Satellite A100-496 continually trying to boot

My laptop Toshiba A100-496 continually tries to start and that Windows logo appears it goes back to the options to select for example safe mode, I tried all the optuions but in vain.

However, I see a flash of a blue screen with writing and pressing a button, not sure what one I could read the blue screen that gave me a piece of management of memory information.
Windows XP pre loaded in my laptop so I don't have a disc.

I don't want to lose the docs and the photo I stored, can I do to fix this?

Help, please.

Hmm.
I see just one solution;
You must use a Linux Live CD or WinPE bootable disk to boot from that disk and gain access to the HARD drive.
Then you can back up the data on external HARD disk or USB key, and then you would be able to restore the operating system using a Windows XP Vista or Win 7 disc

Google for WinPE and how to create a CD bootable image that you can download.

    Hello

Go to the Device Manager and remove the drive from CD/DVD to the list.
Then access the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    Then restart the machine.

I m not very well if this will help, but in many cases this work around was very helpful

  • Satellite A100-906 does not cool boot

    Hello
I'm new here on the forum, so hi to everyone.
I have this Toshiba Satellite A100-906, one I'm trying to fix and explain (because up to now, I tried a lot of things) the problem.
It has Windows XP Pack 2 and every time that I perfom a Toshiba start log on the collar, but stops loading Windows. This only happens to the cold start, I mean after two-three times closing down and start again from the power button, I can stop and start the laptop normally.
What I've tried (even have a tech): run the Test Mem, repair Windows registry, update bios, update drivers, reinstall OS form the recovery CD - NOTHING!

    Thanks in advance

    Hi marina_2,

Which is really strange and I m wondering have you always this strange behavior after using the Toshiba recovery disc. Normally with this disc, you get back factory settings where everything should work properly.

Well, I think that it s a hardware malfunction, but it is difficult to tell what it is exactly. You can try to check the disk with Drive Fitness Test or another tool (ask Google for it).

Contacting one ASP would also be an option I think

  • Satellite A100-496 power plug problem

Hi, my first post and this is probably a common problem.

I got an A100-496 for about two years and it has been fine. Nothing special, just right.

Although the pin power plug to the back of the machine became loose and therefore constantly moving the battery and possibly perform.

I found any number of sockets of replacement for other models, but this seems rare.
    Can someone advise
one) where I could get one at a reasonable price
    (b) if there are other models that use exactly this Jack
    (c) how it could be difficult to replace or
    (d) the question of whether I should just go out and buy a new machine (certainly not a Toshiba)?

I would be very grateful for any advice and thank you in advance.

    Hello

I think that the replacement of DC Jack is really complicated because it s placed on the motherboard and you will need to disassemble the whole laptop to gain access to decision-making.
The disassembly procedure is not easy, that you know the right order and how to remove devices
There is therefore a high risk of damage to laptop

Anyway, you want to know what is compatible.
Well, I recommend contacting the ASP in your country for details and the right part, the technicians should be abele to order this part at Toshiba.

    See you soon

  • Satellite A100-998: continue Error Message «Power surge on USB hub»

    Hello world.

I am the new owner of a Satellite A100 laptop that has a little problem.

When the laptop goes into mode and the monitor shutsdown, energy saving when I turn on the computer again, I always get an error message will appear in the system tray. The message says: peripheral USB A "Power surge on Hub Port" exceeded the limits of its hub port power. To solve the problem, click this message.

First of all, I have 4 USB ports, but NONE of them are used. There's nothing attached to the laptop at all.
Secondly, when I click on the box, I get 5 unknown USB devices shown with the yellow question mark next to them in the list and 3 unused ports, which seem to be ok, with no yellow question mark.

Why is happening, with no device attached, or even installed on the laptop.

Your help to solve this problem will be more appreciated.

    Rgds
    Neil.

    Hello, Neil

What model of laptop you have exactly (A100-xxx)?

  • Satellite A100-496 - stream albums cover & screen saver does not work

    Hello

I have an old 496 A100 and after the adventures with virus, I used a backup for windows vista 32-bit and just reinstalled drive.

