Satellite A655-11Z - overheating problems

Ive had my laptop since November and for the last 5 months his serious overheating problems suffered. Initially, it was all game, but during the last 3 months, it happens when im on a webcam chat or Facebook. The fan is constantly on full, even when I run a cooler under it.

I know 2011 models were recalled due to a problem of chipset, but the mine has not been included.

Anyone who suffers from this? Or if someone can shine a light on what could be the issue. Its quite annoying for a laptop of £1300 to do.

Thank you

Hello

I could imagine there is a lot of dust in your notebook that blocks air outcomoing and if your laptop is overheating. This not uncommon, if you n t s cleaned up in the last 5 months

You can use normal compressed air jet to blow the dust from the cooling fans. That is why it s not necessary to disassemble the computer, so it can be done in 5 minutes.

Laptop needs to be cleaned all 3-4 months, and from my own experience, I can tell that a lot of dust comes out if I do this. The laptop runs much quieter after the cleaning procedure.

  • Satellite L505-13F - overheating problem?

    Hello

Nearly a year after the purchase of a Toshiba Satellite L505-13F, I started noticing problems with temperature (it starts goes to 70º, sometimes more, hitting 89º), even had the computer just turned off (not the right way through the windows, instead, in an instant, it's on, the other is off when it hits 90 degrees). I bought a cooling rack to keep the computer at low temperatures, but the position is not so good and temperatures get brought to 60º at best, but does not solve the problem temporarily.

Usually, I have Skype (normally I'm not on a call so the cpu is not dope, but I the ocasional call), msn, irc, have a program to check emails regularly (thunderbird) and have firefox open. Maximum CPU spikes or 32% with all these open (normally this is 9 to 14% or more), so I don't think it's any problem related to the massive processing (but like anything else, sometimes it stings to the largest percentage, but not so much that, nor for as long). I use all these at the same time. Because of the temperature problem, I installed an app to regularly check the State of the system.

The problem is internally in the computer, I guess it's maybe because the fan is stuck or something. I clean the dust when it's time, but it also solves the problem temporarily (I do not open the housing of the computer, however, because it is under warranty and I don't want to void the warranty or break the computer). I would like to find a more permanent solution without having to buy anything else I don't think it's the right solution for the problem.

The computer was purchased in 2010 and the warranty is 2 years, so I guess it's possible to send the computer to fix, but I'm not aware of the procedure of this situation.

After showing the problem, the question is: what are the steps required to check this problem? I have to send the laptop to the store (where I bought it) to send to toshiba or what I need to send it to me?

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

PS: I'm an advanced user, I do a lot of things with the computer, but I can survive a few days without computer (maybe: P)

Dust and debris are the main reasons why the laptop overheats. Dust inside the cooling modules prevent fans turn faster which affect the cooling and leads to a higher temperature.
So, as you said; withdrawal of aid of dust that you and this should be made from time to time.

It is a temporal solution for you, you say? Hmm, I do not know how you want to use the laptop is a room free of dust? Only this would prevent the dust of cooling modules.

I have to clean my laptop using a jet of compressed air. This allows and does not affect my warranty.

  • Satellite x 205-overheating problems

Hello, I have recently had problems with my Satellite X 205 get well over 80 C 74 C while playing games and Idle.

I solved the problem for several days of cleaning of dust on the computer with compressed air can. Unfortunately, the problem has increased again but this time simply by using the box made it worse! I think I can have done the fans in the spin of the laptop to fast and now they can't turn at all! If you turn the laptop upside down on the left there is a visible fan that i can see works, but on the side right, there is no grid, and I do not see the fan. If I place my hand on the grid, I can feel hot air coming from the laptop so im thinking the fan can work properly BUT the laptop is IDLE at 74 ° C! He never went more than 72 c when I played games in the chart now complete its just climbing! IM afraid even open any additional programs due to the heat already.

Also please not I have the laptop sitting on a TARGUS CHILLMAT and STILL so HOT! Maybe I blew dust in the CPU box? MaybeIi must disassemble the casing 100% to check? I do not know how to get to the CPU, I know only how take off plates on the bottom and I DON'T want TO VOID MY WARRANTY Please HELP!

