Satellite A500 - cannot rename files Windows 7

Hi all

I am running Win7 on laptop Satellite A500.

I'm renaming of windows files I downloaded. When I right click on a file to Rename dialog box is black until I throw the slider down there. Then I see the options. File name was also just a line through it, again until I clicked, revealing the name of file.

Also as soon as it started to happen if I click on the tab start menu pop is in all directions with a few options in part showing or missing all together.

Can you please help?

Hello

I don't know if this can help you, go to the, appearance and personalization, choose folder options, tap on restore default settings on the tab general and view and then apply.

If you use Internet Security of Trend Micro with Windows 7, this combination is probably what is causing the problem.

To fix this, open the main Trend Micro Internet Security (or similar). Open the Virus & Spyware controls. Choose the Protection against viruses & Spyware; Click settings, then advanced settings. Uncheck the box next to 'save files before you try to remove the virus '.

  • Satellite A500 - cannot find the display drivers for Windows 7

    I can't find the video drivers for Satellite A500 - 1 c 0, P/N: PSAR3E for Windows 7 x 86.

I tried on the Nvidia site, they recommended the manufacturer's website...

    Hello

Normally, you can get all the drivers here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

I checked this and it seems that for the moment no are no 32 bit Windows 7 drivers available.

What you can do now is looking for other display drivers. Maybe an another Toshiba laptop has the same graphics card and it has Windows 7 drivers released.
Otherwise, you can try the 32-bit drivers for Vista. Normally, they also work on Windows 7.

  • Satellite A500 - very low micro - Windows 7

I just bought a Satellite A500-026 and although I increased the gain and the boost to the microphone up and turned on and off modes of noise control three microphone, the microphone performance is very low and essentially unusable unless we talk very loud.

This happens with the provided standard registration program webcam and Skype. Note that the laptop came with Windows 7 installed.

As I am 500 km the nearest reseller, can anyone who has an A500 comment on the 'power' of the microphone in their experience.

My Bluetooth headset and MIC work fine, but it's a pain to have a webcam made marginal by running poorly built in microphone.

    Thank you
    John

It is the same on older models of laptops. You simply have to come close to the microphone.
For this reason, I always use headset and people who I talk to hear me perfectly.

You know, this built-in microphones are not so perfect and you can't expect better performance and compare it with standard headphones.

  • Satellite L40 - cannot read with Windows XP SDHC cards?

    Hello

last year, I bought a Satellite L40 series and a Windows Vista has been installed on it. I found that everything worked properly.

Since then, I found that Windows Vista is slower than XP, I upgraded to Windows XP and I installed all the drivers manually. Everything works fine until I found that I can read only SD card with the Ricoh card reader on my laptop. With Windows Vista, he could read SD and SDHC.

Like all of my files saved to the SDHC, I really want to solve this issue.

I detected on the computer that is my card reader equipment:

Ricoh Memory Stick Host controller (1.0.2.5)
    Ricoh MMC Host COntroller (1.0.0.9)
    Ricoh XD-Picture Card Host Controller (1.00.02.08 / 6.0.1.13)

    The questions are:
    1. the drive to read SDHC card with the Windows XP platform?
    2. If Yes, what should I do with it? Maybe I need to install a new driver? (If Yes, where can I find it?)

Thank you for your concern. I'm really happy if you can help me solve this issue.

    Best regards
    Jenny

    Hello

You may notice yellow exclamation in Device Manager?

Normally, the Satellite L40 can read SDHC cards up to 8 GB so my question is have you tried different brands of SDHC cards?
I have good experiences with Kingston and SanDisk cards.

In addition, you should check the Web from Toshiba site for an update of the card reader:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

Last but not least you have installed all the Service Packs and updates for Windows?

  • Satellite A500-1GL - power of Windows 7 and the games options

    Hi all

Some know maybe my previous posts about my problem with the fan on my Satellite A500-1GL worry when I'm online game. It is disturbing to hit the 90%. And his pass even with the update of the BIOS and Toshiba now advise to do a factory restore then fails to send in for repair.
    Looking at the power options,

I was wondering if someone could recommend this power options I should consider and it would have made no difference for the wise game fan (secondlife seems to be the main problem with the fan turn the crank to the top)

Any help would be appreciated, trying to think of something that might help which may be a simple solution to this problem of fan
    Torti :)

    Hello

To be honest, a lot of activity of fan during the games would be normal I think because games need a lot of CPU and GPU power, they always run at a very high level. This means a lot of heat will occur and it must be cooled to avoid damage.

Of more if I have the games, it s not important how the fan noise creates because I hear music or dialogue game Isn t it so? ;)

In any case, from time to time it s advisable to clean the cooling system of your laptop using a jet of compressed air:
[How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]

And for games, you can use high power option or balanced Windows Performance.

