Satellite A200SE - Questions about upgrading the HARD drive

I am trying to upgrade the disk of 60 GB to 250 GB. The operating system is Windows Vista Business. The new drive is a Western Digital Scorpio SATA.

1 - image backup of the disk system external HARD using backup/restore Vista
2. use the system recovery disk to reload Windows.
3 - the disk is formatted and Windows installs apparently. (From recovery disk.)
4. after reboot, Setup is aborted with message saying (roughly) "Setup cannot continue because of the configuration".
5 - as usual the message gives no indication as to the cause.

All the tips and forums involve replacing drive HARD is simple. Does anyone have an idea?

Ideas would be very appreciated!

Hi scamp126,

I m wondering recovery disc doesn t work because usually this disk still works, you install a new HARD drive

What you can try is a Microsoft Windows disk. Perhaps that the recovery disk is scratched and the files can't be read properly.

• Satellite A50 543: Questions about upgrading the HARD drive

I'm looking to upgrade the internal hard disk on my A50 543 to 100 GB at 7200 RPM. The original drive is a Fujitsu 60GM 4200. I have found no information on the Internet on other readers line CMS that have been tested and found compatible with the A50. I need at least 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM to edit video.

Suppliers meet usually only with so many laptops on the market, they cannot test each hard drive with any laptop, but can tell if it is compatible with the specifications of the computer and the hard disk specifications and are so confident that their information is accurate that they offer a money back guarantee (excluding shipping costs)

My question is
(1) how can I be sure that the drive will work (considering the high international shipping costs) to 100%?

(2) none of the contributors to this forum may recommend a hard drive internal 5400 RPM or more it has installed on the same model specification?

Thank you. You are my last hope

Hello

If you want to be 100% sure that works on your HARD drive, so I think the best way is to contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. Here, you can order all the devices and parts compatible and supported.
I also found these Toshiba hard disks that must be compatible:
HDD2187B 20 GB 4 200
HDD2190B 40 GB 4 200
HDD2193 40 GB 5 400
HDD2189B 60 GB 4 200
HDD2194 60 GB 5 400
HDD2188B 80 GB 4 200
80 GB 5 400 HDD2191

In this case, you can use a disk HARD of GB 5 400 80 but I put t found no information about 100 GB of HARD drive.

• Satellite 1130: How to upgrade the HARD drive?

I want to spend the hard drive from my old laptop Satellite 1130. But the manual to write that it is fixed, could I ask if I can update and how to?

Thank you

Hello

HARD drive upgrade is possible on each unit. The HARD disk must be placed under the optical media drive. Optical media drive is fixed with a screw on the underside. Remove this screw and you will be able to opt out of the Bay.

HARD disk itself is fixed by four screws.

Please don't do anything if you n t have experience with it, because everything you do to yourself is at your own risk.

Good luck!

• Satellite M40: Question on formatting the HARD drive

Dear Toshiba

I have laptop satellite M40 and want to format that my HARD drive is it certain that the software used for Toshiba HDD format

Help, please

Hello

What HARD drive you want to format?
If you want to format the HARD disk where the operating system works you can do if you are recovering your operating system with the recovery CD. However, you can boot into DOS mode and there you can try to use the format command. Note: You will lose all your files!
Also if you want to format an external HARD drive or a second partition, please right click on this drive, then format

You can also use a magic of Partitions if you want to create partitions, change the size or format hard drives.

Good bye

• 2400-103: question about replacing the HARD drive

I'm trying to figure out how to replace my laptop HD. It is of a Satellite 2400-103. The HD is broken. I got it removed, but I'm not sure what to replace it with. Maybe a Toshiba MK - 3021 GAS, what can I get away with? Can I get a more general e.g. 40 GB storage device? Can I use a SATA device?
The broken HD that came out is a Hitachi DK23DA-30F, but I find it difficult to find a local supplier of this exact model.

Help, please.

Hi guy,

Your original drive is a 30 GB device, so you can replace it with a similar model from a different manufacturer and at the same time, to increase capacity (any where up to 80 GB should be fine according to your needs). I replaced my 30 GB with a Toshiba MK8025GAS drive there are many moons with no problems.

