Satellite 1900-303: the optical drive replacement

Hello

Are there opportunities to replace the optical drive of this model? With or without a screwdriver? I want to replace the drive combo of origin (without work) by the other Toshiba combo drive. Can I replace the optical drive or only the Toshiba official centres can do this operation (simply)?

Thank you very much

André - Portugal

Hi Andre,

Change your optical drive is pretty easy (with a screwdriver). your player is usually set with one or more screws and once these are removed the reader can be slipped out of position.

You can then remove the plastic trim of the components of the original drive and install them on your new drive (unless a new one is delivered complete with all the accessories). You will also need to remove the metal from your old drive brackets since they will have to be placed on your new drive.

Insert the new drive in your laptop computer and fix it with the screws that you removed in the original.

When you start your laptop should automatically detect the new drive. Note that the boot process may be slower than normal because the system will get the proper drivers etc for your reader doesn't and will update your configuration with the new information files.

The important thing is to get a new optical drive with the same dimensions as the original.

    Hello

I'm trying to replace my Panasonic uj-810 multiple disks with a new Panasonic uj-845 a. The problem is that it does not start with the inserted disc. If the disc is inserted with windows running, nothing happens until I go and refresh Device Manager. Then the computer, it crashes with kernel blue screen error that sort of thing...

If the disc is inserted while Windows starts, the system crashes without warning... I should also mention that there is nothing wrong with the drive itself, because it works without a hitch on other computers, in that I have tried.
Some help would be appreciated please

    Hello Vano

The problem is that each player is not compatible with all units due to the assignment of pins. If your new disk is not compatible, it may be that your device falls down at the beginning while windows try to detect all available hardware components.

I believe you that the drive is ok but as I said is probably caused by compatibility.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - DVD optical drive replacement

I'm looking for some advice, thanks, regards access to disc DVD/CD on my Pro L20.

My current car has passed away, but I was hoping (temporarily) replace it with my old car Saturday 1130.
Before even I can check to see if compatible, I have a problem in removing the existing carpet * a unit... UJ841S there are 2 screws likely below, but I think I'll also remove first the keyboard.

I'm embarrassed about the lifting of the (?) metal strip that runs along the top of the keyboard... of clues on how to do it?

And am I correct in having to delete the "Board of Directors?
    Thanks in advance...

Yes, you will need to remove the keyboard, because under the keyboard, you will find a screw that holds the CD/DVD drive.
First, then remove the thin plastic above the F1 - F12 buttons and remove the 2 screws securing the keyboard.

Then you could lift the keyboard carefully (don't forget the keyboard cable flat that connect the keyboard to the motherboard)
Then remove the two screws holding the optical disk drive.

Then turn the computer, remove the two screws (at the bottom of the unit) fixing the ODD.
Then pull on the STRANGE carefully.

This description should help you to remove the disc.

But if you don t have enough experience; Don t this and ask the technician for help!

  • Satellite 1900-303: ATI Display Driver questions

My laptop broke down several times and incident analysis Microsoft told me that the problem is caused by the display driver ATI Mobility M6. I downloaded the drivers from the Toshiba site and the site of ATI but the installation cannot be performed because of missing files.

ATI do not provide support for laptops, and I'm running out of ideas - everyone else has had a problem like this?
When my system freezes the display becomes as a negative character size is expanded, and when I restart, I get the message that my system has recovered from a serious error.
I don't run games on my system, only photosoftware like Kodak Easyshare.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

Usually, you should always use the graphics driver Toshiba because these drivers are designed for the use of the laptop. The other driver graphic s manufacturer, you can use on the desktop PC and not on the Toshiba laptop due to overheating problems.

You can also check other Toshiba laptops with the same graphics card if there is a newer version of the graphics driver.

Have you checked if the recovery procedure can solve this problem? If this isn't the case, then well, I think you should also check this possibility. Perhaps, it solves the strange question.

  • Satellite 1900-303: can I put the hard drive 120 GB

I have a S1900-303 and I think to raise the 120 GB hard drive. What are the problems, if any, are that I meet and I can do froom the Toshiba startup disk or do I just install XP from a XP disc?

    Hello

That I myself remember Satellite 1900-303 has been delivered with the 30 GB HARD drive.
So, in my opinion, 120 GB HARD drive size is too big and I presume that the BIOS of the laptop will not recognize the HARD drive!