    > I DON'T WANT TO VOID MY WARRANTY PLEASE HELP!
Clear and reasonable statement, but be honest what can you do? Not much. You can simply place your laptop so that the vents are not blocked. If you face this problem in the future maybe service can help.

Another question: have you installed a third party graphics driver or you use Toshiba stuff only?

  • Satellite A110-225 overheating problem

    Hello

I would like to know if there is a known issue with this model for the CPU overheating and if there is a solution for this. I have this laptop for over a year now and I used to have the toshiba tecra A1. When I got this laptop, it is very noisy compared to my old tecra.

I can not even put my laptop on a flat surface like a table! I have to put something underneath to raise the laptop so that air can circulate better. But this isn't a way to work with your laptop!

When I use the laptop for a 7-8 hours straight (nothing special IE, torrent, etc.), the CPU fan starts to blow very quickly and from a certain point, it stop by itself. I'm guessing its because the temperature of the CPU is to reach the maximum temperature and avoid dammage, it stops.

I am very disappointed with the management of the heat of this product. I love the screen, I like the design, the performance is OK for me, but the heatsink has really let me down.

Is there a solution to this, rather than "oh just clean your heat sink"... I did not helped at all. "

    Welcome them

    Hello

As much as I know Satellite A110 is not the latest model cell phone and as I see use you it pretty intensively. The fact is that sucking cooling fan in a lot of dust in the laptop and the dust blocks cooling rack.

To clean properly the laptop must be disassembled and I am wondering how you cleaned your heat sink. Clean, turn it on in a professional way and you will see that laptop cooling fan runs much more slowly and you will not overheat issues more.

Sorry, buddy, but this is your first option, you need to do. I don't really understand what answer or the solution you expect in this situation. What is the alternative? To install software and force the cooling fan to run faster than before? What do you think?

  • Re: Satellite L350-PSLE8E - overheating problem

I bought in November 2008 two model laptops TOSHIBA L350-PSLE8E 01J003GR by Metro Dornbirn.

In a notebook, I have the problem that it stop suddenly for several months. But it can also run several weeks without problem.
Even if the laptop is directly on the desktop and vents are not covered, the laptop has how overheating - it stops immediately.

After a cooling period, it starts normally and works without problem.

Even though I am satisfied with my Toshiba notebooks, are this extremely annoying sudden failure.
    What can you suggest me?

    What we offer you?
At first try to clean your laptop.

Who knows how many dust is inside your laptop.
My cell phone is always placed on the desktop, but when I check the lower side whenever I see dust on the cooling rack.

  • Re: Satellite C660-11W - overheating problem

    Hello

I have this laptop about 2 months, so the solution to this problem may not be that my laptop is old and is inside the dust...
If I just surf the internet, notebook temperature is around 40-60 degrees, but if am I game it goes quickly to the top (65-75)
-maybe after 2 hours set temperature rises and I leave the game.
If the temperature is around 75 degrees, computer startup are loud and I think he's going down...

    What should I do?
    Thank you

After reading your ad I n don't know what the problem is. The temperature that you mentioned in your ad is not the critical level, so I think there is no reason to panic.

When you want to play the game, close all unnecessary applications, switch to plan of power high performance and ensure that notebook is properly placed on the desktop. Cooling fans should not be blocked and the laptop should be able to take a breath.

Until there is no unexpected switch off there is no reason to panic.

I found this info on the 800706BE error:
+ Error 800706BA is a standard Windows error with many causes. It more often refers to Microsoft COM Internet Services (CIS) on the call of client DCOM Distributed Component Object Model (RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE); the RPC server is unavailable (Windows Event ID) 1722. • Satellite Pro A40 inside cleaning due to overheating problems

    Hi Forum,
I want to clean my Satellite Pro A40 carefully inside due to overheating problems.

Can someone provide me with a sort of manual how to open the SPA40 correctly resp. How to clean it.

I think that indoor air to blow a few tablets will not solve the problem, there is a lot of dirt and dust inside.

IWant to do myself, so please do not recommend you speak to a technical expert.

