OfficeJet 6700: scan to email

Using Win 7 64 bit desktop with OfficeJet 6700.

How can I scan directly to Thunderbird without having to analyze everything first and then attach it to an email?

I'd rather not use (or want to) Windows Live Mail.

Hi @mortn99,

I noticed you're wondering how to scan to e-mail directly in Thunderbird, with your HP Officejet 6700 on Windows 7. I am pleased to see that for you!

Scanning to e-mail software, will always use the email client that is configured by default. An option that may work is to set Thunderbird as default email client. Please see this article, make sure Thunderbird the default e-mail Client.

Hope this is useful and thanks for posting!

    Hello

HP 6700 there the possibility to scan to an email without a computer such as the HP 8600 Pro?   Thank you.

    No,

Scanning to email option is a unique option for the Officejet Pro and laserjet on some models only.

I'm afraid, it is not available for the 6700 JO, you will need to use your PC or as a solution, you can plug a drive into the key and then analyze directly into it.

  • 6700 scan to email pdf

Hello, I am trying to use the scanning application to e-mail on my 6700. As well using photo or document option the result sent as an attachment to my email is a jpeg, or a PDF but it is unreadable.
    What have I done wrong?

    Hello stampante,.

I understand that when you try to use the scan to e-mail on your OfficeJet 6700 application, the attachment is unreadable. I would like you to go ahead and follow the steps below:

    1. analyze the file you want to send to your email address.

    2. once the file arrives in your email, SAVE it on your computer.

    3. go to the file that you saved, right click and go to Rename.

    4. When you rename ADD a .pdf or .jpeg at the end of the file name you chose during the analysis according to the option.

Now scanned attachments must be readable files, I hope that was helpful. Please let me know if you need more help.

    Hi @Nadajak,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I read your post about how you can not scan e-mail with your HP printer. I'm happy to help you!

    A few questions for you:

    • What type of printer HP do you have? example: HP Officejet 8600.

    • How is the printer connected, wireless, Ethernet or USB?

    • What iOS version do you use? http://www.whatsmyos.com

In the meantime, please try a hard reset by following the steps in this post, How to perform a hard reset, by @Rich1. It is important that the power cable from the printer is plugged directly into the wall outlet, not a surge protector.

  • OfficeJet 6700 Premium: after Windows 10 Upgrade on Officejet 6700 scanning does not work anymore - can not find scanner

    Hello

Having finally decided to take the plunge to upgrade to Windows 10, I discovered that my Officejet 6700 Premium previously peripheral work will scan is no longer.

My connection to the device is via a wired connection with a static IP address on the printer. It all worked perfectly under Windows 7, but now, I can only print to the printer to win 10.

I tried to uninstall the previously working software (under Win 7) and downloaded the latest version of the HP (OJ6700_1315 - 1.exe) software, which BTW is not a patch on the previous software that I'm used to using - but it did not help. Still no joy with the scanning feature.

I tried to uninstall all software, so I tried to launch the Wizard installation HP which seemed to re - install the last set of software (as above) with the same results - I can print it, but if I try to scan using the Officejet 6700 App it appears a dialog box saying "inaccessible Scanner. Scanner communication cannot be established. Make sure that your product is powered, check the connection and esnure that your network runs correctly. ...".  Amazing result given that the application displays all levels of printer ink, and I can print - every time!

I tried disabling the firewall - no difference, still do not see the scanner.

Tried using other windows applications; Paint, etc. - no joy.

I also tried the "HP Print Scan doctor and" nothing does - even, he gives up and says to contact HP support, with no details about what to tell them!

I hope someone else out there could have had the same problem and found a way to make it work?

    Thank you!

    Ok

In case anyone is interested, I bit the bullet and did a new install of Windows 10 on a formatted drive. I then installed the same software that I had tried on the "upgrade to Windows 7" windows, 10, and everything works as expected.

Therefore, there is definitely something wrong with the upgrade process, and the removal of the HP scanning software & resettlement never did his job correctly.

I look closely at the list of DLLs etc., charged by the printing software, but could not detect anything immediate.

Then, certainly in my case, a new facility was to solve this problem.

    See you soon,.