I think you can use a 40 GB, 60 GB and a 80 GB HARD disk.

PS: you must search the HARD disk with the IDE (ATA-5) increased!

  • problem with cd/dvd on my Satellite 1900 303 drive

    Hello world
In 2003, I bought a Satellite 1900-303. Recently, it's the cd/Dvd drive has stopped working properly. whenever I put a Cd in the driver, it assumes that the CD is an audio cd. If the CD is completely cd Audio or partially contained audio files that it opens the cd with no problems. But if the cd is a CD or software for data CD after having tried long time my system hangs. I change the properties of the Cd drive settings in the section of AutoPlay of music file to other options such as "mixed content". but after inserting the CD in the drivers it agains automatically replaces the file 'music '. I showed my book expert in computer system and ease, he tried to reinstall windows XP to fix the problem but it did not work. Since the driver did not work he used the external driver to install windows XP. but the problem has not been resolved.
Is there someone who knows by chance that I have to do to get it back?
    Waiting for useful tips.
    Vahed

    Hello

your friend installed the XP from a Cd MS or on the Toshiba Recovery CD?

To my Toshiba laptop computer, AutoPlay section is also set music file and working properly!

When this failure occurred for the first time? Did you use the recovery option of system SM at the beginning - accessories - prog. -Recovery system
Perhaps the backsetting of your system to solve the problem!

You can also check if a firmware update is available for your car! (If it's a Toshiba drive go to http://www.toshiba-europe.com/storage/index.asp?nav=HOM&page=HOM&frame=home

    Hello

To remove the optical drive, he can just remove the 2 screws that are placed at the bottom of the unit on the side of the road. Then you can simply drag the drive outward to disconnect the connector on the system board.
The player is placed in the plastic frame. You must therefore also this framework for a new disk.
Remove the plastic of the unit frame, only to remove 4 screws.

  • HP Pavilion 15-p263nl: 2nd HARD drive cart, replace the optical drive for HP Pavilion p263nl 15 Notebook PC & Windows 10

    Hi all!

I intend to add an SSD for my HP Pavilion p263nl-15 Notebook PC. I found some sites that I can remove the optical drive and put a second drive using a caddy adapter in the optical drive Bay. I found that some people on the forum did it successfully, but nothing on my PC model. I want to know if he could work with my product.

In other words, there is my plan:

1 remove the real disk HDD hard bay and replace it with the new SSD.

    2. remove the optical drive and replace it with the adapter caddy containing my old HDD.

    3. do a clean install of Windows 10 on the SSD using a USB key recovery made with my real Windows 10 system (which has been updated from Windows 8.1 July 2016).

I already have a 120 GB OCZ SSD (OCZ Vertex 3).

I have a few questions before buying the adapter:

1 - the two drives (my old HDD and the new SSD) are recognized by the motherboard / BIOS and the operating system (Windows, 10)? Is there a limit to a unique HARD/SSD disk drive on the computer?

2 should. What size the card be? I found offers for 9.5 mm and 12.7 mm that are supposed to be suitable for HP Pavilion in general

3 - these parts work together and with my computer (size, compatibility)? You can expect any problems with this upgrade?

4 - clean install Windows 10 quote, because I intend to install it on a different drive than the one I used to create the key USB recovery flash? I have never done a clean install of Windows before.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Alessandro

p.s. in this section of the forum (where I took most of the post), the solution worked almost perfectly, but it's a different product of the Pavilion 15 ^^

    Hello

    1. Yes,

    2. your machines use 9.5 mm SATA Tray,

3 problem? I can't answer this question because who knows nothing until the track.

    4. I don't know how you create USB recovery but a good new installation should work.

    Kind regards.

  • HP Pavilion 15-e073ca: 2nd HARD drive cart, replace the optical drive for HP Pavilion e073ca 15 Notebook PC & Windows 10

    Hello!

I intend to add an SSD in my two years 15-e073ca HP Pavilion Notebook PC. I found some sites that I can remove the optical drive and put a second drive using a caddy adapter in the optical drive Bay. I found that some people on the forum did it successfully, but nothing on my PC model. I want to know if he could work with my product.

    2. remove the optical drive and replace it with the adapter caddy containing my old HDD.

    3. do a clean install of Windows 10 on the SSD, using a recovery USB stick made with my system Windows 10 real (which has been updated from Windows 8.1).

