  Some models are supported 64-bit Windows, then maybe you should choose an another A300 models because they are similar, in my opinion. So try it and post your result. The Vista drivers are working on Windows 7.

  Satellite U400D supports only 32-bit Vista and Vista64 because Toshiba driver download page I can only find drivers for these versions of Windows.

  So you should be happy with the operating system preinstalled because U400D is fast enough for Windows Vista. It should work fine with Vista.

  In addition it s your choice if you install Windows 7 x 64 or x 86. Some older applications may work not properly on the 64 bit OS. So it s according to the applications you run.
  But I'm going to buy Windows 7 64 bit because I have an old system with Windows XP where I can run my old applications.

  Unfortunately, I couldn't find win Xp drivers on the Toshiba driver page. Perhaps, you need to install Win 7 32 bit. The drivers are available, it is really good Os, however, I didn't like it for the 1st time. :) If you don't want to install it, you should try Win Xp drivers for other models.
