Satellite 1900-603: formatting the HARD drive without losing data

Hello!

I have a laptop of Pentecost 2 partitions in one, I have the OS and in others, I have my data, my problem is I want to format the partition with the operating system without losing my data, I intend to use for formatting recovery CD. Is this possible at all?

Another question, I bought my laptop on the Switzerland but I am Portuguese is it possible to get an in Portuguese of toshiba recovery cd?

Thank you

Hi Rita

It is of course possible.
I assume that you installed your operating system on the first partition and all important files are placed on the second partition.
The recovery procedure contains the standard and expert recovery mode recovery mode.
You must choose expert mode. Here it should be possible to choose the partition where the OS image must be installed.

  • Can I format the HARD drive without losing data?

    Hi all
I used the restore CD to solve a problem on my system (blue screen) and everything was formatted... including the partition where I had music etc...

Is it possible to format my hard drive without losing the data on the partition?

    Hi guys

To my knowledge it s any recovery procedure, you would use; in both cases the drive HARD will be formatted!
Using the disc using the Toshiba HDD recovery procedure and recovery HARD drive will be formatted and you will lose the data on the second partition too.

As far as I know both put the laptop and HARD drive on the same State as on the first day of purchase!

  • Satellite Pro A40: Is it possible to format the HARD drive without disk

I am passing on a Satellite Pro A40 to a brother. It is in very good condition, but has slowed down over the years. I want to get rid of my data (I have on a new machine) and speed up the system by formatting the hard drive.

The machine didn't come with a disc for Windows XP, or a recovery CD (just a CD "tools and utilities"). I'm sure the drive HARD will be partitioned, and I can format the drive without such a disc.

If this is true, how should I do?
    Thank you.

    Hello

I can't believe that you do not have recovery media.
The laptop must be supplied with recovery CD, Tools & Utilities CD, and WinDVD.

    But back to your question;
If you insert a new HARD disk, you will need to use the Toshiba Recovery CD or the original CD of Microsoft Windows to install the operating system.
The new drive is not partitioned HARD and doesn't have any OS pre-installed!

If you n t have the original CD of Microsoft OS you can contact the service provider allowed in your country and you can order it.

    I hope I could help

  • Satellite P30: How to format the HARD drive and install a new OS?

I have a satellite P30 laptop with Windows XP. I plug myself a new OS (namely because I can't find my old recovery CD CD and OS) that I want to do a re-shape full of my system. Reason is that my system has been painfully slower and slower over the last year. I even updated my RAM to 512 MB standard supplied with the machine to 2 GB, but it seems to have had little or no effect. So my questions are:-

1] where can I get my hands on the restore CD that has all the drivers on this subject, and any recovery CD to reformat my HARD drive?
[2] in the order in which I will make this reformatting?
How can [3] after having bought an external HARD drive to keep files that I don't want to lose, I transfer those of before my re - format?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

    :-)

    Hello

You received with the laptop Toshiba Recovery CD! Am I wrong?
    So what s the problem?

Simply insert the CD and try to boot from this CD.
The restore CD contains all Toshiba drivers, tools and utilities Windows OS + additional software like Win DVD for example.
The installation will set the laptop to factory settings, but will also format the HARD drive!

Up to now, we come to the point 3; --> How do I save the data
If you have purchased a second HDD and connect it to the USB port and transfer all the necessary files on the second HDD
If you have purchased only the HARD drive, then you will need a USB HDD 2.5 case.

  • How to change the o/s of Win XP Home instead of Win XO Pro on the computer without having to format the hard drive?

My colleague accidentally installed Win XP Home Edition on a computer that we have configured as a server e-mail and files.

How do I change OS to Win XP Pro without having to re - format the hard drive?

The Win XP Pro is a supplier for the machine. When you change the hard drive (old one crashed), the o/s bad has been installed as they were also recoverinig another PC with Win XP Home.

    Any advise is much appreciated!

    Hi ChongPang,

If you proceed with the installation of XP Pro from XP home, it will ask you to upgrade.

    I hope this helps.

  • How can I get Windows 7 to read RAW hard drives without having to format the hard drive due to important work on this subject?

Original title: the file format of external hard drive is the RAW and not NTFS. How can I get Windows 7 to read RAW hard drives without having to format the hard drive due to important work on this subject?

