Satellite 1960CS/200 - unbootable

Hi all

I'm on a Toshiba (Satellite)? T1960CS/200 (model No.: PA1170U VT) with MS-DOS operating system.

Then plug the power adapter into the laptop, PC IN lamps is green (means the adapter sector seem to be OK).
After turning on the laptop, the power/speed light indicates a green light for a second but switches to a nothing more happens.

What's wrong?
Could someone help?

Thanks in advance.
BES

Hey,.

It looks like a hardware issue to me. You should try to remove the battery and the AC adapter. Wait an hour and after that connect the two devices again. Try restarting the laptop and hope that it will work! ;)

If this isn't the case it seems to be a hardware malfunction, maybe the motherboard needs to be replaced. I put t know if you want to spend the money for this oldie, but on eBay, you can get second hand parts maybe they are cheaper or you buy a new laptop.

  • Satellite X 200 - 21R - graphics card problem

    Hello

When I start my laptop Satellite X 200 - 21R, there are three successive beep (3 x) and the screen is black.

Apparently, it's the graphics card NVIDIA 8600GT DUAL SLI, it is defective.
It is a montage of special graphics (SLI) card with 2 x GPU 8600 connected in parallel.

If I disconnect the connection in parallel (unplug the two cards) and I can only connect one (to find the card that is dead)?
It is possible and it is functional for the laptop?

    Thank you for your help

To be honest, I can't imagine if it would be possible...
Generally, any change of material must be accepted and supported by the BIOS and as much as I know any GPU changes would affect the BIOS as well as the features of the laptop.

From my point of few to get the workbook, you must use exactly the same GPU chip, which was built in the laptop... but this seems to be a very expensive affair

  • Satellite X 200 - 24F closing

Hello! My Satellite X 200 - 24F guard closing after maximum 1-2 hours. The problem also occurs enter BIOS, so it should not be related to Windows Vista. Thought it might be a problem of overheating CPU, so I disassembled my laptop and removed all the dust from both fans and heat dissipation radiators. In fact I have found no dust clogs, just some dust spread all around.

Unfortunately, the problem is not fixed. The values of the temperature detected by Core Temp are 43-44 ° C for core 0 and 48-50 ° C for 1 core, without running any CPU intensive application. In fact, on the same values were read before the dust cleaning. I think that the CPU temperature is not too high, is it?

Is there anything else I could check or try?

    Thanks in advance.

In my opinion the CPU temperature seems correct. 48-50 ° C is not too high for a CPU.

In general the phone would power off automatically due to a higher temperature. This can happen also in BIOS mode.

But even if the CPU temperature is not too high, there are other devices/parts as i.e. the GPU which could create more heat.
This could lead to a higher temperature too.

  • Satellite x 200-how do to reset the Bios password

    Hello

    I bought a used Satellite x 200 to replace my old p100.
When I received it, I noticed that the bios is locked and the person I got it from is unable to tell me the password, arguing that she used the fingerprint only 4 long.

Is there a way to reset the bios password and how much would it cost?

    Concerning

    Hello

The BIOS password can be removed only by an authorized service provider in the country where you live.
So, contact Toshiba service partners and asking for BIOS password reset.

  • Satellite X 200-219 - the touchpad does not work as it should

    Hi all

I recently bought a 2nd hand Toshiba Satellite x 200-219. Had some problems with it that I have overcome now, except one... The touchpad does not work as it should. I think that the cable has been damaged at some point.

So I'm wondering if I should use the same ribbon cable to connect the keyboard to the motherboard or can I get one of a different model of PC Toshiba laptop?

I tried searching on the net for advice but have resulted in nothing so thought I would try the forums.

Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Lee

I think you can use the items to the satellite X 205 series since this seems to be the same series as X 200:
Found some related parts the touchpad:
    Satellite X 205 / X 200 touchpad Board with cable: reference number: K000047950
    Satellite part number for the TOUCH PAD FFC X 205 / X 200: K000047980

But why you n t come into contact with a Toshiba authorized service provider in your country and order the part necessary and compatible?

  • Satellite X 200-251 lights after cleaning the speakers

Basically, my laptop is suffering from overheating problem because the fan should be cleaned. I decided to give it a go myself and unscrewed all the screws below etc, released the album cd and battery and removed the plastic Panel that covers the speaker who has the power button and other buttons on it.

So I decided to check the Internet for a guide on how to get to the fan. Ultimately he appeared more complicated then I thought and I dropped but I thought I might as well give the speakers clean up a bit because they were pretty dusty.

So I'm on a rag and a cotton swab with one end covered with Wd40 and began dusting off a cleaning. Then I put the Panel in place, put all the screws underneath of the laptop and returned battery and plugged the power cable. But... When I pressed the power button would not turn on!

The small lights that indicate to the laptop is plugged in and the battery is in are turned on, but nothing happens when I try and turn it on. Also I can't get the cd player to stay, it keeps slipping out! I would really apreciate to help here!

BTW, the model is satellite x 200-251

  • Satellite X 200-191 - error message with new BIOS

I have a bit of X 200-191 Satellite BIOS 2.70 on it when I used to install Configfree I get the message that my laptop is not a Toshiba. And I got the program that you can install from Toshiba that downloads the drivers of your laptop computer that is not a Toshiba. But when I load the old BIOS 2.50 every thing is good no message that it's not a nothing white Toshiba laptop the same drivers. Y at - it something whit the BIOS updated?

It does not occur when you update the BIOS of 2.50 to 2.70 only when you have 2.70 and do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit

    Greetings

    Hello

    > But when I load the old BIOS 2.50
How you installed the old BIOS? Older BIOS versions are not available on the Web from Toshiba site and the downgrade is possible to an authorized service because special BIOS update program is necessary.

Satellite X 200-191 belongs to the series of PSPB9E if you downloaded the update for this model or other model (PSPBUE) that would be a mistake?

I read similar messages here in the forum and the reason was a replaced mainboard and ASP has forgotten to write the DMI information. You change the motherboard?

  • Satellite X 200-drivers for Windows 7 32 bit

Please, I'm looking for drivers for the Satellite X 200 Windows7 32 bit.

    Can you help me?

    Hi MirekJ,

All the drivers and tools can be downloaded from the official website of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Satellite X 200 is a former model, to look for in * Archives *.

But I didn't found Windows 7 drivers, it seems that this model doesn't support :(

You can try using Windows Vista drivers. They are similar, and normally they should work too.

Maybe you can give us feedback after installation of Windows 7 and the drivers you used. It would be interesting for other X 200 I think that owners.
I mean a list with the order of installation of all the drivers. It would be really great :)

  • Regions to change DVD satellite X 200-25 H

I have a laptop Satellite X 200-25 H and I need to change my DVD region from 2 to 4, as I now live in Australia, but when I try to do that, my computer tells me to insert 'media' what this means exactly and what should I do to be able to view Australian DVDs?

    Post edited by: WendyS

I assume that the media should be DVD movies with certain region code, that you have defined in the ODD properties.
The Australia must be region 4.

Change the region and enjoy the movies.
