convert the address format

  4800 0000 C872 but I can't reformat as I want.

  This should do it, although it's probably not the most efficient way.

  If you are using 802.1 x or mac filtering, the username of the device is used as the mac address, or calling-station-id, the time that you will see only the mac address is when you make web local auth with external authentication to the ACS. Also for users of vpn, you see this and also in terms of auth-proxy.

  For WLC and dot1x mac address is always used for the calling-station-id.
