HP Pavilion 15-p263nl: 2nd HARD drive cart, replace the optical drive for HP Pavilion p263nl 15 Notebook PC & Windows 10

Hi all!

I intend to add an SSD for my HP Pavilion p263nl-15 Notebook PC. I found some sites that I can remove the optical drive and put a second drive using a caddy adapter in the optical drive Bay. I found that some people on the forum did it successfully, but nothing on my PC model. I want to know if he could work with my product.

In other words, there is my plan:

1 remove the real disk HDD hard bay and replace it with the new SSD.

2. remove the optical drive and replace it with the adapter caddy containing my old HDD.

3. do a clean install of Windows 10 on the SSD using a USB key recovery made with my real Windows 10 system (which has been updated from Windows 8.1 July 2016).

I already have a 120 GB OCZ SSD (OCZ Vertex 3).

I have a few questions before buying the adapter:

1 - the two drives (my old HDD and the new SSD) are recognized by the motherboard / BIOS and the operating system (Windows, 10)? Is there a limit to a unique HARD/SSD disk drive on the computer?

2 should. What size the card be? I found offers for 9.5 mm and 12.7 mm that are supposed to be suitable for HP Pavilion in general

3 - these parts work together and with my computer (size, compatibility)? You can expect any problems with this upgrade?

4 - clean install Windows 10 quote, because I intend to install it on a different drive than the one I used to create the key USB recovery flash? I have never done a clean install of Windows before.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Alessandro

p.s. in this section of the forum (where I took most of the post), the solution worked almost perfectly, but it's a different product of the Pavilion 15 ^^

Hello

1. Yes,

2. your machines use 9.5 mm SATA Tray,

3 problem? I can't answer this question because who knows nothing until the track.

4. I don't know how you create USB recovery but a good new installation should work.

Kind regards.

  • 2nd hard drive for HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Notebook - what do I need?

Hi, I have the HP Pavilion dv7t-4000 CTO Select Edition Entertainment Notebook (product # WV703AV). It can accommodate two hard disks but only came with one. What would need to be able to install the second hard drive? I need just a connecting cable or I also need to caddy or kit?

Also, would I get a solid state? My laptop that would support or should I just use regular?

Currently, I am on Windows 7 64-bit. I have a 500 GB hd (which came to be partitioned with hp tools/restoration).

Help with what I would need to a conventional hard drive or ssd would be greatly appreciated. I tried to look through messages of others first, but could not find anything specific to my model. Thanks for your time!

    Hello:

The only place I know where you can get a 2nd hard drive kit is that provider.

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&products_id=345

Your laptop should be able to work with an SSD, but I can't guarantee it.

I don't really see any point in adding an SSD unless you make the main hard drive, and to do this, you must get an SSD of the same size as the original 500 GB hard drive to use the recovery discs to reinstall the operating system.

Most people get smaller SSD and they use the W7 product key to activate a simple installation of W7.

If you can read all 25 characters of your product key for windows 7, you can do your own installation media and allows to install Windows on a smaller than 500 GB SSD.

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. The link below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://download.CNET.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-download-tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

  • Adding 2nd hard drive for Dell E310

    Hello

I recently made some updates to my E310 and, until I got to the point where I was adding the second hard drive, everything went well.

First of all, nobody in my local computer store knew of the blue Paw was to add 2nd hard drive; They suggested screw. This isn't the first hard drive I have installed, even if it is the first in my Dell. After my third attempt of Googling, I struck gold - a post in the forum explaining that support is needed and a telephone number to order. I am so grateful for this response.

I read in similar positions and before putting the drive in I want to understand what is needed after the physical installation. This player will not hold the OS (XP Media), but held the whole image, music, and various files. Still must the player be partitioned and formatted using disk management I read in another post? I understand that I must go into the Bios to activate the second hard drive, so to speak. Is this similar to enter the CMOS? Would you be able to provide clear instructions?

Is there anything else I should do to get the new HDD to be operational?

Thank you for your time and thanks to the person who posted this phone number.

  • 2nd hard drive for my E521?

I have an old Dell Dimension 4100 boxed on the floor with a 40 Gig drive sitting in it.

I thought I should put it in my E521 for a little extra space.  But I've never had two hard disks on a PC before and I don't know how it works.

I've changed hard drives out before so I think that iam is able to do this swap out.

Will it take any additional wiring to connect the 2nd hard drive?

The drive installed windows and has a few old files...  It will work just like that, or need to be defragmented?

If somone could you tell me what steps to take to change the drive from PC to PC, that would be great.

  • HP Pavilion 15-e073ca: 2nd HARD drive cart, replace the optical drive for HP Pavilion e073ca 15 Notebook PC & Windows 10

    Hello!

I intend to add an SSD in my two years 15-e073ca HP Pavilion Notebook PC. I found some sites that I can remove the optical drive and put a second drive using a caddy adapter in the optical drive Bay. I found that some people on the forum did it successfully, but nothing on my PC model. I want to know if he could work with my product.

    2. remove the optical drive and replace it with the adapter caddy containing my old HDD.

    3. do a clean install of Windows 10 on the SSD, using a recovery USB stick made with my system Windows 10 real (which has been updated from Windows 8.1).

