Satellite A200-1TS - "D" key is broken

Hey,.

My "D" key does not work properly I push VERY, VERY hard. I feel there is a dirt inside probably coz sometimes it works, but not too often.

Any way to remove the key one then replace?

Thank you!

> 1. If I replace this broken for the new, I'll lose warranty?
Withdrawal of the laptop parts (with the exception of the upgrade of RAM and HARD drive) will affect the warranty, and Yes, you will lose the warranty.

So in your case, I recommend you contact ASP (certified partner) in your country for assistance.
Usually guys should fix it for free if the warranty is valid.

I think it worth a try to get in touch with the guys, they should be able to provide more details

Greetings
Jaba

    Hi all

I can't get the FN button to work, no matter how many times I reinstall the software of Toshiba, it doesn't seem to work!

    Anyone got a workaround?

I use 2.40 BIOS and Vista 32 bit

    Hello

By using the Vista operating system on laptop Satellite A200, the FN keys are controlled by Vista Flashcard Utility.
This tool is a part of the added value Vista package and therefore this package needs to be reinstalled on your system!

But before you start with the installation of VAP, the VAP installed older must be removed first.

  • Satellite A200-1TS - question on the frequency of the DRAM

    Hello

I have the Satellite A200-1TS with bios vista x 64 vers.2.60 and I upgraded the RAM with (slot 1 and slot 2) each module 2 GB 800 MHz, and work, but the cpu - z program is detect the TIMINGS TABLE frequency is what is good for 800 MHz to 400 MHz, but the DRAM frequency is always working with 332,5 MHz (667 mhz).

What is the problem? Can I do something to work at 400 MHz?

    Hello

I think that the RAM works on 333 MHz because it s always according to the FSB of the processor.
It seems therefore that the CPU has a 333 MHz FSB and RAM also runs on this speed.

  • Re: Satellite A200-1TS - can I upgrade the CPU Intel Core Duo T7800 mobile

    Hello

I have a laptop toshiba Satellite A200-1TS with processor intel core 2 duo T7500 mobile.
Here is my model: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=29761&processor=T7500&spec-codes=SLA3N, SLA44, SLADM, SLAF8,.

I want to change the processor with Intel core duo T7800 mobile.
This is the model: http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=31729&processor=T7800&spec-codes=SLA75, SLAF6

Is it possible to change this?
Because is not a diference betwwen T7500 and T7800.
The only diference is that T7800 has 2, 6 GHz. And my motherboard supports any other procesors as T8XXX or T9XXX?

    Thank you

Why do you want to upgrade?
Only due to the fact that the new processor takes in charge the 2.6 Ghz instead of 2.2 Ghz?

To be honest, you will notice no no performance gain after these updates.
Of course, the processor is faster, but would not really noticeable.

In addition, you should know that a CPU upgrade on laptop is very complicated.
First disassembly of the laptop is really complicated. It may be damaged other parts during disassembly procedure and more, you will lose the warranty.

Theoretically, this processor should be compatible, but as much as I know the Toshiba does not support updates and there could be a conflict of BIOS.

So I would not recommend these updates.

PS: Check your chipset and look at the Intel page for more information about the various CPU media.

  • Satellite A200 with enter key stuck

    Hi all.

I own a Satellite A200 laptop and I have a very strange problem. The Enter key is stuck. I tested it with no keyboard at all, but the key remains blocked. I also tested to disconnect the touch screen and the function keys but always enter key is stuck!

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

Do you also have it tested with new keyboard?

  • Update BIOS issue and on Satellite A200-1z3 FN key

    Dear all,

    Satellite A200-1z3

I have the same problem as many of you already described here. After downgrading from Win XP, I discovered this part of the features enabled by the FN key don't work, for example FN + F2 FN + F6, FN + F7, FN + F8, FN + F9, FN + F12, FN + 1, FN + 2, FN + TAB.

I read in this forum and found that you can solve this problem be reinstall BIOS. When I tried to download BIOS on site it requires Pass and Login which I don't have. If you have any suggestions to download it from there?

If not, how I can activate keboard light FN + F2 and the scroll Lock FN + F9 without button FN button.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

    > When I tried to download BIOS on site requires Login and Pass that I n t I.
Did you use the right page of the Toshiba driver?
You story sounds strange for me because I have visited the Toshiba European page and choose your model. Satellite A200-1z3 PSAE3E.

And I was able to download the BIOS 5, 60 - WIN.

Then maybe you should try again I'm sure it'll work!

    Good bye

  • Satellite A200-1TS (PSAE6E) freezes

    Hello world

First of all, my English is very bad, so I hope someone can understand me. In any case thanks for the effort.

I have a Toshiba A200-1TS I bought 10 months ago. I have two problems that I don't know how to solve. One of the problems is that Vista SP1 starts very slowly, it takes about 4-5 minutes before I can use any program. I have a long startup list, but many of these startup applications come from drivers Toshiba so I guess they can't be disabled. Here is the list I have...

    http://www.imageflux.NET/ver.php?v=774738startup.jpg

As you can see, I added 3 applications, Comodo Firewall, Antivir Personal Edition and Driver printer HP4380. I installed these applications on my other computer and I don't think they are the reason for the slow start. The boot process is fast until I see the office, then the volume, network and battery icons are loaded, and after that I have to wait 2 minutes see the Comodo or Antirvirus icon...

I am very disappointed with that because my computer have never started quickly (my sister has a computer with a slower processor (NOT T7500) and does not have these problems). After 10 minutes of my Toshiba becomes what it takes 'Ferrari' (sorry jeje).

