Satellite A500 - rattling noise

Hey guys,.

I ve bought my A500 a month ago and since I got it, there is a small click on the right side, then where is the Num-Lock button.
I Don t think it s HARD drive because it is not a permanent by clicking, it's like * click * seconds later * click * and so on...
I heard that NHC (Notebook Hardware Control) should solve the problem, but I have windows 7 64 bit and the NHC doesn´t work under this version.
So guys do you have an idea what I can do to stop it by clicking on? :)

Sorry for my English but I m from Germany ;)

Hello

> I Don t think it s HARD drive because it is not one clicking permanent, its similar in a few seconds click and so on

As I know, only the hard drive can make rattling noise in laptop computers.

Do not wait and go to AEP (SAV) which you can find here:

  • No noise from the multimedia keys on Satellite A500

Hello I have same problem as in the topic here:

    https://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=64595&TSTART=150

I do the same thing as the egold70 user (re install VAP and SCCF) and the problem is partly in trouble.

Now all the extra button (eco, light on/off) works fine, but there is no sound on the buttons.
When I reboot laptop there is a sound at first: they blink and do a "beeep" but after I play music or anything like that that make the 'sounds' (like the sound of incoming mail or something) the buttons become silent, they only Flash.

I reinstall the sound drivers that did not help, funny because when the miusic plays constantly they make a noise when I turn off miusic after a few seconds, they became silent. When I do Fn + ESC (mute on / off), there is a sound like at the start, but as I say, until some other 'noise' is played and they become silent. It's boring to FN + ESC again and again.

    Anyone can help with this?

  • Satellite A500: update BIOS V1.50 is fan noise problem reappears

I have a Toshiba Satellite A500 with fan noise problem.
It has been partially resolved the upgrade of BIOS from v1.20 to v1.30, according to this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46719&start=0&TSTART=0

Yesterday I updated the BIOS v1.50, and the sound of the fan returned.
I do not recommend this upgrade if you have had the problem of fan noise.

I have downgrade BIOS v1.30 and fan noise problem is solved again.
I know that people have problems to get the downgrade to BIOS, so I describe the process in this thread:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=50577&TSTART=0

Thanks mate for sharing this with us

But perhaps you could use the v1.5 BIOS and could reduce or reduce the activity of module cooling in Vista/Win7 power management settings.
It would be interesting to check it out

In any case thank you for this info

  • Satellite A500 - very low micro - Windows 7

I just bought a Satellite A500-026 and although I increased the gain and the boost to the microphone up and turned on and off modes of noise control three microphone, the microphone performance is very low and essentially unusable unless we talk very loud.

This happens with the provided standard registration program webcam and Skype. Note that the laptop came with Windows 7 installed.

As I am 500 km the nearest reseller, can anyone who has an A500 comment on the 'power' of the microphone in their experience.

My Bluetooth headset and MIC work fine, but it's a pain to have a webcam made marginal by running poorly built in microphone.

    Thank you
    John

It is the same on older models of laptops. You simply have to come close to the microphone.
For this reason, I always use headset and people who I talk to hear me perfectly.

You know, this built-in microphones are not so perfect and you can't expect better performance and compare it with standard headphones.

  • Satellite A500-1E4 (PSAR9E) - noisy fan stops is never (BIOS version 1.60)

Hello from the Czech Republic, I have also problem with noisy fan on my new Satellite A500-1E4 (PSAR9E) (i430M, GT330M) on 64-bit Windows 7 over Office Standard - see http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=46719&start=165&tstart=0.

Today I have updated the bios to 1.60 (from 1.20) and there has been no change. When the laptop powered to the top of the adapter in all modes the fan is running at 60-70% (sometimes at 90% - my office is perhaps quieter :-(). What laptop power battery in normal fashion fan and high performance race to 60-70% (loud sound) and in the economy mode to 80% (very noisy). It's crazy that in economic mode produce more noise than mode high performance. The CPU temperature is cca. 37-43 C, GPU 48-57. Fans of course never stops and all it's standart office. No intensive work or games. I can't imagine in games.

Can someone help me please, I'm really helpless. Or this fixes only bios 1.30 and next version not?

    Hey Buddy,

I think that it of really difficult to say why this happens, but in my opinion you should provide more details about your operating system and drivers.
Are you running the Toshiba factory settings or you have installed another OS?
Fan sometimes high activity is due to a different display driver. Have you installed the latest display driver form Toshiba (NOT nvidia)?