    Thanxx in advance...

    Hello

    > I want to do it myself, so please don't recommend me to contact a technical specialist.

In my own opinion, generally it s not a bad suggestion if some advises to contact a technician for laptop to a radiator cleaning because the dismantling of most of the computers mobile new generation is very delicate and not easy. Mostly one or the other has no experience and in this case, it is best contact an ASP to help him try to clean the laptop and probably damage parts.
If the warranty is valid such procedure will void the warranty

But don t worry buddy ;) I'll try to help you as much as I can
I have goggled a bit and found it nice [statement | http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA45/Satellite-A45-remove-hinges-1.htm] how to disassemble the Satellite A45.
The A45 is very similar to the A40 and so pictures of the laptop must be the same.

Step 4 (photo) and step 5 shows the dirty radiator and how to remove it.
You do not need to disassemble the laptop full but only the radiator at the bottom of the unit cover.

Notes; Always be careful and don't use force to remove anything ;) and you know everything you do are at your own risk

I hope I could help. Best regards and Merry Christmas ;)

  • Satellite U400-135 overheating

    Hello

A few weeks back I bought the new Toshiba Satellite U400-138 and now I feel it is a lower design due to numerous complains that I found one here in the forum support or by people who have tried to deal with this series.

Fist of all the overheating problem becomes not affordable as I'm about to lose my fingers due to the extreme heat comes from the lower level of touch pad! In addition it usually takes more than 7 minutes to get the login screen of windows while beginning to the top of the window and when you access the window continues to display the CPU usage almost 100% long just by clicking the internet explorer, so I can't do anything except wait (it's killing slow) and when I compare with my old P4 desktop , according to me, how I was wrong when I decided to go to the U-400!

Today I've decided to take the laptop to the Toshiba dealer and when I was there, I tried to touch the lower part of the availbel for similar in the showroom model and it was very hot and when I asked the sales man there he informed me that there are many customers reported the same complain so I referred me to their service center for inspection and I'm so annoying now because my new laptop will be served after only two weeks and I think that this model is a design of lower quality and the only way to get rid of this problem to get the same replaced by something else?

your valuable comments is highly apprciated.

    Salvation will be

    I have a U400 too. It s a U400 which belongs to the series of PSU40E.
I use two BONES; Vista and XP.

Initially the Vista started slowly, it was not too slow but slower than Win XP.

    I studied a bit and found a solution;
First of all, I discovered that many background processes and apps have loaded early in the boot process in MSCONFIG, you can find these applications.

I disabled some unnecessary programs (for me) and the notebook starts up much faster.

Moreover, I noticed that Tempro update tool helped me a lot.

So please check these two proposals.
I don't know that it could help you...

    Regarding the temperature more high touchpad;
Well, my touchpad is also hotter than the rest of the cover of the laptop but is nothing unusual because cooling modules are placed under the touchpad and the left side is warmer due to the dissipation of the heat of this side of the laptop

If you shouldn't be worried; It is not unusual

Bye & have a nice day

  • Satellite Pro M10 overheating and the fan runs loud

I have a Satellite Pro M10 and when it is the fan on the power grid comes shortly after the start and makes a horrible noise - this has only started happening recently. I tried spraying compressed air (dust) to the air outlet and still have the same problem.

Other postings say to clean the fan, but I don't know how to access it. I'm worried about overheating problems I work in Africa much of the time and the laptop is subject to hot temperatures.

    Hi Hannah,

The easy way to clear the dust and debris from the cooling system is to use a vacuum cleaner hose placed on the admission air grids that are usually in the bottom of the laptop (covered by a grid). For maximum effect, I usually place a rag around the pipe to maximize the flow of air through the fans.

This causes air suction through the radiator CPU the wrong way and ensures that all debris are not pulled into the heatsink, but are removed by fans. You can see a ball of down under the grates that you need to try to clear little by little.

This technique will not void your warranty since no disassembly of the unit is necessary.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite P100-120 overheating running Linux Ubuntu 9.10

    Hello world

I use Ubuntu 9.10 running on a laptop Toshiba Satellite P100-120; I have a problem of overheating and the fan never put to cool my laptop.
Looking around, I found that several models of Toshiba Satellite have the same problem and I found that the only solution work seems to update the DSDT file by exploiting this feature on Linux kernels (kernel argument acpi = off is not a solution).