One thing to know the rotation speed. Your Hitach1 drive is 4 200 rpm and you could in theory use a disk with a faster rotation (5 400 or 7 200 RPM), but this can generate excessive heat when using a lot of the hard disk activity.

Kind regards

• Satellite A40 - question about upgrading the processor

If I upgrade my Satellite A40 processor with hyper-threading technology to 3 .00GHz, the problem s s don't past not my chipset for hypo threads, should I have a problem on my terms of portable?...

Hello

If you open your notebook and do something about yourself, you will lose your warranty.

Just FYI; the processors used in laptops are connected to the motherboard using a process called TCP (tape carrier package). It is a method of permanent connection and is used in the interest of miniaturization and heat dissipation. As far as I know because of this method of connection, upgrade the CPU is not possible.

Good luck!

• Ask about upgrading the hard drive for X230T

Hello world

My post here so apologies if an error. I have a model x230T 3434-CTO (fairly old )

It has 180 GB SSD drive, which is quite less and I intend to improve it with a larger capacity SSD. I researched and found that my options are

(1) normal SATA III SSD as samsung 840 evo
http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-evo-Series-2-5-inch-MZ-7TE250BW/DP/B00E3W1726 [/ URL]

(2) mSATA SSD like Samsung MZMTE512HMHP 512 GB mSATA SSD Solid slate Drive Mini PCI - E mSATA
http://www.Amazon.com/PM851-Internal-Solid-State-Drive/DP/B00HWI56DE [/ URL]

I'm not an expert in hardware and need advice from members here. My query is these 2 types of ssd compatible with my X 230 model (model x230T 3434-CTO) and are there any specification of ssd, I must keep in mind while making the order. ?

I plan to buy one 512 GB mSATA and I already 180 GB normal intel SSD on the laptop.

Concerning
TREX

Welcome to the forum!

The SSD/HDD in the Bay of 'main' should be 7mm, it is one thing to keep in mind.

As regards mSATA - you can choose any one you want - and your current choice seems to be a reasonable, although I've never personally used the disk in question.

FWIW, I have a 80 GB Intel mSATA in my X220T as boot drive and a 500 GB HDD classic in the Bay of 'main' for the data.

Happy update.

• Satellite A100-237, which is the HARD drive more big, I can install?

Hello!
Can you guys help me. I have the Satellite A100-237
I would like to buy a new HARD drive (250 GB or 320).
What is the largest HARD drive can I install in this laptop? I couldn't find any info about it.
Thanks for your help.

Hello

The point is that there are no details or info on HARD drive sizes compatible max.
If we can only speculate.
Is the laptop seems to support SATA hard drives and in my opinion one 250 GB or more should work.
But this is only a personal opinion, and it would be very interesting to know if a HDD 320 would work too.

Please post some comments after you have upgraded the HARD drive.

See you soon

• upgrade the hard drive on Presario 17XL365

Inherited this machine recently and I was wondering if I can upgrade the hard drive.  He got a Hitachi DK23BA-15 which is ATA - 66.  But I read that the chipset of the motherboard will be ' interface with ATA/66 hard drives in UDMA 2 mode "-a description of the site intel (North 82443BX/South 82371EB).  Intel® 440BX AGPset.

So my question is, any laptop drive ide or eide will work with this?  Or I need to find a player who is specificially ATA-66.  Any info on the momentum and the size limitations would also be appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

It's a record of 4200 RPM 15 gigabytes. You can use any portable player of up to 120 gig eide, but not anymore. Anyway, you would benefit from a rotational speed of 5400 RPM which is what you can find in the market these days, but will not improve your ATA - 66 maximum transfer speed. The most recent ATA - 100 or 133 readers interfacera just at the speed of 66 but faster speed of rotation of the drive will always access same time help lower transfer speed if that makes sense.

The number of ATA - 66 is just the maximum theoretical speed, which you reach rarely, in any case.

• Can satellite M70-337 - I put the HARD drive?

Hi all,.