Old BIOS versions, you can get an authorized service provider

  • Satellite A500-1GL - power of Windows 7 and the games options

    Hi all

Some know maybe my previous posts about my problem with the fan on my Satellite A500-1GL worry when I'm online game. It is disturbing to hit the 90%. And his pass even with the update of the BIOS and Toshiba now advise to do a factory restore then fails to send in for repair.
    Looking at the power options,

I was wondering if someone could recommend this power options I should consider and it would have made no difference for the wise game fan (secondlife seems to be the main problem with the fan turn the crank to the top)

Any help would be appreciated, trying to think of something that might help which may be a simple solution to this problem of fan
    Torti :)

    Hello

To be honest, a lot of activity of fan during the games would be normal I think because games need a lot of CPU and GPU power, they always run at a very high level. This means a lot of heat will occur and it must be cooled to avoid damage.

Of more if I have the games, it s not important how the fan noise creates because I hear music or dialogue game Isn t it so? ;)

In any case, from time to time it s advisable to clean the cooling system of your laptop using a jet of compressed air:
[How to clean a Toshiba laptop cooling system? | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=40]

And for games, you can use high power option or balanced Windows Performance.

  • Satellite A500 - beep 4 times every few minutes

    Hello

Lately, I have some problems with my Satellite A500. When they surf the net (or), I feel a noise (light / not very strong but boring) from the right upper end of my laptop computer (hard drive?).

The problem is bleeps 4 times in a row, freezes for 2-3 seconds (no response in the browser), and is then followed by another noise (like another short, click in the material). Then the system works again. This is often repeated once every one or two minutes.

Would be great if someone has an opinion.

    Hey Buddy,

This means that you may notice only the beeps in Windows?

Well, it's really hard to say something on this sometimes question so in your case, I recommend restoring the Toshiba Recovery disk factory settings.

Usually with these settings should work fine because it s tested by Toshiba.
If this is not the case, contact an authorized service provider. Guys should check the material to find errors and that only professionals.

    Good luck!

This is my first toshiba laptop... and my last for sure!

    Hello

One of my friends has a satellite A500 model and it s working properly.
Games works correctly because it uses a downloaded newest graphics from various pages driver, he said.
In addition, the laptop might restart automatically due to the heat from the CPU or GPU. So it of needed to check if the cooling fans are free of dust and the race with the best performance.

    > was a previous assignment (using the world and access) when my laptop froze and the blue screen of death appeared (if only as a FEW months old)
BSODS can happen always. In most cases, it could be a software related issue, but of course it could also be a hardware problem. If the BSOD will always appear, then you should get in touch with a local ASP.

    > Fan was sovled after 6 months with a simple update of the BIOS, speaker noise exists and not Toshiba support! When I wrote an email to ASP, they said just send back, but there exists WITH THE A500, so it is not a speciel issue!
I put t think the problem appears on the A500. As mentioned the A500 from my friend works ok.

    PS: I read in another thread that some people might solve a sound crackling question change settings;

  • Satellite A500-1GL - graphic card problem and overheating

    TOSHIBA SATELLITE A500-1GL - I almost year.
Already, the first problem appeared immediately after the purchase.
After a telephone conversation with the service and install some problem driver disappeared but unfortunately it was another, computer laptop start overheating especially on games but evan on movies more make strange noise.
I ve already used about 7 different cooling pads but none of them helped, I change the fan settings, cleaning by compressed air did not help at all.

Is there a way I can fix this?

Should I send it to Toshiba as it is still under warranty?

Can you please tell us what is the first problem?
To be honest, you should let Toshiba service to check this and give you 100% of mobile working.

What you want to do? If the same symptoms are there even if laptop with factory settings, I think it is certainly the issue of guarantee.

  • Hard drive makes a weird cracking / Satellite A500

    Hello

I have a fairly new Toshiba Satellite A500 (2 months) and for about 2 weeks, it is difficult to start making a cracking noise (a kind of click hear you when the player load something)... He had never done before. Many drive hard making the sound of crackling, I know, but what I find strange is that sometimes both...

I did a lot of testing with different software, defragmentation, clean, SMART analysis, space remaining... and everything is OK. I'm really not see the problem.
May be an indication, noise appeared shortly after I installed GTA 4.

I would like to know if you also had this problem, or if you know how to solve. The hard drive still works fine, there is only this new sound that starts to irritate me...

    Thank you

PS: I'm French, I hope that I didn't too many mistakes...
my hard drive is a Toshiba 500 GB mk5055gsx.

