  Hi, I have a Compaq Presario C700 p/n GR598EA #ABU I got to work about 3 years ago.

  If it worked the first time, there is no reason that it will not work the second time on the same computer, as long as the Windows 7 is a full version.

  If this is an upgrade version, you must have the qualifying OS installed and enabled before you upgrade and it will work.

  If you have a full retail version of Windows 7 to install. There is no need to format, Windows 7 will do all the necessary work.   If you have an upgrade copy of Windows, you must install an earlier version of Vista, of Windows before moving on to a more recent version of Windows.