Now, however, the visuals are funny.
On the whole it works, but what I see on the screen doesn't look quite right and some things do not work; as the flow of cover albums of itunes music or the screen saver (it indicates a need a video card more up-to-date, which is strange, because it worked before when I was with Windows xp.)

Does anyone know how to fix this?

    Hello

Hmm, that's really strange that it works correctly now. goto the driver toshiba page and update:

Note that your model drivers are placed in * Archives * in the Type of product section.

  • Satellite A100-259 WinXP - BlueScreen Unmoutable Boot-Volume

For computer laptop brother does not start in any mode etc. (safe), blue screen flashes up a quick "Unmountable Boot Volume"message before disappearing.

There is no option to "Repair" in the advanced options that hit the F8 key at startup.
The only thing it says that there is a Toshiba cd "Recovery", - I migrated to a Mac but thought long ago you at least got the o/s on cd with Windows?

If as I fear the recovery disk allows you to create a "Bootable" cd then I know that he did not make this option.

All the advice - MUCH APPRECIATED, as I had very little hair before that.

    See you soon

If I can borrow another one of these laptops to a family member, I'd be able to create a "bootable" from the recovery disk cd, that my brother has on their laptop - this "recovery" cd would work on his machine?
    ANY help appreciated
    See you soon

  • Satellite A100-496: WLan authentication failed because of incorrect password

    Friends,

I use Intel PROSet Wireless user interface to connect to my wireless router.
Because of this process, I have disabled my windows for wireless control configuration.

However, despite the use of the property of device correct password and the password, I am unable to connect to my WiFi router.

    I get an error stating
    * "Authentication failed because of incorrect security password." *

I use the same password key to connect wirelessly through my other laptops, and they work fine...

I can't find the reason for this failure of authentication...
All the world is facing a similar problem?

Is there a way I can allow windows to control my authtication rather than Intel PRO Wireless...

    Please guide me...

    Hello

Again activate the Windows configuration and use Windows WLAN options to configure WLAN connectivity. To be honest, using Intel PROSet, this should work too.
Try to remove the protection of password on your router for a moment and test the connectivity. To be honest, I'm sure that there is something wrong with the settings of your laptop.

By the way: what operating system do you use?

  • Satellite A100-906 cannot boot from CD

    Hello

I have Satellite A100-906 and can not boot from the CD. I have not now what problem.

I want recovery my pc, but do not boot cd and I tried another CD of Windows and seems to be a problem.

I get a DVD Super Multi drive _usb_ but does not have same problem.

    BIOS tool is default.

    Please FEM answer me

    thanx

    Hello

You said that you are using a USB DVD Super Multi Player?

Sorry, buddy, but I think that you will not be able to boot from the external USB CD/DVD drive
AFAIK BIOS doesn t support this!

You must use the use of the internal CD/DVD drive if you want to boot from the disk!

  • Satellite A100 controls do not work

I have a satellite A100 496, PSAA8E model number and since I got it, I was never able to use the buttons on the side.

I tried to install the common Modules as it said on some forum discussions, but nothing changes.

What else do I need to install?

At first, I must say that something like that is definitely not possible. Why? The laptop comes with the pre-installed operating system (factory settings). All these buttons are designed to work with pre-installed software (IE7, Windows Media Player, WinDVD years also with a Toshiba DVD player).

Because of this I can't believe you have this from the first day. Now the question: did you install your own operating system or you always use factory settings?

  • Re: Satellite A100-283 - 16:9 display on external monitor resolution

    Hello

I just got an old Toshiba Satellite A100-283 and tried to connect it to a TFT 22 ". Somehow, it seems that this laptop graphics card does not support the external screen such as 1920 x 1080 resolutions. I find 16:9 1920 x 1440 resolutions and such but not at all.
Is - anyone here know if there is a way to get this notebook running on an external display in 16:9?

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Heike

    Hey Buddy,

You can change the screen resolution to the 16:9 format when you remove the brand to hide modes that this monitor cannot display as [THIS | http://blog.wildvista.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Lightroom_hide_modes-340x400.png] photo?

Check it then [screen resolutions | http://blog.wildvista.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Lightroom_vertical_res-355x400.png] again if you select another resolution of the screen