I plan to purchase the following parts:

    1 - a HDD / SSD cart adapter for HP Pavilion 15 (model OBHD9-SATA-SATA-BU9), of NewmodeUS (http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_5&products_id=583)

    2 - a SSD 128 GB (article SDSSDHP - 128G), SanDisk (http://www.sandisk.com/products/ssd/sata/ultra-plus/?capacity=128gb)

I have a few questions before I buy parts:

1 - the two drives (my old HDD and the new SSD) are recognized by the motherboard / BIOS and the operating system (Windows, 10)? Is there a limit to a unique HARD/SSD disk drive on the computer?

2 - the height of the SSD is 7mm, and it seems that my old HDD is 9.5 mm in height (model WDC WD10JPVT-60A1YT0). It would cause no problem (I need to add spacers)?

3 - these parts work together and with my computer (size, compatibility)? You can expect any problems with this upgrade?

4 - clean install Windows 10 quote, because I intend to install it on a different drive than the one I used to create the key USB recovery flash? I have never done a clean install of Windows before.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Haghe

Your plan is perfect. The SSD to will of 7 mm that always come back fine it just will be lower in the caddy. The holes and SATA connections are in the same place as a hard drive of 9.5 mm. You can use a spacer (many SSD include one in the box) but not really necessary.

Installing SSD for Windows 10 the way you expect is not really "own", that he will again introduce files and programs, in my opinion and certainly drivers. Whatever it is, it works perfectly and activates the old installation has been enabled.

The hard disk in the optical adapter will not be bootable and will transfer the data a bit slower than a drive in the main compartment, but will still be usable for most cases. If you need fast input/output like Photoshop or video editing move the job file to the first SSD. Alternatively, you may wish to consider documents and photos and other migration on the HARD drive to keep the 128 GB SSD to fill. You can right-click on these files and select 'place' and move them. After the back if you need some help with that.

    Enjoy.

  • 4415 proBook s: replacement of the optical drive - need a support and screw

    Hello

I'm replacing an optical drive, reference 535816-001 for a 4415 s HP's Probook. I've lost the support that attaches to the rear of the optical drive, seen in Maintenance and Service of Guide on page 68 (http://h20628.www2.hp.com/km-ext/kmcsdirect/emr_na-c01918897-3.pdf). The HP parts store said that the replacement of optical discs does not understand the support. I also talked with HP Support, and after putting me on hold and check with their supervisor, said that there is no spare part for the optical drive carrier. Does anyone know of a place to buy a replacement media for optical drive 535816-001 part number that would be compatible with a 4415 s HP's Probook?

I also need a Phillips PM2, 5 × 7.0 live which blocks the optical drive to the computer. I saw screw for sale online kits, but was not sure if someone knew a place where I could buy one.

Thank you very much for the help.

Wait, I don't understand it how can you lose this part if you already work on it? And for your parts, you should look on eBay if they have this hardware and screws for your car as well.

  • Can I replace the optical drive of the ENVY 15 t-k000 with a hard drive?

I saw there are several videos helping to remove the top cover and replace the optical drive. But it does not expressly say that the optical drive can be replaced by a hard drive.

Yes you can. Here's the part you have to do with. Just remove the optical drive, add a hard disk in one of these adapters and replace it for the optical drive:

    https://www.jacobsparts.com/items/HDDBAY-02/

You may also need to swap the façade of the old optical disc to make the installation of good look.

I wouldn't use this for one SSD. An SSD belonged to the main disk space to enjoy the speed. The drive into the optical drive adapter will not be bootable and it will be not given quite as fast as the main hard drive transfer speeds. So if you have a drive in this card, a big (1 TB) and slow (5400 RPM) drive would be preferable. It will be purely for storage and it is still fast enough to see the video of for example but if you are doing video editing I would try not to edit videos from the optical drive Bay. Move them to the fastest reader first.

My HP G71 model #G71-329WM will not load a CD or DVD so I need to replace the optical drive. What is the correct part number? Thank you

    Hello:

Here is the link to the service manual for your laptop.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c01713747.PDF

Replacement of optical discs with reference numbers HP are in Chapter 3, page 33.

You can also read the instructions in Chapter 4 on removing the drive and get the number off of it, which is normally on a white sticker.  A reference to 6 digit-3 digit number (123456-001)

You can search by the number of coin on eBay for a used camera but work or you can probably buy a new one at HP by entering the part number on the link below.
