Satellite 1620CDS: how C to format and reinstall Windows 98se

Hello
I have an old machine to 1620CDS and after several years of inactivity, I tried to use it again, but Windows did not start to the top at all. So I used the Toshiba product recovery disc and need to re - format disks before you reinstall Windows.

However, during the formatting process, I have this message: 'type of media not valid reading drive C, terminated format' so I shut down the computer using the power button / stop and tried again, but the result was exactly the same. What it means?

HARD drive somehow corrupted or there is an error on the recovery disk?

Can someone help me with this?

Hello

It is a simpler method to format the HARD drive.
After booting from the floppy in the BACK, you can try this command:
FDISK/MBR

But if you don t know if the HARD drive is bad or not to download the fitness test utility in the form of disk and check you the HARD disk.

  • Formatting and reinstalling Windows without the recovery CD

I don't have access to my recovery cd as I am currently overseas and I am trying to format and reinstall windows. What would be the best way to do this? The recovery CD is totally part of reinstalling windows?

I don't want to just do the reinstall and find that I have no screen etc.

    Hello

Well, if you have no recovery CD, you can install the Windows operating system from the original CD of Microsoft Windows. Then you can try to download all the required drivers will Toshiba from the Toshiba download page.
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

But beware: you must update the drivers in the correct order. The drivers are placed in the right order, and it is very important for the new facility.

Hi all. No one knows what buttons to press so that I can format and reinstall windows xp from scratch on my lap top compaq pentium 4 from a CD-ROM.

    Hello

In your other thread, you said that your XP CD is damaged.

The manufacturer normally gives you one way or the other to reinstall; not both.

If you had a recovery partition, this is the information:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/document?CC=au&LC=en&docName=bph07145#N296

    1. Turn on the computer.
    2. Just after the first screen display (the display of the logo), press the F10 key repeatedly until a recovery menu appears.
    3. etc.

    See you soon.

  • Is there a way to download windows 7 to format and reinstall windows 7?

Original title: a need to reinstall windows 7

is not a recovery media, my installation a lot of scratch DVD, is there a way to download windows 7 to format and reinstall windows 7?

If Microsoft said that he is not a retail license, you can not download from here.

If it is refurbished there is no recovery partition.

If it came with Vista and now Windows 7, Vista must be reinstalled and then upgraded to Windows 7.

If the name of the Reconditioners is about it, to contact them.

Need simple instructions to reformat my Dell daughter portable c drive and reinstall Windows XP from cd.  Suppose that then I have to install Service Packs.  Thank you.

Simply boot from the installation CD and follow the instructions for a clean install. It will begin by formatting the drive for you.

Why do you do this? It is almost always a mistake and often creates a lot of work and a lot of problems.

  • Format and reinstall Windows 10 - Dell XPS 13 9343

    Hello

I have a Dell XPS 13 9343 provided with windows 8.1 and I have upgraded to windows 10.
I would like to format and do a clean install of windows 10 and after that to create a dual boot with ubuntu.
I don't want to retrieve anything, just in any format.
    My question is:
    1. What is the best way to do it? Is there a preparation necessary before formatting (except backup)? If anyone can point me to a relevant detailed guide, it will be great.
    2. do I need to care that I want to install ubuntu in dual boot, when I format and install windows? Or just to install after windows is already installed?
    Thank you.

10 Windows will recreate all the partitions it needs. If you want to save your old settings factory Dell backup and restore use to make a bootable USB:

I want to reformat my mac with bootcamp and I want to reinstall windows. can I use the same cd key and product? or do I have to do something with the current activation? Windows will recognize that it is the same computer after I repartition it?

If it worked the first time, there is no reason that it will not work the second time on the same computer, as long as the Windows 7 is a full version.

If this is an upgrade version, you must have the qualifying OS installed and enabled before you upgrade and it will work.

  • Need to format and reinstall Windows XP but do not have a disc

    Help! I NEED FORMAT!

Please READ THIS! I have a Windows XP, x 86 (x 64) Dell Dimension B110 and need to format it. I have NO DISC! I want to continue to use it I just need to delete it if I can solve my problem! Please tell me how!

According to the Dell support page, a lot of computers Dell Dimension have a recovery partition which can restore your computer to the State "as purchased".  Reference Dell calls this "PC Restore".  After you have created a backup of your data, you start this by pressing Ctrl + F11 when the Dell splash screen appears at startup.  Full instructions are here:

  • do I need to backup drivers if I want to format and reinstall windows 7?

My laptop already has OS "windows 7", but it is slow and has problems with gel
If I want to format it and install clean (windows 7) and I have the CD and everything
and I backed up every thing I want, documents, pictures, music, videos, etc. on an external hard drive
My question is, do I need to backup the drivers?
    If so, HOW ?
citing again once I want to format the entire hard drive of the laptop

    Hello S.e.91,

If you have a full retail version of Windows 7 to install. There is no need to format, Windows 7 will do all the necessary work. All the necessary drivers for the operating system will be loaded directly from the Windows installation disc. After installation, you will begin to install other software that you have purchased; all the necessary drivers for this third party software will be, once again, from the software disc.

If you have an upgrade copy of Windows, you must install an earlier version of Vista, of Windows before moving on to a more recent version of Windows.

If you install a full commercial copy (in other words you bought yourself a converted copy of the operating system) you can find this link on my site useful: http://winuser.co.uk/09_installing_windows_7.aspx

  • After formatting and reinstalling firefox exception lists are already filled.

I've just formatted my laptop and reinstalled windows and Firefox. After importing my old favorites, I installed Adblock Plus and pulled up to my old block list. Then I updated Windows and then install small stuff like 7zip, Symantec,... and the next thing I know is that Firefox slowing down and when I checked, lists of the exception for pop ups, image loading and Add-ons have been completely full - and I didn't know everything of the first hundred of sites listed.
How can this be? I went only to pages like youtube, yahoo and google, and only after the installation of symantec...
    Help is greatly appreciated!
    Thanks in advance!

Some security software can be added to that list Spybot S & D is known to add a list of vaccination, but other security software can do the same.