I put the hard drive on an XP and Vista machine and can read the hard drive, but not with Windows 7

    Hi Zling,

It works on other OS? When did you finally read the disc and with what OS? If you can read the drive and make a backup of the data on this subject, I you suggest to backup the data on the drive and then put it in using the NTFS file system.

  • Can I install Windows 7 Professional on my Windows 7 Home Premium without formatting the hard drive?

I have a genuine copy of Windows 7 Professional, I would like to install on my laptop, but I'm afraid to do that because I don't want to format the hard drive and lose all my files, programs, etc. Is it possible to install it without formatting the hard drive and lose all my data? Thank you.

If the license for Windows 7 Professional, you have access to is a retail version update or complete, you can use the product key and the Express upgrade to Windows 7 Edition Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional your files, programs and settings retained.

  • Windows XP cannot be installed on Satellite A30 after replacing the hard drive

    Hello
you have a problem with my satellite A30 - hard drive has been corrupted (due to accumulation of dust on the cpu!) and I replaced it with a 100 GB hard drive.
Tried the 'recovery cds', but get an error message 'error #1537 file greater than 4 billion number' and recovery has been abandoned halfway after inserting the third cd. The XP Home operating system does not install completely. Any suggestions?
Thank you very much for your help, has soon

    Hello

already tried the recovery process more then once? If so, the error appears at the place of installation? You said that you have installed a new hard drive but actually you have formatted the hard drive before you perform a full restore? That would be really helpful, sometimes recovery is suspended because the disk formatted or partitioned before luckily.

You should really try. One way would be to use the "UBCD4Win' which is a Windows Live CD with really good tools. Format your hard drive with this CD and retry the recovery. Maybe it works...

    Here´s the link to the CD "UBCD4WIn": www.ubcd4win.com ".

    Bye and good luck

Check that your antivirus (all-in-one suite If you have one) is not turn off your network traffic.

Note the devices installed in the machine.  Use this information to download the latest version of the drivers and software for the manufacturer's Web site features (on another machine and store on an external support, I suppose, would be the only way for you to do.)

Uninstall the software/drivers for network devices.  Turn it back on.  Even if pilots are found/installed automatically, manually update the drivers & software using the files you downloaded earlier.

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find.  Reboot when necessary.  (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

Open a command prompt and run the commands following one at a time (after each ENTRY) without leaving the part through if somehting started working...  Note all errors and post them here.

    netsh winsock reset catalog
    ipconfig / renew
    ipconfig/flushdns

    Original title: windows xp installation

I had to change hard drives, I went to load my copy of microsoft windows xp and it tells me it cannot format the HDD how many times can we use the xp disc? Or whats wrong?

    Hi Joshua6495,

What is the full error message that you receive?

See the article below, which deals with a similar question

During installation, you are unable to format a Partition with a file Allocation Table Format

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/301340/

You can use the Windows XP installation disc as many times as you want on the same computer

Note: All programs on the computer and the data will be lost if you format the hard drive. It is recommended to make a backup of your data before performing any Installation of Windows.

    Thanks and greetings

  • Format the hard drive of a Pavilion nc5310

Please explain how to format the hard drive of a pavilion of nc5310 in order to install a very light distribution of Linus.

I couldn't find anything in a search of the internet.

    Thank you.

There are many ways to format the hard drive. You did not really provide details...

You can download the Ultimate Boot CD (UBCD) and burn it to a CD, then you can boot from the CD and use the tools of HARD drive to remove the partitions/erase the hard drive.

    Hi SteveConley,

    1. have you fully formatted the hard drive?

    2. what type of Windows XP Professional CD? It of an upgrade or clean installation CD?

As you have formatted the hard disk, you can perform a clean install will impose you an operating system available on the computer to perform an installation upgrade.

You cannot use the upgrade product key to perform a clean installation.

  • Used the Windows XP drive to format the hard drive

I used my XP to my Dell PC drive to format the hard drive on a used Dell laptop that I bought recently. It automatically re-installed Windows XP from the disk on the laptop, which works fine, but I can't get the laptop to find or recognize the modem to the laptop, so I can't get a wi - fi connection or use my wireless router.  Any ideas?   Thank you

You must install drivers for NICs for wireline and wireless to the computer. If you do not have an installation disc driver Dell, go to the Dell website and download Winodws XP drivers for your computer model. You can do this on another computer and transfer them to your computer using a USB stick, external drive, etc. Boulder computer Maven
