  Apple gives these instructions:

  OS X Mavericks: remove a user

  If you are an administrator, you can remove users that you would no longer have access to your Mac.

  When you delete a user, you can save the home folder of the user, which contains the files and the settings of the user, or delete the folder.

  Open the preferences users and groups, and then click the lock icon to unlock it. If required, type your password, and then click on unlock.

  To answer your question, no, you can not delete the account if you are not admin. You try to delete the account to become the sole Director of the computer? If so, everything will always be linked to his Apple ID and will require a password to authenticate anything. If this is the case, you must wipe the drive and reinstall the OS using internet recovery.

• How can I get my old iMac Mavericks on my new computer El Capitan iPhoto?

  I'm an amateur photo with literally thousands of photos of scenic and nature, all labeled with keywords and manually marked locations (since my DSLR is not an internal GPS and therefore cannot automatically geotag photos) in iPhoto on our old computer that runs on the Mavericks. Recently, we bought a new iMac that runs on El Capitan, and when we moved my data from the old computer, all of my iPhoto library moved into Photos. Unfortunately, because the pictures does not support the manual tagging locations, all hours of work I put in dropping the pins on maps to show the exact location where all my photos have been taken has disappeared. Enter Photos and keywords to adapt to all of the States, cities and specific locations where these pictures were taken just is not practical; my list of keywords would get horribly difficult to handle, and a good number of these photos were taken in "one-of-a-kind" tasks because they were taken on the fly from a moving vehicle. And that is not even taking into consideration all overtime work that would result. There must be someone out there who is dealing with the frustration of having to deal with a system that was designed for the casual snapshot-takers rather than serious photo enthusiasts! I still have the old computer with iPhoto installed on it and all the photos that I put in it until we bought the new computer. Is it possible that I can get the old computer to the new iPhoto? Can I put it on an external drive or DVD and copy it to the El Cap computer as iPhoto, or will it simply push all in Photos or choke and gag on that? I continue to work with my photos in iPhoto on your old computer, and I hope that he does not die in the near future? (And while we're at it, has any outside me informed Apple photos how bad works for those who need features in iPhoto that does not get incorporated in the Photos? • Change the directory list "scan to" in the HP Director on iMac (Mavericks)

  I have an HP CM1312 MFP running on an iMac with the Mavericks.

  When you install the HP Director, at some point, the software takes over and says "installation with default settings" or similar, and then it's over.

  The resulting, program prints and scans correctly. However, I want to set up a destination for scanning to file option.

  When using the scan to file option there is no option to add destinations - there is a very limited choice (of memory just Documents and desktop).

  I have a folder called "scans" on my desktop and would like to add this destination in the drop-down list box "Scan to file."

  Is this possible and if so, how?

• Freshly installed from PC to iMac-Mavericks and Tbird now hangs when I try to access the address books.

  When you enter an e-mail address, Tbird apparently check address books because it gives me a list of possible recipients as I enter the name. But when I click the icon from the address book to enter to make a change or a new entry, I get an error saying: Tbird has encountered a problem and crashed. My options are to stop or restart Tbird. When restart all is well again.

  I just moved my email, address books, etc. for an iMac (first time on such a machine) and thought I had put all moved according to the instructions, but apparently done something wrong.

  Tried all above, but no change. I do not understand the error messages so did some research on Google and find how to go to Finder > go > computer > Alt - Go library > Thunderbird > profile > global-messages - db.squite

  and folder global-messages - removed db.squite and Thunderbird then re - indexes all emails that it sorted. Thus, global research and then now I looking for specific folder as well as the quick filter research more research in Edit.

  I've just costed a Seagate EHD connected by USB to my iMac (Mavericks). Once I (right) - clicked the 'encryption' option, then appeared without 'window' to inform me of the "work-in-progress", or nothing at all... so I wonder if the encryption is real; If it is passed? How so fast?

  Of course, I see that once eject the EHD, then reinsert, I am (in a reassuring tone) need to enter my password to allow access to the disk.

  But? Since it took almost (it seems) no time to the iMac encrypt the drive, then... assuming that someone warned with "content recovery disc" open breeze drive, allows to bypass the password and extracts of my data from the 'internals' drive (which, the content I theorize, were not really encrypted at all)?

  Am I missing something?

  Encryption occurs in the background.  You can use the computer and the disc while it is being encryption (although access to this drive may be slower due to the extra IO happening when it is being encryption).  Device drivers maintain high waters"during the encryption that tells the driver if a read or write request is part of the disc below the (already encrypted) or higher (not encrypted), and the device driver did the right thing, making the task of encryption sincerely on your read/write the middle of it.

  Because a high water line is used, if the disc is ejected until encryption is finished, ONLY the already encrypted data are safe.  The disk must finish the encryption before all your data is secure.  When the drive is reassembled, device drivers should automatically continue moving high tide to finish the encryption.

  I don't know what GUI will indicate you the progression of the encryption, but this Terminal command is supposed to provide status

  coreStorage/usr/sbin/diskutil list

  There should be a section of the form

  |	Encryption type:	AES - XTS
  |	Encryption status:	Unlocked
  |	The conversion status:	All the
  |	Applications of high level:	Completely secure

  that should tell you the State of encryption.  In my case, my encryption is "complete".  If you have multiple disks, you will understand what entry is associated with your DHM

  Once the disc is encrypted, the password cannot be bypassed.  If you have forgotten your password, your data is lost, unless your password is so trivial that it can be guessed or brute forced to discover.  See <https://www.grc.com/haystack.htm> for more information on the length of the password necessary to avoid brute force attacks.

  I finally got my H470 prints on iMAC, mavericks. However, it prints in black and white; the manual suggests going to the library and running the HP utility, but there is not a HP folder in the library/printers folder (it is for my other printers).

  * Be aware that reset the printer system will eliminate any existing queue and reset all custom settings driver.

  Click on the Apple menu and then click on System Preferences.

  iMac Mavericks 10.9.4, 16 GB memory running.  Launch After Effects product "After Effects WARNING: cannot create the file ' / users/mBook/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/13.0/dummy.  Similar problem with Media Encoder.  Uninstalled both, removed the preferences of After Effects, re-downloaded and installed software with reboot between each step.

  In the last five days, I spent all my time trying to figure out how to download my CS3 software on my new iMac (Maverick is supposed to work with the CS3 version). I made the mistake of changing my e-mail address and now Adobe sent me message that "license for this product has stopped working". Adobe told me that I can not register it because it has already been registered. I'm changing my e-mail address to what was before, so it would be recognized that the software was purchased by me, but the system, I cannot change my email address. I'm told repeatedly that the account of evolution could not be saved. Working with Photoshop since 1993 and have never previously contacted for some reason any. It's a big surprise that lheir of the customer service is non-existent and for such a simple question I just wasting a lot of time!

  What do you hope to achieve by registering again? That makes no sense at all. Similarly, the rest is meaningless. Activation for legacy versions does not require an e-mail address. Whatever you have questions have other causes, but your info is simply wave, no sense of it.

  Using Photoshop elements 11 on my iMac Maverick, I'm trying to create color borders around the photos of work I've created, but selection/change/borders options are grayed out. Can someone please tell me why and how can I bring it use please? If not, is there another way to create other boundaries using the rectangle and filling in the selection. I find it not quite accurate.
