Satellite 1900-102 memory upgrade

Hello

I'm puzzled. Toshiba manual says I have 2 memory slots yet I seem to have only 1 (memory slot has 4 fixed chips). I received computer with 512 but want to upgrade to 1 GB, which book tells me that I can do.

Issues related to the:
How to pass with 1 slot and what/where I can get. I can't find on the site Web of Toshiba. Help, please

Hello Croy,

Yes, he can memory available slots, but there is only one slot userupgradable!

The problem is that I have read my manual, looked at this forum and you talked to Toshiba where I now have 3 different types of RAM to.

Can someone clarify, or Toshiba was unable to explain why the manual says different from what they are?

    Hello

I put t know what information did you you get different people, but it seems that the simple PC2100 200-pin memory (266 MHz) DDR SODIMM modules are compatible and supported!

You should be able to upgrade the laptop with all the modules that supports the specifications above.
It seems that two module slots are evolving and you can use max 2 x 512 MB.

This page will confirm my suggestions:

I want to upgrade to the HD of my Satellite 1900 102 because of the original HD 20 GB is small.
Can what type of HD Toshiba I use? 2.5 "or 1.8" too?
Toshiba MK1234GAX 2.5 "120GB HD is compatible with my laptop?
    Thank you

    Hello

Two years ago I had Satellite 1900-703. Beautiful peace of hardware isn t it? On this laptop, you can use HDD 2.5 only. 1.8 HARD disk is used by ultra-thin laptops as some models of the Portege.

To be honest 120 GB is a little too much for this good old classic and I'm sure that it won't wok. If I'm that much memory my Satellite was delivered with 40 GB. Maybe 60 or even 80 GB HDD can work with this laptop but 120 GB. I'm quite skeptical that it will work.

  • Upgrade satellite 1900-102, hard drive

Hello... My laptop is a toshiba satellite 1900-102 with a 20 GB hard drive. I would like to ask if I can upgrade the hard drive with another model and not the classic toshiba MK * 18GAP. Is it OK to use a hard drive from another provider? I want to use a Hitachi drive, which is less expensive, but it will be compatible?
    Thanks in advance!

Don't know anything about Hitachi, but what speaks against an exchange of hard drive?
The most important is the measures of the hard drive.

    Hello

It s very rare that the BIOS is damaged after the attack of virus.
But however the BIOS you will find on the Toshiba site.

Please check also the update BIOS procedure because wrong procedure can damage the motherboard.

  • Satellite 1900-102: power management utility installs in XP SP2

    Hello

I was wondering if anyone has encountered thi problem before:

I had to uninstall the Toshiba power management utility (version 1.3 for the Satellite 1900 102 running XP SP2). When I tried to re - install the installer launches and I get a message saying "Invalid Handle" followed by the error "unable to install this version of the utility of toshiba to your system power management" and Setup stops.

    Any help is appreciated.

    Hello

    Why you reinstall this utility?
As far as I know on the Toshiba site are drivers. One for the other for WinXp and Win2k.
Have you tried to install the correct driver?

  • Update hard disk for Satellite 1900 102

    Hi all

I used to work with a Toshiba Satellite 1900 102 since July 2002 and March my hard drive has stopped working (maybe it was time).
Where can I buy records 2.5 "that this series of satellites can be supported?

What is the maximum capacity (in GB) laptop that recognizes the old man?

    Thanks for all your help!

    Hello

2.5 hard drives can be bought anywhere I think then, either you contact an authorized service provider or you visit your favorite computer store.

I think that the Satellite 1900 limits the 28-bit LBA. This would mean that the size of the HARD disk is limited to 128 GB. The maximum capacity is 120 GB that you can use, but I think that 80 GB would be enough according to your amount of files you want to save on the HARD drive.

If you have any other questions please let us know! :)

  • XP display for Satellite 1900-102 driver

    Hello

I'm looking for a display driver for my old Toshiba Satellite 1900 102.

After Installing Win XP Pro, a generic driver for ATI Mobility Radeon was automatically installed, and it is not working properly.

