SATA-300 in DV6000

Can I install a sata-300 2.5 hd in my dv6000 running a sata-150 hd right now? And if - what is the best choice according to the working temperature?

You are looking for something around 250-320 GB

You'll be fine with any SATA (I have gen or gen II) laptop drive up to 320 GB. There is no size limit of motherboard on the SATA drives (it's something IDE only) but some HPs don't seem to do not like 500 gig drives. 7200 RPM drives have been problematic, too sometimes. He is sure to get a drive 5400 RPM 320 GB. Heat is not really a problem as new readers run much cooler than a few years ago.

    Hello

I intend to change my current HITACHI 5K 320 320 HARD drive (HTS543232L9SA00), which is SATA I (* SATA-150 *) on the new HARD drive, but I can't find all the information my Toshiba Satellite R630-146 will support the new SATA II (* SATA-300 *) HARD drive.

Maybe someone has any ideas where I could find this information?

    Hello

I m sure that SATA II hard disks are supported.
The fact is that the laptop supports the SATA controller and SATA II is down-compatible with SATA I. So it shouldn't be a big problem with the SATA II HARD drive, even if the controller would be SATA I

Can someone tell me if I need a SATA-150 or SATA-300 drive to upgrade my A200-196.
I think that the current drive of 80 Go SATA-300 but my diagnostic tool (third party) indicates the maximum speed is 150.

Great info by the way. I found the info also, that the controller supports only SATA-150.

  • 600 SATA or SATA 300 to replace hard drive for CTOs dv6-3100

    Hello

My laptop has been giving a "SMART test failed" message for the past few days and I have copied all the data on my external hard drive. My current hard drive is a Samsung HM640JJ. I noticed that there are SATA-300 interface. I think of buying:

This WD drive has a SATA-600 interface. Will this work in my laptop?

    Thank you!

    Anand

    Hi Anand

SATA III drives will give you only the 6 GB/s speeds in laptops which have motherboards that support, otherwise only default to 3 Gb/s drive. But it will certainly work with a slight increase in performance for your laptop. WD Black you have chosen is a good.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6140us w/Hitachi 640 GB SATA / 300 5400 RPM 8 MB 2.5 "HDD

I have the possibility to replace the hard drive on my laptop dv6-6140, under Windows7 Home Premium 64-bit, as I'm smart errors, 301, 303 & 305. I have a chance to buy a Hitachi Travelstar 5 K 750 HTS547575A9E384 - disk hard - 750 GB - SATA-300 for the same price for a replacement of 640GO. My Question is; the picture I did of the 640 GB HDD will be able to load the new 750 GB drive or should I stay on the same size drive, on which the image was made?

    Thank you

    Hello

You should be fine with the HARD drive that you mention - as a general rule, the disks of the same capacity or more will be Ok.

You only usually managed in the problem when you use HP Recovery Meda on disks with a capacity smaller than the original.

  • Need to replace the hard drive. Use Toshiba MK3265GSX or MK3265GSX SATA 300?

HP laptop G72.  Windows 7 64 - bit, "Smart drive Imminent failure".  No changes to the system; updates only at HP.

Should I replace with Toshiba MK3265GSX 320 GB 2.5 "HDD internal or should I replace with a Toshiba MK3265GSX SATA 300 5400 RPM 8 MB 2.5" hard drive. Which is better and more reliable?

    Thank you, Michael Donovan

They are not the same thing? In fact I would not either. I would get a disk 7200 RPM with a cache of 16 meg as the WD Scorpio Black or the Seagate Momentus 7200 Series

For a few dollars more, you get much better faster start of performance, etc. Don't let someone convince you that heat is a problem on the disks of 7200 RPM... models current barely use any what juice more than 5400 rpm and produce almost no additional heat. If money was no object I can not also say too many good things about what will make an SSD for you.

  • Size of hard drive bay for Thinkpad Edge E430? and vs SATA 300 600

I'm looking to get a bigger hard drive for my Thinkpad Edge E430, and I have two questions.

The current drive is a Toshiba MK5061GSY - SATA 300. This is 0.4 inches high. I'm looking at a WD Green WD20NPVX - SATA 600. It is high 0.6inches.

    1. What size is the HARD drive Bay? Fits in a drive that is 0.6 inches in height?
    2. A disk SATA 600 is backward compatible with SATA-300 port?