    Hi Renan

In front of me, I have Satellite A500-157. I don't know which is HARD drive inside (manufacturer), but HARD DRIVE works alone and without some strange noises.
On this path, it is not easy to say with certainty if the HARD disk is defective, but you can at any time you want the closest contact Toshiba service provider and ask for help. They can check the HARD disk and discuss with you what may be the problem.

From my experience, I know when HDD makes some clicking noisy it can be the end of the HARD drive.
Maybe you should back up all your data. ;)
Just to be sure... you know what I mean.

  • Satellite A500-ST6644 reviews

I filled out a list of characteristics of mobile at http://forum.notebookreview.com/what-notebook-should-i-buy/484100-selecting-asus-notebook.html#4

I don't do any game or scientific computing, CPU performance requirements are modest. I'll especially make surfing and document review/creation (M$ office, Word, Powerpoint, Visio, etc.), the movie streaming occasional (maybe YouTube). A friend type IT was suggested to go for an i3 prolong the life of a battery charge. Presumably, he didn't suggest architectures earlier because I'm hoping to keep this laptop for many years. I don't know, maybe some compatibility issues on the road, or perhaps the new architecture is more energy efficient.

My last laptop has a 14 "screen and wasn't as flat and wider than the elongation of today. It's the perfect balance between the desktop replacement and portability (this will be my only computer). However, my friend also suggested Blu Ray, who for the most part does not exist for screens smaller than 15.6 ". Although I don't really like Blu ray right now, I think it is very plausible that in five years, he could dominate DVD. I'm going to target Blu Ray for 15.6 ".

The friend suggested at least 4 GB of RAM. For my simple uses, I was wondering if there was any point in going still higher.

To avoid the limitations of looking to the future, I'll go for 64-bit Windows 7 Professional. I'm also going to install Windows XP Mode (available for free for Windows 7 Professional) in order to run legacy as Palm Desktop 4.1.4 32-bit applications. Focus groups indicate that it allows synchronization with a PDA Palm connected through the USB port.

Of course, I'll replace this PDA in the near future, but do not know when, or what. I need the XP Mode as insurance (and in the case of other legacy applications need
It). on the USB port, I would look for USB 2.0, which is pretty much standard. My friend mentioned a SDHC port for one I can own devices, but this seems rare for laptops (unlike the SD). I'll take an external drive if necessary.

Initially, I decided on ASUS K52F/K52JR but I met information on persistent and widespread noise due to the interaction between a coil inductance on the motherboard with the processor in mode:
    http://www.Google.com/URL?SA=D&q=http://VIP.ASUS.com/Forum/view.aspx%3Fid%3D20100207170443781%26board_id%3D3% 26model % 3DK52JR % 26page %3 D 1 & usg = AFQjCNGWXInTC81dJfF M5JqT5sAslPCF0g

    Now, I've explored Toshibas 15-16 "to http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/laptops.to
I have found only one model that can be configured to meet any desired characteristics: Satellite A500-ST6644
    http://www.toshibadirect.com/TD/B2C/cdetland.to?poid=467918.

If you have comments on this election for the fixed criteria, I salute them. They could be personal or experience that you hear on the vine.

In addition, comments are welcome on if bluetooh will take off. It's a pain to try to get this feature later.

Finally, a local issue: is there a retailer in Ottawa, the Canada, who can get this model?

You posted a lot and all these links are therefore useless to me. Who should read some Asus forums?

My opinion on all of this:
I think that Satellite A series sold more portable Toshiba worldwide. This model is definitely designed for each day's work as well as for some multimedia features.
As I see you want to buy new notebook and use it more often at home, right?
Also, you want to have for a long period of time, right?

I think Satellite is good choice, but if the money is not that important to you I recommend getting some info on the new Qosmio F60. It is also very beautiful mobile multimedia. You can use it for every day of work, but the hardware is more powerful and you're ready for the future. We can expect that You Tube and many new video channels online will offer better quality and best video, which means that we must have more powerful graphics performance on our laptops. Because of this, I think Qosmio F60 is much better choice.

I know it costs more money but if you want to have the laptop great for the next 5 years I do not think that a few hundred dollars in prizes make a big difference.

    Please note:
New laptops are designed for Windows7 and all laptops with good material are delivered with the 64-bit only operating system, so there is no support for 32-bit or old operating systems like Windows XP Home edition.
Check this before ordering new notebook.

You can also talk to your local dealer, check online offers to the Canada and buy an A500 and test it for a few days to see whether or not you will be satisfied. In the worst case you can send it back and check the other model.