  • Re: Satellite A500 - cannot install on Vista x 64 VAP

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 L 00, 00 with Vista x 64. When I installed SP2 I had to disable all the services of the "msconfig", but when I turned back, the Fn key stopped working and some of the buttons touch too.
So I tried to install the added value package, but when I run the Setup, the installer suddenly disappeared after one or two screens of ms - dos Black Watch.

    So I can't install it!
    Help, please!

    Hello

Verify that all services in msconfig have been activated after the installation of VAP.
Otherwise, you need a system restore that allowed the recovery of HARD drive and you need to restore the phone to factory settings.

  • Satellite A500 - cannot update the BIOS (error message)

    Hello

    I have a PSAR3A - 02U002 Satellite A500 with BIOS version 1.9 is installed.

After reading several forums, I discovered that there may be a BIOS (v2.0) update available to resolve the current problem, these Satellites have with overheating cooling switch down.

Excited, I have tried to install the new BIOS - this is what I get:

"There is an error occurred, please check below the elements."
    BIOS version more than 200.
    Battery capacity more than 10%.
    AC is fixed. »

First of all, my BIOS version is 190, no more than 200. Second, I find it very difficult to believe that the battery must be less than 10%. And third, I don't see what that remove the power supply cable will do.

Please note that this update of the BIOS found on Toshiba's European website, but v2.0 claims to be a worldwide release. I then checked on the Australian site and there is no BIOS for my model. I don't know how to interpret this contradiction.

    Help, please!

    Hi umm_excuse_me,

So I think that BIOS update is not available at this time for you. European and Australian models have different model numbers, so I doubt that the update of the BIOS is always the same. The pieces of equipment may also be different.

In your case, I would wait until the BIOS was released on the page Australian too.

By the way: where did you read that this update was release in the world?

  • Satellite A500 - cannot install Windows 7

Hello, I have a toshiba A500 and I am trying to install windows 7 but I can't go to step one because it does not recognize the dvd drive:
"A required CD/DVD driver missing player.
I have read a few forums, and if I could find the drivers, I think I'd be able to fix it with a pen.

So where can I find the? I went to download drivers toshiba but I don't see any por driver for Vista...

    Hello!

I m a bit confused at the moment because you try to install Windows 7, but then you have written on that Windows 7 doesn't t detect the CD/DVD drive.

I mean, normally, you must boot from the Windows 7 installation disc and follow the instructions on the screen.
The CD/DVD driver is part of the operating system and can t be updated or something else.

Maybe the Windows 7 disc isn t working properly so can you install another OS, such as Toshiba Recovery disk?

    Good bye

  • Satellite M30X: Cannot add i386 Windows components

    Hi guys

I'm having a problem with my Satellite M30X laptop because it does not read in folder i386 to the hard drive, when I try to add Windows components. I only got a recovery DVD with my PC, so I can't try to use a Windows XP Edition family normal drive, as I do not have.

It might be worth mentioning that I've updated the hard drive in my laptop, using some HDD cloning software called Paragon Drive Backup Personal 8.

It has some impact, in order to cause the problem I am experiencing?

    Hello

On the restore CD, you will find only the image files. It s CD not similar as an original CD of Windows.
To my knowledge you always the original Windows CD if you want to install all additional Windows that were not installed on the HARD drive components.
So I assume that the components are not placed in the folder i386 therefore, you cannot use it.

    Hi Bob

Please don t get me wrong, but described issue has nothing to do with Toshiba directly. I hope that someone here will be able to help, but I think you should contact technical support Microsoft or Sony to check what they say on this subject.

I put t know what external Sony legacy that you use but Sony usually offers additional software for the own products.

Very interesting article on Sony ARW files you can find HERE

  • Cannot rename files

I have some difficulty of renaming of files within a foldder. I can right click to highlight, but it does allow me to retype a new name. Strangely, although I can do this on a folder on my desktop.

I tried a restore to an earlier time, but that did not work.

I'd appreciate it if anyone had some ideas on how to solve.

    Thank you

    Ralph

Here is an article on how to solve the problem of not being able to rename or move folders in Vista: http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/unable-to-rename-or-move-folders-in-windows-vista/.

The last post in this thread contains a link to the program that supposedly fixes the problem (although I have not tried) editing of registry: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista/626307-windows-vista-unable-rename-folders.html

Before making one of the procedures above, back up your registry just to be on the safe side.  Here's how: http://www.adamsdvds.co.uk/tutorials/vista/regedit/backup.php.

If those who do not work, it is probably a question of ownership or permissions.  Give yourself full rights in the folder (and perhaps records parent if the permissions are inherited as described in the Advanced section) and also take possession of it.  Then you should be able to rename it.  Here are some procedures to help you:

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.  To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

Good luck and I hope that one of these solutions help!