    Thank you.

Ivy Bridge CPU in the E430 supports SATAIII (6 Gb/s) for the main hard drive and the optical drive Bay.

The height of the E430 hard drive Bay suitable for 7 and 9.5 mm (do not know what this amounts to in inches).

  • Then an IdeaPad S10 manage a SATA 300 HD?

I dropped my Ideapad at Christmas and who seems to have seriously damaged the HD.

I can see this drive is a WD 160 GB SATA - 150 HD-, but because the SATA-300 discs are cheaper, I would like to put one of those in place.

I am aware that I can get a SATA-150 disc speed - but will it work at all?

    Hello and welcome...

You can use all 2.5 "Sata HDD with high 9.5 mm up to 640 GB (or more) when the trays with 9.5 mm height is available... they have same speed max sata-300, you get the Sata - 150 chipset due speed limits in all netbooks (another way to brands, so it is not limited by lenovo)...

  • Satellite M70-340 does support SATA 300 MB/s?

I want to replace the original with MK1237GSX MK6034GSX hard drive. The difference is 150 and 300 MB/s transfer rate. will be mk1237gsx works with my M70?

    Hello

The Satellite M70-340 was delivered with the 60 GB SATA 5400 RPM HARD drive.
I don't think that the speed of the HARD drive could have a bad influence on the compatibility of the HARD drive.

You must only make sure that the size of the HARD drive and the interface are supported!

    Best regards

  • Satellite A200 - 1 GB does support SATA 300 HARD drive?

I want to spend my Sat A200 - 1 GB hard disk with a 7200 RPM one... but they are all SATA300 models.
Is this speed mode supported by the bios, motherboard and sata controller of this laptop?

I just want to be sure that the hard drive works at its maximum speed capability and the sata and the mobo will not be a bottleneck...

If Yes, the sata controller driver whichsis?... I want this wake in my own vista installation disc.

    Hello!

Yes, you can use a disk with SATA300 mode but it only works in normal mode SATA no more at maximum speed. The Satellite A200 supports only SATA 1.0 mode (SATA150).

You can use a HARD drive with 7200 RPM, this isn't a problem.

What HARD drive capacities are supported, that you can see in the user manual. Look in Chapter 1.

The SATA driver is in the Intel Storage Manager package.

  • Satellite A300-15B - 300 SATA-Compatible?

    Hi all
I only run Kubuntu (64 bit) for the moment on my machine, but I would add an extra internal hard drive, so to reinstall Vista.

    My questions are:
    1. If there is no problem with the extra hard drive, (the beach is empty then why not add a few outside more GB of storage?)?
    2. I found that good part of WD 500 GB but it's sata 300 so I'm not sure if my motherboard can afford it.

If the above is fine, something extra, off-topic will be if I can still use my windows activation key.

    Many thanks in advance,
    Nikos

    Hey,.

It s absolutely no problem adding a second HDD. As you already wrote, why not add a few more ;) GB

General rule, SATA 300 (> SATA2) hard drives are not a problem. As far as I know Satellite A300 already supports SATA2 and if not all SATA2 hard drives is compatible downgrade SATA1 interface. So each SATA HDD work on each controller SATA, no compatibility issues don't.

If you install Toshiba Recovery disk Windows, no activation or product key is required.

  • SATA on Tecra S11 speed

    Hello

I'm looking for a tecra S11 sata connection speed.
I want to replace my ssd for the greater and I was wondering if I could win something when I buy a sata-600 drive instead of the sata-300 that I use at the moment.
I use an OCZ vertex II now (120 GB)
I would go for the OCZ vertex 3 (256 GB), but this one has connection sata-600.

will this work? and the sata-600 enjoy my system?

    Kind regards

    Luke

    > I would go for the OCZ vertex 3 (256 GB), but this one has connection sata-600

SATA 600 means SATA III standard that support the theoretical 600 Mbps transfer speed

SATA III is backward compatible with SATA I and II.
So you can use the SSD 600 MB/s (SATA revision 3.0) in connection with SATA I and SATA II. But of course, the speed would be limited to these standards.

AFAIK the Tecra S11 supports SATA 2.5 Rev (gen 2) which means that it is SATA II limited to 300 MB/s