The problem is that the current Linux kernel of Ubuntu distributions can't take no more (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/395239).
Given that this problem seems to affect many models of Toshiba/people, I don't know that Toshiba has corrected it to a patch of BIOS; is there a reliable to tell me how I can find this patch?
I think that we need a BIOS patch because I tried to read the DSDT and indeed it includes bugs (if compile you it with the compiler Intel as described, you can find them).

    Commands to show bugs:
    sudo cat/proc/acpi/dsdt > dsdt.dat
    sudo iasl d dsdt.dat
    sudo iasl tcs - a.dsl

In the case that Toshiba does not provide a patch, can someone suggest me the reasons (I know that Toshiba is not officially compatible with Linux, but today the Linux community should be accompanied by resellers of computers)?

    Thanks in advance

    > In the case Toshiba does not provide a patch...
That of the problem. Toshiba doesn't support Linux, especially not for this model of laptop, so you have to search solution elsewhere.
Support Linux costs money, and why do we have if the books are not delivered with Linux.

In my opinion the best place to find solution or pickup a few tips useful and info is specialized Linux forums and communities.

  • My Satellite P30 keeps overheating...

    Hello

My Satellite P30 keeps overheating and stop playing computer games. I had this problem 4 months ago and sent my computer to Toshiba. They sent to me with a new fan but now 4 months later the same problem comes back again.

I doubt that the fan is broken again because I changed it about 4 months ago. I read somewhere on the internet that the problem might be rather an accumulation of dust on the heatsink. I heard that there is a problem with many Toshiba models, which will suck the air from below without filter.

If it's my problem, how can I clean my radiator?

    Thank you
    Hugo B

    Hello Hugo

The problem is not just dust. A friend of mine has a similar problem and at the end I saw that he uses his cell phone on the table with the tablecloth. The of cold air over the lower part was closed and unit was suddenly switched off.

Be also careful that your device can catch its breath and you can do a test, put on something to do with the distance between the laptop and the desktop (four books or something similar). Please try this and let me know if the problem persists.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro M70 overheating when playing games or watching DVDs

    Hello world

my laptop (Satellite Pro M70) overheating regularly, especially when playing games or watching DVDs.
Initially the cooling gets really hard, then the laptop would become hot, and shortly after that it stops completely. I ran it about 50% cpu power (DVD mode) for some time, which helps a little, but makes it much slower games.

I do not know whence this problem, you have any ideas what I could do?

Don't know if it's important, my graphics chip is the ATI Mobility Radeon X 700.

    Thanks in advance

    > My laptop (Satellite Pro M70) is overheating regularly himself, especially when playing games or watching DVDs.
Still is it playing games and watching DVD movies to emphasize material for portable computers.
Devices such as the CPU and GPU run with maximum efficiency and produce a lot of heat.
This could lead to problems of overheating, especially if the cooling modules n t work properly.

    > I do not know whence this problem; you have any ideas what I could do?
I think that the cooling modules don't cool the laptop properly because fans could not run with maximum efficiency because of the dust and debris.

The same thing happened to me. I just cleaned the vents using a jet of compressed air. This jet of compressed air can be ordered from different computer resellers and it s a professional tool to perform this cleanup.

I think you should test this.

    Good luck

    Hello
I'm quite desperate. My Satellite A300D is overheating. I can not play new games. Temperature hit 94 degrees and laptop is restarted. I cleaned it several times, very precisely and nothing. So I decided to send it to the official service of Toshiba. After that, the phone is still the same.

My only hope is buy cooling grease and cooling stock-base. But before that ideas, advice?

    Thanks for everything...

    Hello

I can understand you mate, but have you contacted Toshiba service center again? You should speak with the technicians and explain the situation. I put t know what they did, do you know that?

Cleaning of the laptop is still a good idea but if it doesn't work maybe the thermal compound must be renewed. So ask a technician for help laptop.