I have a Satellite M70-337, the vehicle currently has 40 GB of hard drive. The laptop has served me well and I want to upgrade the hard drive 100 GB +, anyone has done this?

If Yes please advise on the type of hard drive required and their availability. I have 2 GB of RAM and want to run Windows 7 on this computer.

Hey mate,

Of course you can upgrade the HARD drive why not? :)

AFAIK Equium M70 already use hard drives with Serial ATA interface. This means that you must buy a 2.5 HARD drive with this interface.
For example, a 120 GB model should work!

In my view, it is irrelevant, what type (manufacturing) that you choose. There is no major differences, but I have good experiences with Western Digital.

• Upgrade the hard drive or consider a new ThinkPad?

Hello

I have an IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad R51e with a 40 GB hard drive. I'll soon be at the limit of ability, and I think to upgrade the hard drive.

My laptop is under warranty until May 2009, says I guess some of you maybe understand my dilemma. Even the technology IBM says it was a difficult call. He suggested an external drive, but I really wanted to do as it would go against how I personally use my laptop.

He gave me a 80 GB hard drive part number 13N6709 (it is the biggest hard drive I can go internally with the R51e) which will cost me $261,00

I tried looking for answers to these questions, but the more I read more my head began to spin.

There are a few questions (with the help of the people in this forum) I'm eager to know before investing more money in this laptop.

Do I need other parts to install the new HDD?

The Pro Windows XP was preinstalled by IBM/Lenovo. It will recognize my serial number to install it?

All my recovery disks will still work with the new hard drive? Or do I have to buy a new game?

I'd be better to just buy a new laptop?

If, therefore, for those knowing what are the features that are on the R51e IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad would get the most bangs for the bucks?

I'd appreciate really no knowledge that any of you can give me.

Sincerely,

Kat

• Upgrade the hard drive or the new laptop

I currently own a mid-2010 Macbook Pro that works well (Apple store ran all the checks and he said everything was good), but there almost six years and I don't want to die any time soon (I need a laptop for school). I do not use the mac for something other than Microsoft Office, several tabs on browser, iTunes and occasionally streaming of netflix (just the basics, no game or something serious). Someone has advice or comments on what would be best? And if upgrading the hard drive seems to be a good option, does anyone have good recommendations?

Here are the specs of my Mac:
-Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor
-Memory: 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
-Hard drive: 500 GB storage

In addition, Yosemite (10.10.5) running on the machine without any problem even if it is sometimes slow.

Thank you!

Use it as it is. Why update the drive? If you run lack of storage space on the disk, delete some files or get an external drive and move some files on the external drive. Make sure that you back up your data.

Hello

You can certainly move to a 750 GB 5400 RPM HARD drive, a 1 TB would also be possible, but it is not listed as a compatible hdd in a service guide. After a reset, the laptop will be in the same condition that you used for the first time (OS preinstalled). The recovery partition is going to be on the hard drive as well. Size is not too large, I think that it would be up to 15-20 GB...

• Failure to upgrade the hard drive T30 - blinking cursor - will not progress

I have trouble to upgrade the hard drive on my Thinkpad T30.

I'm trying to upgrade a 40 GB hard drive to a hard drive of 250 GB.  (New drive is the EVE of Western Digital WD Scorpio 2500 b)

I used the Western Digital Lifeguard Tools to clone the drive.  Unfortunately, when I insert the new drive in the computer, booting stops and is at the level of the blinking cursor.

I used the tools of Lenovo's PC to test everything.

I have used Western Digital Lifeguard Tools to check the hard drive.

I've updated my Bios and embedded controller program.

When I start the computer and press F1 to access the Bios, the sign more shows next to the hard drive.  I understand that this means that the Bios recognizes the hard drive.

I went into Setup to choose the hard drive as the boot device, but the computer still hangs at the level of the blinking cursor.

When the new hard drive is connected to the computer by usb in an external case, it shows that the contents of the old drive is copied to the new drive.

What should I do now to solve this problem and get the computer to boot from the new drive?

A program, often recommended by the ortegeluis is Easeaus Disk Copy freeware that can help you.