Refreshing window is very slow and impossible to manage or configure.

I'm trying to find it but it seems impossible to me.

    Can someone help me please?

    Thank you.

    Kind regards

    Hello

    > Refreshing window is very slow and impossible to manage or configure
The problem is that a graphics driver has not been installed and the Win operating system uses own common Microsoft driver.

To resolve this problem, you must install the graphics driver of the European driver Toshiba page.

    To find the page of the European driver follow this path;
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support download &-> download drivers

You have to search the ARCHIVES!

    Good luck

    and

    Hi Erdl,

I think this is the wrong forum to ask questions about buying used and portable defects! I understand toshiba as well as this forum is only for technical user to help!

In my opinion, you will have more luck at ebay or used equipment selling home pages!

  • Satellite 1900-102 and tv out

I'm not able to get my tv-out from the satellite 1900-102. I think he's sending NTSC, but I don't know how to change it to PAL.

    Henk

    Hi Henkoo

There are 2 possible places to fix this.
The configuration of the BIOS or the videodriver.
I don't know which is the right one for your model, but the easiest is to first check the BIOS.
When you feed the machine, you will see a Toshiba logo for almost 2 seconds. While the logo is visible, you can press F2 to enter the BIOS setup and make a turn. If you feel uncertain when to go, please just read the explanatory text and be careful when you press the buttons. Normally you should not be able to do any "harm" to the system when you are.

If you can't find the PAL/NTSC setting in the BIOS, start your machine and make adjustments in the videodriver.
Right click on the desktop and choose "settings". From there it is probably pretty simple.

  • Satellite Pro 4300 - memory upgrade problem

    Hello

I know that the issue has been already discussed several times, but it seems that none of the solutions or suggestions posted earlier apply to my situation.
I recently bought an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 4300. The laptop has a slot filled memory of 64 MB module of the system's total memory was 128 MB.
Because in my opinion, the system has worked to slow down, I decided to buy an additional memory module. I bought 128 MB - module TOSHIBA PA3005U k and placed in the slot B

I was very surprised when I found that, after the upgrade, Windows showed that the total memory is 192 MB.
When I put the 128 MB in the slot module is and the old module of 64 MB in the slot B - the surprise was even bigger, given that windows showed only 128 MB.

I first thought that the slot B is defective, but in this case, it would be impossible to get in the first place the 192 MB. Then I thought that the new module of memory was either defective or it was 64 MB instead of 128 MB, but this option is also likely, according to my observations. Furthermore, I checked with EVEREST software system and it recognizes the new module as 128 MB module, but does not see the old 64 MB module.

The situation is quite strange. Does anyone has an idea whay happens?

    Kind regards

    Sebastian

To my knowledge, the 4300 Satellite Pro can be upgraded to 320 MB max.
    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=5769&ft=m&St=3

64 MB module which was fitted with your laptop should not be removable.
So in this slot ONLY this 64 MB module could work properly.

I know it's strange but the computer world is sometimes strange ;) you know :D

  • Re: Satellite 1900-102 XP install without recovery CD?

    I have a Toshiba S1900-102.

I put a larger (40 GB) HARD drive in it, and I would like to install my XP Pro SP2 English on it rather than the original German XP Home that sits on the recovery CD.

Is this possible without going through the road to dual boot, and if so, how can I go about it? Would it not possible to mount a Ghost image of my desktop XP system on the new drive if I connect to the desktop with the converter cable? So would it work on the laptop and I need to load specific Toshiba drivers?

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

I m not very well what you want to do?
You want to use on your satellite 1900 old dualboot?

If you want to use both Win XP, then you need to create a second partition on the HARD drive.
First install the OS on the recovery disk.
Then create the second partition using a 3rd party magically partitions.
After you create a new partition, you could boot from your other CD of Win XP and could install the second XP on the new created partition.

The XP drivers are on the European driver Toshiba page.
You need to look in the folder to ARCHIVE, because the Sat 1900 is an older unit.