I plan to purchase the following parts:

    1 - a HDD / SSD cart adapter for HP Pavilion 15 (model OBHD9-SATA-SATA-BU9), of NewmodeUS (http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_5&products_id=583)

    2 - a SSD 128 GB (article SDSSDHP - 128G), SanDisk (http://www.sandisk.com/products/ssd/sata/ultra-plus/?capacity=128gb)

I have a few questions before I buy parts:

1 - the two drives (my old HDD and the new SSD) are recognized by the motherboard / BIOS and the operating system (Windows, 10)? Is there a limit to a unique HARD/SSD disk drive on the computer?

2 - the height of the SSD is 7mm, and it seems that my old HDD is 9.5 mm in height (model WDC WD10JPVT-60A1YT0). It would cause no problem (I need to add spacers)?

3 - these parts work together and with my computer (size, compatibility)? You can expect any problems with this upgrade?

4 - clean install Windows 10 quote, because I intend to install it on a different drive than the one I used to create the key USB recovery flash? I have never done a clean install of Windows before.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

    Haghe

Your plan is perfect. The SSD to will of 7 mm that always come back fine it just will be lower in the caddy. The holes and SATA connections are in the same place as a hard drive of 9.5 mm. You can use a spacer (many SSD include one in the box) but not really necessary.

Installing SSD for Windows 10 the way you expect is not really "own", that he will again introduce files and programs, in my opinion and certainly drivers. Whatever it is, it works perfectly and activates the old installation has been enabled.

The hard disk in the optical adapter will not be bootable and will transfer the data a bit slower than a drive in the main compartment, but will still be usable for most cases. If you need fast input/output like Photoshop or video editing move the job file to the first SSD. Alternatively, you may wish to consider documents and photos and other migration on the HARD drive to keep the 128 GB SSD to fill. You can right-click on these files and select 'place' and move them. After the back if you need some help with that.

    Enjoy.

    HP Pavilion 500-210qe desktop

    Windows 8

I want to add an additional hard drive.

There are a lot of empty space in the box.

There are two empty SATA sockets on the motherboard.

There is a power outlet extra.

But I do not see how to fix my new drive mechanically.

    Hello

Based on the following specifications, there NOT all alternatives for a second HDD segment:

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03969069

Alternatively, you can refer to the following manuals:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?tmp_task=useCategory & CC = US & DLC = in & LC = in & Product = 5399832

You are a handyman? If so, you can use screws, glue... to add a second HDD in the guest room. Keep in mind: do not block the airflow.

  • Adding 2nd hard drive for Inspiron 530

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 which has a Samsung 320 hard drive.  I would like to add a second hard drive to put photos, etc.  Green a Western Digital 2 TB 3.5 "SATA looks like a possibility.  However, images, like most of the internal drives I saw pictures, he has one open side showing the drive mechanism.  The Samsung already in the PC is covered.  The additional disc will not become covered with dust (my PC had a lot of cobwebs in it when I opened it to the top!)?  Any advice on which drive to choose and how to install it would also be appreciated.

    dellby

All computers must be inside the frame, cleaned all the dust on a regular basis.

I have two HD SATA and SSD installed in my Inspiron 530 mini tour and have never had a problem of "dust."

Keep the air intakes located on the façade behind the clean HD of any accumulation of dust, helps to cool the hard drives.

Instructions for the installation of a second hard drive physically in a 530 are here:

    FTP://FTP.Dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_desktop/esuprt_inspiron_desktop/Inspiron-530_owner%27s%20manual_en-us.PDF

Will need you a SATA data cable, there should be a spare power connector SATA inside the case and four 6-32 X 1/4, Phillips head screws to mount the drive.

Connect the SATA data cable to the SATA connector on the motherboard.

After you have installed the drive, enter the system setup and make sure the hard drive is "on" [We] and recognized.

For windows to recognize the second hard drive, it must be partitioned and formatted.

Go to control panel, administrative tools, computer management, storage, disk management, right click on the new drive, select format, then you can assign a drive letter.

Hard drives Western Digital and Seagate are good, my preference is for Western Digital.

Also check the length of the manufacturer's warranty, plus the best guarantee.

  • Portege M750 - 2nd HARD drive in the Bay select instead of optical drive carrier

I just bought I used Portege M750 because my M700 was broken. Unfortunately, the berries to choose between the two models are not compatible. Although the availability of a 2nd drive hard trolley is mentioned in the user manual, I couldn't find the part of the disk for the M750 caddy. I tried a standard SATA-SATA HARD drive caddy, but I get a message "select Bay error" at the start, although the caddy runs under windows, as long as you do not hibernate.

Does anyone know the part no of the real 2nd hard drive for Portege M750 caddy / M780? Or is there another 2nd carriage of hard drive that works with the M750 without restriction?

    Hello

I guess that you will need a hard drive caddy part number: P000452980
Then you could place this in the Toshiba Ultra Slim PA3408U-2CTE and PA3408U-1ETC HARD disk adapter

But you can also contact the Toshiba ASP in your country to get a confirmation...

    Concerning

    Hello

The Specifications for the 550-306no indicate that it is not put into service for a disk hard 3.5 "2nd.  Review the information in the computer case.

Some models will allow a 2.5 "HD or SSD to add.  See the image below.

According to the amount of space available between the existing hard drive and the motherboard, you might be able to mount another HD using 3.5 media ".  Those that I had recommended in the past are now $40 (ouch).