The second problem is more serious. I can't use any of the Fn keys(F1-F12) because my computer hangs when I press the fn (the one which is near the CTRL key). I noticed this problem two months ago (my work leaves me not a lot of time to solve this problem) and I decide to reinstall with the CD of factory two weeks ago.

Everything was fine, I use no problem for 3 three days and after a Windows Update, I noticed the problem again. Then I formatted my HARD drive and I installed a clean Windows Vista SP1 version (thinking that might be a problem of Factory Settings CD so I spent money for nothing), I installed the drivers from the website of toshiba europe, everything seemed OK, but once again after a Windows Update, I can not push FN key because my computer crashes.

I don't know if it could be a Windows problem. Yesterday when I went to sleep, worked the keys Fn and hardware configuration. I accept the updates of windows and does not check after the process.

Today, the computer crashes when I try to load the installer of equipment, or when I press the FN key, so can't change brightness, turn off the touchpad or use the zoom utility (use of flash-cards with the mouse is OK, but I prefer to use the FN keys).

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

I also put t that this could be a hardware problem, due to the fact that your machine and the FN keys worked properly after installing new Toshiba DVD recovery.

I recommend you to download the new VAP Toshiba Toshiba European pilot page and reinstall.
You need to remove the old VAP first. Then clean the BONES and the registry using the CCleaner (it the free tool) and after a reboot reinstalled the VAP.

  • Satellite A200-1ZF: FN keys do not work on Win XP

    Hi all.

I'm new arround here, and I have a question on my new laptop.
I have a Toshiba Satellite A200 laptop 1ZF, and I installed windows xp.
I could install most of the drivers (including the touchpad, webcam, bluetooth, etc.), but I can not do with the fn keys.

    Does not work.
I am pressing fn + F5 or F6 for the light, and nothing happens. In addition, if I can, I want this window of Vista to show when I want to use the FN combination keys.

    Please, can you help me?

I think I can help you
This is a known issue for me I m an owner of a series of Satellite A and from time to time I m here in the forum and I read the interesting discussions

    I found an answer to your problems, it seems that there are two versions of the BIOS;
A version of Win XP and one for the Vista operating system.

If you use the Win XP on your laptop you must update the BIOS to the XP version. This will help to solve the problem with the FN keys

Someone here in the forum posted this solution and I think it should help you too.

Best regards and have a nice day ;)

  • On Satellite A200 (PSAE6E) FN key works only with Windows XP Home edition

    Hello

I just get my Toshiba Satellite A200-2BH, (PSAE6E), included with windows Vista. I'm not comfortable with that OS so I formatted the hard drive and install win XP pro SP3 all seem to be fine with the driver downloaded from driver support Toshiba on the line, but the FN key do not work in certain combinations, for example:
    FN + F5 or + F6 or + F7 do not work
someone say online in this forum that I should install updated BIOS, but this note on the Toshiba support website me resist:

    * "This Bios update adds functionality to your system *."
    * This Bios is NOT compatible for notebook computers equipped with Windows Vista! "*

    What should I do?
    My current setup is:
Satellite A200 PSAE6E with WXP PRO SP3 with the FN key does not
Should I install this update to fix this problem?

Please help me with the path I should follow
    Thank you very much

FN feature under Windows XP Home edition is supported with the latest version of the BIOS update. So don't be afraid. Download the right BIOS update and update Windows XP Home edition.
Before start you BIOS updated to close all running applications and make sure that the laptop is connected to the power supply do not do this with battery power!

The Fn 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 do not work
In addition, I can't Eve operatethe and hibernation.

    Hello

One question; Have you installed the drivers XP which controls the features of FN keys?
I think that you didn t! I ve checked the page pilot European Toshiba and drivers XP for the A200 PSAEC don t exist at this time. So for me it s not surprising that you can not use the FN keys!

See this forum for similar issues on XP driver for notebook A200. There are a few proposals of solution!

  • Satellite A200-1TW with keys (play, stop, pause) with the other player

    Hey all,.

I was wondering, is it possible to change the buttons on the top of the keyboard? Because I now use a nice, built-in media player in the vista sidebar. However, as next song and pause/play buttons do not work on this one. And there is no option in the game itself, so is there another way?

    Thanks in advance :)

    I agree with Akuma.
Can't set keys like play, pause, and stop in the Toshiba Software
I m using WinAmp and this application supports these buttons because I could activate this option in the settings of WinAmp

If your player does not support these settings then you will not be able to use these buttons with your favorite software

  • Satellite A200-1TS and Windows XP installation

    Hey,.

Last Christmas, I bought this laptop GREAT, I'm very happy with it so far, but im tired of Windows Vista does not work for some OLD games I have. I tried to install Windows XP (Original CD) but it does not detect my hard drive.

How I could still it? :(

This problem is described, I suppose, since Vista is on the market, about 1000 times.
Use the advanced search option, you can find a great number of discussions with the exact description what you need for the installation of Windows XP Home edition.

The HARD drive is not visible due to lack of driver SATA to be installed initially using the F6 key. For installing WXP using Windows XP SP2 home edition.

You can find it on the Toshiba support page. Choose your model of laptop (PSAE6E) please and download the Storage Manager. In the download file, you will find the F6flpy folder and inside this folder, you must ICH7M or ICH8M. For 32-bit, of course.

In order to check it please this document http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB8602DB0001R01.htm
    Everything is explained there.