  • Officejet 6700 scanning settings

    OfficeJet 6700 Premium (Prod # CV078A) network (direct connection to the router). 1 = Win XP SP3 computer. computer 2 = WIN7 Pro SP1 32-bit;

A couple of questions about scanning. This printer has replaced an Officejet 6500 failure that has served me well for several years before suffering significant constipation of ink.

1 scanned files are much larger than those produced by my 6500. I adjusted the scanning parameters, including PDF (NOT available), B & W and size of file/quality under Advanced settings, the "smaller" value The file sizes are about 3 x what has been produced by using 6500 dpi (200). Any suggestions?

2 prerequisite software registered automatically scans as "Scan001", "Scan002", etc.. Current software requires to manually change the file name for each further analysis when scanning from the computer using the HP software. Is this correct feature? (If so, it is a step backwards.) See also 3 below. [Edit: point of Travis' 2 in response below deals with this issue - thanks!]

    3. scan of the computer (from the printer front panel) saves the file 'Scan0001', 'Scan0002', etc.  This works as expected. Why is this not implemented when using 2 above? (Or am I missing?).

Thanks in advance for the answer and enlightenment.

OK - downloaded Free Edition Paperscan v.1.8.3 and used the TWAIN driver to get the image of my Officejet 6700 using the document feeder. Registered 1 page file to PDF with dpi set at 200. File size is 22K. (Now, that's more like it.) Oh, and the quality of the image will appear better, too. [Edit: but see message below re.] NAPS2]

Same document 1 page using the old HP scanning, recorded as a simple pdf software with 200 dpi setting results in a file size of 177 K! 22 K vs 177 K - same, I can do that math.

Conclusion: there is something seriously wrong [ineffective/sloppy code] with the HP scanning software. (and I don't think they care)

    Recommendation: Fix it.

I have a new HP Officejet 6700. My operating system is Mac OS X v8.5.8.

I went to scan a document as a jpg file and it scanned and was recorded in my computer (wireless).

The problem is that all the documents have been enlarged during the process, therefore, only about 1/3 of the document is scanned. How can I reduce the scan so that the entire document (8 "x 10") is visible in the scanned jpg?

Also note that this enlargement is not the case when recording in pdf format, but the analysis is the only black and white, not the color of my document was. The scan jpg, although enlarged, was at least in color. Help! THX.

Use the built-in webserver (EWS) to set up scan to email.

    NOTE:

During the process of setting up profile, you may be prompted for the name of the SMTP server, SMTP port number or authentication information. You can contact the electronic/Internet mail service provider or system administrator to get the information. SMTP server names and the names of ports are usually easy to find by doing a search on the Internet. For example, to use terms like 'the gmail smtp server name' or 'the yahoo smtp server name' research.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8630: Officejet Pro 8630 don't Scan to Email after move to new office

We have recently moved offices and now we can not Scan to e-mail at work (he has worked great previously).

We are on a wireless network at the office and I can print fine, but no scan to E-mail.

I tried the settings via the web interface, I rebooted the router and the printer, I deleted all the accounts on the web interface and created a new, but it won't always work.

    Help?

    Hey @KBoyett,

Welcome to the Forum from HP Support.  I understand that you are unable to reconnect the scanning to e-mail, using your HP Officejet Pro 8630 e-all-in-one printer.  I would like to help.  I have a few steps, you can try that may fix this problem.

It is optimal that you have a wireless connection.  I do not recommend restoring the default settings of your printer to make sure that all old settings scan to e-mail are deleted from the printer.  Here's how:

    • From the front of your printer, press Setup
    • Touch Tools
    • Press restore defaults

This will clear your wireless network, Web services, and other custom printer settings.

    Then, follow these steps:

    • Connect to your wireless network (run Setup under wireless settings wireless Assistant)
    • Tap the copy icon on the lower left below to enable Web services
    • If your webservices are enabled you can now configure your scan to e-mail

There are two ways to Setup scan to e-mail:

Method: use the scan to e-mail Wizard to set up scan to email

Follow these steps to use scanning to e-mail Wizard in the HP software to set up the Email scanning function.

I had the wireless configuration.  Printer connect to my home wireless.

According to the security on the SMTP servers for the customer, you will have to go and try another account. I suggest to make a Gmail account and attempt to put in place the new feature.
